That was Horrible. Not only does half of both teams walk away carrying yellows but excessive bookings completely handicapped germany early on. Great to watch but BS on the part of that Spanish Ref. Oezil made some sick passes though.

OH and COME ON PODOLSKI!!!!! They handed you the PK and you telegraphed that shizz, how bout fake right shoot dead center punk.

^ Hehe me to.

And after all this...
Serbia still won't make it out. They will beat Aussie, Serbia needs Ghana to lose vs Germany and tie or lose to Aussie. Not going to happen. Most likely Ghana will lose to Germany and beat Aussie. This will give both Ghana and Serbia 6 points a piece but because Ghana beat Serbia, they will win the tie breaker. But you never know...

Ugh...Germany got the high hard one today. That was a ridiculous display of yellow cards. Still, Germany had their share of opportunities, inculding that missed p.kick. :(

Hope they can make it out of their group. That thing is a mess.

Nice. USA almost won, but the ref called offsides or what? I missed why they didn't get it. I was driving someone to the airport after the 60th minute or so.

I dunno, but I actually might have to watch a replay tonight. Seems the US got jobbed on what should've been the GWG.

Ref did not allow the goal. Apparently he had no explanation. Stupid officiating.

i set my alarm for the wrong time for the game (pm instead of am!) so i woke up to like 9 texts all saying WTF BS WE GOT CHEATED etc so i jumped on and watched all the replays and highlights i could... wtf was that nonsense about taking our goal away. i saw nothing wrong, no offsides, no foul prior to the kick or anything. you've got to be joking

also: i want to buy a vuvuzela and keep it in my car to blow at stop lights. that is all

US second goal came from a crappy call by the ref when (i forgot his name) held on to the Slovenian's arm faking he got elbowed. the first and third goals were legitimate, so i'm happy with the tie.

Today has some really good games...

It seems that the phrase "The World Cup doesn't really start until some one is upset" is spot on. Before Spain played their were 2 or so good games, after the lost...

Argentina vs Korea was exciting, France Mexico was epic, Germany vs Serbia was amazing and the US game was incredible. [(PS they got robbed by a ref that was reffing his first game) PSS So did Germany]

first world cup game you mean (at least in the usa's case). i'd read he reffed the finals for the african nations cup this year, too. should have known better...

my friend asked me if there's any possible way of overturning something like that, and i don't know? i remember thierry's handball and everything that happened with that, but i dunno how something controversial like that would work now?

GTFO.

Yeah, I dunno what to say about that US game...it was pretty damn awesome even though the win was robbed. Apparently, the ref, Koman Coulibaly, called a foul against Edu???

England and Algeria are tied going into the half.

Fifa is saying the ref doesn't have to say who it was on. That's dumb. But the tie isn't the worst thing in the world.

But a US win would've basically put the team through to the next round. The only way they would've been knocked out would be if they get blown out by Algeria. Now, they either need a win or draw in the next game, but if they draw Eng/Slov must be low scoring. Just a whole lot more pressure put on the third game for the US in the first round.

haha, it would be pretty interesting if the next round all teams tie!. US/ENG/SLV/ALG

oh yea... that whole overturning a call. cant happend, once its done, its done. When Thierry Henry handed the ball TWICE and cost Ireland the spot to the World Cup. They didnt over turn it, dispite Mr.Henry himself calling for a replay. I think thats why Ireland was rooting for Mexico yesterday. lol.

Anyways, this thread is pretty awesome. IMO

No, it would be interesting if the US ties 0-0 and ENG ties 2-2 which team (US or ENG) advances would be decided by a coin flip.

If all games draw, and ENG scores 3 more goals than the US, they advance. Less than two goals more than the US and the US team advances. This scoring makes my head hurt.

US has quite a bit of work to do against Algeria. They played very well defensively and offensively today. England better get their heads out of their asses if they want to move on. I've been thoroughly disappointed with their game play so far.
