Also, thanks to the fine guys over at Accuair, i was able to get the touchpad + other maintenance items installed.

Here is where i mounted the touchpad. Sadly the thing wont close buts its stable and solid and out of the way.

Spent three hours washing, waxing and buffing the car :D till it was dark out.

Was swerving around puddles this morning on my way to work lol

My car is black so I used this: http://www.turtlewax.com/shop/products/ ... finish-kit

Looks soooo good :chuckle:

Let's hope no birds find the car attractive today :ohno:

Image

The car needed it, the clearcoat is starting to show age - very quickly. And its the first time in years it looks so black :D saw too many scratches and rock chips on the paint though while I was doing the front of the car :(

So thinking about doing some lighting upgrades, does anyone have LED driving lights? I was thinking about trying to install some in the vertical vents in the bumper and also a set of hidden reverse lights under the rear bumper. (its hard to back up at night with such tinted windows)

I'm new here so please take it easy on me, but anyway today I painted my calipers, added my favorite character decals also I replaced my tire valves for visual ones. Within the month I will be putting 20% tint on it, getting new tires and rotors.

Tried the new Mobil 1 extended oil filter and oil. It is cheaper than RP by around 20 bucks for everything and I only switched because nobody had my RP oil filter in stock. Just FYI Wal mart has a 5qt for 27, auto zone 37 along with advanced and oreilys. I also changed the dampening on the rear to 18, rides a lot smoother on the bumps! I also took off my fujitsubo axle back, missed the V8 sound. Lastly I touched my grounding wire on the RAS motor and it crumbled apart on me... Im gona have to fix that soon as I didnt have any parts to fix it.

Hey folks,

Just thought I would share the happenings on my Infiniti M35 Sport, Liquid Platinum, chrome stock rims from Sewell Dallas, Tech/Journey package, purchased in 07', now in Austin, TX

Current Mileage: 86K
Upgrades: Stillen exhaust, CAI, LED upgrade to front headlights and rear license plate (makes awesome difference)
Mobil One Synthetic every 4K miles

Replaced tires and decided to try Falken Azenis, after first rain I skid on a right turn, hit a cement curb and damaged my rim. Picked a random body shop near my job (bad decision) and after they replaced the rim and tire they sent me on my way. Steering wheel kept shaking at 60MPH, took it to Austin Infiniti and they said Front Left bearing failure and needed alignment. $905 later (made my insurance reimburse me after the original body shop did not find the bearing issue) and now she runs much better.

Went to Discount Tire and swapped out those Falken Azenis that almost killed me for the Michelin Primacy and ride is more of a "touring" ride but I have more confidence when driving.

Will attach pics which I can, looking for other Infiniti enthusiasts here in Austin.

Stay classy!

Glad to hear the insurance didn't play on you. I used to buy ONLY Michelin tires and you will be quite pleased with the Primacy model. One thing about Michelin that nobody else can say: They will never let you down in the rain and they will still grip well even at or near the end of their life. I'm testing the Hankook Ventus S1noble2 right now and so far am very pleased. They are much much quieter than the Michelin Pilot Super Sports I was using and handling in any weather is only just slightly less than Michelin which is high praise. I'm interested to see if the Hankooks maintain this feel and quality as the miles pile on.

i have a set of the falken azenis (275 f 315 r) on my supra and haven't been real impressed with them. the break loose pretty easily even on dry pavement. i don't drive the supra in the rain so i can't comment on that. i'll probably go back to khumos for the next set.

1. Cleaned cone filter of CAI
2. Cleaned throttle body, man there was a lot of gunk on it
3. Swapped the Beltronics 965 for Escort SmartRadar.
Plasti-Dipped over front lettering so no one knows exactly what it is

Ran the remote display/controller to center console so I can pull that out when I don't want to be in super stealth mode (hooks up with Bluetooth to my iPhone + additional alerts with Escort Live) so you can operate it without the controller

Over the weekend I decided to try to mitigate the scraps I had on the front bumper from the previous owner. There was a pretty bad scrape on each side of the front bumper. My M45 has a black border around most of the car just not the front bumper so I tried to carry that on to the front bumper and blacked it out with some of that plastic-dip stuff. It looks pretty good, but I am interested to see how long it lasts before I have to peal and re-apply. What do you guys think?

Does your car still run well? I heard messing with the throttle body is bad news, as if you touch the plate it will mess up the calibration, and that the plate inside is supposed to be covered with a coating of some kind that is a bit gummy.

Yeah, definitely remembered a thread some time ago about that...kinda mixed experiences - some had no issues and they were rough, others had issues even after being very cautious...don't remember exactly what all the tips/warnings people had to say about it

I only took off my intake, didn't remove the whole throttle body, just carefully cleaned off the plate and the intake on either side of the plate as far as I could reach. Didn't let the plate snap shut.

Car still pulling strong, no CELs, but I was careful. But, when I fired it up the next day I was worried what might light up on the dash. :ohno:

Didn't notice any coating on the inside part of the plate...

maybe I got lucky, but I've cleaned it before the same way, when I first installed my CAI, I noticed that it looked really dirty - used Q-tips and small amount of throttle body cleaner and a clean rag

I did it this 2nd time because I needed to clean my cone filter, and last time I had my oil change at the stealership, they did their standard evaluation (ie gave you a list of additional service/extra cost items) and "carbon deposits in throttle body" was one of the items

Found a few threads:

post6183544.html?hilit=throttle body#p6183544

post5737516.html?hilit=throttle body#p5737516
you brought up this same exact question

this one was about CAIs might cause throttle body failures (I have a R2C intake on mine and I also installed an oil catch can)

I dipped my 06 M45 a couple years ago to make some damage less visible since I wasn't about to pay to fix it on a 150K+ mile car. I didn't do it myself, and the guy I had do it didn't do a great job by any means. I peeled in on July 4th because it was coming up on the roof where it was loose from the beginning. There was about a quarter-inch by two-inch spot where it was up, and that was with wind blowing under it for 10K miles. I never washed the car while it was dipped, though, and I was parked in a garage for most of that year. I'd say it'll last a pretty long time, but YMMV.

The thing about PlastiDip is applying it evenly and applying enough coats. I dipped my grille. Like your front bumper, it must withstand the direct head-on pressures of high winds, pelting rain, and other challenges whilst driving at high speeds.
Therefore I applied about 10 coats instead of the minimum 6 coats required for any other surface on the car. My grille has been subjected to 3-digit hwy speeds, 80 mph in the rain, and also being driven in falling snow and road-salt coloured slush kicked up by preceding cars on a trip to the north.
I hand wash my car at least 2x per month and it doesn't live in a garage so it's subject to FL direct sunshine, hard rain storms, etc. I have had no issues with the dip.
If you did not apply 10 coats, you don't have to start over ... just clean the surface without heavy pressure, make sure it is bone dry, and add more coats, waiting at least 15 min between coats. You can click on my icon to see pics.

I highly recommend https://www.dipyourcar.com/ My mate Fonzi has done a plethora of videos about dipping, and he has colours and additives that no other dealer has. Some of the new pearl, metallic, and chameleon formulas are absolutely staggering. In fact, he has a finishing dip that protects against UV and road debri on any colour dip on your car.

Stock piled some parts for this weekend:

1) New Continental ExtremeContact DWS XL's...had two sets of DWS (non-XL) before switching to the Michelin Primacy MXM4's this time. Time to switch those out after 27kmi.
2) New Brakemotive Brake Kit
3) Waiting on TollBoothWilly's under tray for test fitment on M35x

Still need:

1) Driver side wheel well liner
2) Various clips and buttons for front end
3) New Y-Pipe

Just curious. Did you notice less performance from the Michelin touring tires Vs the Conti high performance? Or did they actually wear out after just 27k miles? I'm testing the Hankook Ventus S1noble2 ultra high performance in the 255/45 size. So far, I'm surprisingly impressed but I'm still under 20k miles so the final verdict on them is yet to come.

Michelin's might have been more of a 'comfortable' tire...didn't see a difference for the most part in performance (however, I don't drive nuts anymore - have a ZX-6R for that lol).

I over inflate them slightly for MPG purposes, so they wear a bit differently than normal. Plus I needed an alignment for a while.

I made one of those "invisiline" power cords for my radar detector, but ran it to the driver side fuse box instead of tapping the mirrors power. I have to make a run to Toronto and hated how on my last trip I had the wire running to the cigarette lighter in the center console cubby.
