Probably 6-12 R50's

At one point I used to count and I think the average was 9

Vancouver has tons of them though.

Lots in my area. It seems coloured people LOVE these things. no racism intended. It was actually an indian person who bought mine.

I'd say I see 10 atleast a day.

Today I replaced my driver door exterior handle since the old one had a broken spring. A small PITA, but since I've attempted it before it wasn't as challenging. I also lubed the power window regulator with some spray chain lube (white lithium grease), there is less chatter from the window now.

I also drained about a quart of ATF. It was overfull when checked hot and there were bubbles on the dipstick. I can never get the damn level right.

Up here where I am (in snow country), it's just the opposite.
I see at most maybe 5 per day, but a visit to my local junkyard gives me an eyeful.
Lots of rusted out hulks, mostly mid to late 90's. Sad really.
I've picked apart one unit in particular. It's a 2001 LE Pathfinder. Good interior, but a wreck on the outside.
Among other things, I've taken the faux wood interior trim/dash pieces out of it, as well as the overhead console (with the temp gauge and compass.). I also took the DRL module and signal stalk out of it to fix a headlight issue.
Thank goodness for junkers. Saved me a lot of money.
My local dealership has also told me they've written off more than a few R50's due to the strut recall.
I'm waiting to see where they end up. Hopefully in my junkyard.

installed this cool piece of hardware today.

swings around like crazy though needs moar stable. probably going to have to invest in the 20 dollar kit or making some custom brackets for the sun visor like they're supposed to be.

What tires do you have? Looks good.

Replaced the front struts, mounts/bearings with KYB and Beck/Arnley end links. What a difference! Feels like a solid truck again. No more clunking!

What is that? Does each of those mirrors rotate on its own or something?

Google "wink mirror" They offer great rearward vision and are very popular in boy racer circles.

What did I do? Alot, here is a list.

Changed air filter
Changed fuel filter
Changed oil
Changed spark plug wires

Once I get a torque wrench and a spark plug socket I'm gonna do all the spark plugs as well. By the way my Pathy rides so much smoother now, and it is much quicker as well. I used to struggle to get past 60 now I can get to 70 and above, no problem.

I tried to install Speed Bleeders for my brakes but they're too big, at least for the rear wheel cylinders :( AAP & RockAuto say the parts I bought fit. Guess it's time to return these and get some sort of vacuum tool.

Had the CEL light up, scanner showed P0174. Tried clearing the code, thinking it was a one-off thing, but it came back. Freeze frame data the second time around was showing the long term bank 2 trim being over +13%. Cleaned the MAF with MAF cleaner, drove to work and back (~35km / 20mi), and checked the real-time values. Long term had dropped to +7%. It's been a few more days, still no sign of the CEL. Guess doing the simple things first pays off.

Feels a bit more peppy, but the big thing is that the Pathy was starting to shake when idling in gear, like at a red light. Felt it through the steering wheel, and it was noticeably worse with the rear defrost on. Cleaning the MAF seems to have solved that problem. I had this issue before a year ago and it went away by itself... but I also remember preemptively cleaning the MAF. At the time, I didn't make the connection between the two.

I did check the air filter too, it's pretty dirty after ~18 months. Meant to change it this summer but lost track of time. Next time I'm at a parts store I'll pick one up.

just finished greasing the bearings...4x4....dirty job
changed the generic pads to thermoquiets...
I still don't understand why I had a hard time putting back the passenger side hub/rotor back in. I had to tap the inner bearing with a screw driver and hammer ...it came off easily...but it just didn't want to fit back in...even though I changed it from new to old then old to new bearings...even the old inner bearing didn't fit back any more...cost me 20 mins and lots of hammering...just glad its over....brake pads were a breeze

next up....changing the rear coils to fix a slight sag

I had trouble reinstalling the outer wheel bearing on the passenger side too. It just wouldn't go in. The driver's side slipped right in. After a few more tries (and a run to the parts store to get a new outer bearing which didn't fit either -_-) it just went in somehow. I returned the new bearing.

I had problems with the inner bearing...when I tried aimlessly hammering it in ...it popped out the inner seal....I was so mad...so when I gave up on hammering on the hub with a 3lbs hammer...I gently hammered the inner bearing without popping the inner seal...looking back maybe I should have put lots of general purpose grease ( red) on the shaft.

also using a grease packer was useless for me since the Valvoline SynPower Full-Synthetic Grease is soooo thick unlike your Gen purpose red grease...

oh wait...yea..had to hammer in the outers too...make me think the shaft expands when you take off the hub assembly...

I got this one http://www.harborfreight.com/brake-blee ... 69328.html from Harbor Freight a while ago. Have yet to use it.
