Here's the deal on the Stillen, straight from the horse's mouth (Torry and I met with Steve Millen and observed their manufacturing and assembly processes, and discussed the benefits / warranty on the Stillen S/C kit last year):Jacko3 wrote:C-Kwik:
Yes, it would appear the dealerships installed the Stillen SCs. And they cover it under their warranty. I actually so one with sticker price of $49K. So, i was wondering how this is possible, and if they had permission from Nissan to do the install on a brand new car, covered under full warranty, and displayed for sale like any other new 350Z.
Stillen offers a limited powertrain warranty on any Z/G running their kit if they install it. I'm guessing they've either done the install and extended the Stillen-only powertrain warranty, OR have made an arrangement with selected dealers to offer a S/C'ed version at an inflated (steeply inflated, I might add) price, burying a costly extended aftermarket powertrain warranty in there somewhere to cover their butts.
Cheaper to buy the car, drive it to Costa Mesa, and let Stillen install it and get the warranty. $49K is a hefty markup, when the S/C kit installed is only around $6K.
