The V1 is certainly regarded by many as one of, if not the best, detectors out there, especially with non straight-line K/Ka band detection. But, it is pricey...
The Escort 9500ix and Redline also perform well, if not better in some categories but they cost about as much as the V1.

Nothing can protect you from Lidar except laser jamming (illegal most everywhere I think) or having a guinea pig get zapped ahead of you.

You can choose which detector works the best for you if you know what the LEOs are using on your daily route.

I like my Escort SmartRadar (although it has been discontinued, got mine on Groupon discount):
1. small form factor, about 2/3rds the size of a typical detector
2. very stealthy - has only a green/blue indicator on the left side of the device, so folks behind you can't tell if you've got a detector
3. you can use EscortLive - really only useful if you live in a busy city with lots of Escort detector users who upload traps/hidden cops, etc.
4. can link up with your iPhone so you can adjust alert settings, unlock/lock out false alerts (simple left or right swipes), mute (just tap anywhere on the screen),and it also has music controls

changed out my tires yesterday...2 were wearing in the middle (rear wheel action), the shop also found a slight tear on the side wall of the 3rd tire - not too bad, but I don't take chances, so I had them swap out all four....I got a smoke'n deal since the tires that I originally wanted to put on (Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3) weren't going to be available until next week and I needed replacements ASAP... I picked up the Goodyear Eagle GT's 245/20/19 -- $135 x 4 ... couldn't pass it up!!!!

My initial impressions:

1. first drive off the lot after install - tires felt stiff and was quiet...no big deal

2. drove approx 35mph for 10-15 minutes around town to break them in slowly

3. jumped on the fwy, drove approx 50mph for about 3 miles, then increased speed to 65 for about 3 miles...could feel the responsiveness getting better

4. got off fwy, filled up the tank and jumped back on fwy.....opened the car up from 50mph to 80mph for about 3 miles....then took it up to 120...car felt stable, quiet and safe.

5. cornering was excellent, braking was excellent too....while at stop lights and initial take off, the tires gripped really well...

I'll take a spin on the streets and fwy this morning to see how it responds after sitting over night, do the tires need time to warm up in order to get the performance that I'm used to??? I'm used to Performance Summer Tires, so I just have to get used to the new set of all seasons...but for the price, I can't complain :bigthumb:

I assume you are talking about VHT NIght Shades.

I have did mine with a very heavy coat (5-6 coats) around the outer edge so it blended into the black sides. Then I used electrical tape on the turn signal to make diagonal lines while covering the rest of the lens with tape so it stayed untouched. Then I uncovered the entire lens and did 2 coats to make a nice deep cherry colour. There are more pics in my sig, or click on my icon to get links for pics.

Swapped out the OEM open diff for a G35 LSD with 3.69 gears. Also did a full trans flush and got a full set of Kumo Ecsta's.

Where did you get the parts and did you have to use the half shafts like everyone else has?

No i did not need to use the half shafts. I have an M35 and the G35 diff is a direct swap. I got the diff from a guy that was parting out an 07 G35S sedan with 55,000 miles.. He didn't have it listed, but he sold it to me. Trolling ebay works out sometimes. lol. I paid $300 shipped. I needed to change over the drive shaft coupler from the M diff.

Only the M45 needs to change the flange and half shafts, not the 35 models

I have them. Decent. They'll start getting noisy at 10K and you'll consider changing at 15k, I'm at 17k. My driving style, first 8k aggressive, last 7k I rarely get above 70mph. It gets you through snow great. Hard turn you'll skip a bit, or that may be my suspension which the dealer says there is absolutely nothing wrong.

Had found Yellowspeed coilovers constantly bottomed out in the front, front springs were 10kg (560lb) so replaced with Swift 14kg ones (783lb)

Image

And fitted SPC front camber arms.

Just need alignment now but rides so much nicer now. Is also a little higher as it scraped everywhere (and the GF was getting sick of it :chuckle:)

Sorry for the delay. Yes, cruise works fine and speedo reads like 1 mph slower than actual (gps). I know there is a fellow M owner that did this swap and had an issue with cruise and the speedo off by a significant amount. I believe he has an M45. The M45 has an 3.35 rear gear, the M35 has an 3.54 & the G35 LSD has an 3.69. The change from a 3.35 to 3.69 will deff change things a lot such as speedo reading, drive shaft speed, RPM, etc...
I have noticed a difference in off the line acceleration. it pulls harder through the entire rev range. That little sluggish feeling from stop to about 3,000 rpm is pretty much gone.

Whats up guys? Been on the forum since March. Picked up a 2007 M35X in crimson roulette with every single option. Cars been great. First thing I did was the Megan blue tip exhaust from our good friend Freddie and swap out the air filter for a K&N filter. Shortly there after upgraded the fogs to 6K as well as the low beams which i think were already 6k if i am not mistaken. Then complete brakemotive drilled and slotted rotors and pads all the way around. Recently I installed the low profile vent visors which are not as useful as the conventional ones but does look so much better. All the outside bulbs were changed to white LED's. And very recently discovered a slight oil leak from the valve covers. So i went ahead and ordered both valve covers and gaskets. Since i was already in that deep i decided to call NWP and they shipped me their spacers for the lower intake plenum and also their spacer, plate and big 75mm throttle body. Car feels much faster :naughty:

Anyways the only issue i have come across now is i have a intake leak on the accordion like intake couplers. The dealership and online want about $120-160. I was wondering if i can just replace it with a 3 inch silicone coupler and call it a day since the Injen short Ram aren't in stock anywhere. The idle drops and sends SES light so im guessing its either because of both rips in the couplers or maybe since i didnt put back a gasket between the upper plenum and throttle body spacer. Either way if anyone has a solution please chime in or if anyone knows who has the CAI in stock please direct me towards them.

Attached are some pics, will upload some better shots once i take them lol.

Future Plans for 2014:
1. Took delivery today of a square set of 370Z forged wheels that might go on soon.
2. Junction Produce curtains because i have no tint luck.
3. Short Ram or Cold Air Intake. Whatever is available.
4. Uprev Tune

Maybe bags. Either Sarona kit or some body kit. Thats all next years project though. Looking forward to learning more from all of you :bigthumb:
