i'd def be down with meeting anybody, but until my car is running again, thats consuming my free time. plus my hours at work went back up to like 60ish again . yeah a few of teh local 240 owners/nico members hit up the sonic meets, and i'll def be showing up at them after the car is on the road.

dont know any joel though....and between mrgreeneyes, didderson, kietdude, iheartrps13 and myself we know just about every s chassis owner.

dont be too excited, its not a huge update. as hbpignose can confirm, its been sh1tty and raining for the past couple days, which sucks sicne my car is outside . i dont hve good pics for most of my progress since i didnt want to get my camera wet in all the rain. so bear with me, this week should be better for progress and pics though.

since the last update mrgreeneyes and myself have made great progress on the cars wiring. im so stoked for the finished product. but i want to wait til its done to show it off to nico, its gonna be nutz though

ive also dyed the headliner a little darker and its coming together nicely. (no pics for the time being)

i have the holes drilled for my battery cage and i have the hardware for it. i'm using hefty carriage bolts and one actually passes through the frame rail. so the battery is actually bolted right to the frame itself. i have new rubber fuel lines to replace the old ones back at the tank, and this past week i picked up an sohc coolant sensor to run my efan with. it was only $5 too . im looking forwardd to getting more work done with nicer weather but i still found time to destroy my koyo rad

thats right, i busted my koyo and need to shell out money for another one. not a huge deal, it just sucks cuz i was planning on using it. i was removing the hose for overflow and the nippled snapped. oh well, it just sets me back a tad.

currently the car is jacked up with the front tires off awating the brake swap. i did manage to finish cutting the front dust shield off but before i could get any farther i was caught in a downpour.

i returned my 6 cans of rubberized undercoating to get duplicolor's truck bed liner kit. its kinda pricey at $62 but i figured im gonig to do it right and do whatever i can to maintain such a pristine underbody.

the biggest thing i did accomplish this week, that i do have pics of is wiring for the type x clusterit took about 4 hours of relaxed working on it (i was watching tv at the same time and im easily distracted) first, i layed both cluster upside down with the wiring plugged in, the stock s13 subharness in the US cluster and the maxima plugs in the type x cluster.next, i removed each wire, one at a time, from the us wiring and taped it to the appropriate pin location on the type x cluster. i just taped the wires together with masking tape and pulled the harness apart until i had a squid of wireseventually, everything was transferred over and i just had the type x cluster to work withi then layed everything out at my soldering station and went to worki soldered each wire after triming it to a proper length so everything woudl match up nicely.the soldering gun was old and kinda finicking, but it got the job donemy helper/distractionand finally everything was soldered and at the appropriate length so i wrapped it with e tape and voila! a new subharness making the type cluster plug and play into any us s13 body harnesssorry for the crappy/ dark pics, its from my phone, but you should ge tthe idea.

heres a random pic but this is what im using for the headliner/interior

some more random pics, but heres a few i snapped of the old, black s13.heres a night shot of the parking lights with led white bulbs, they give off a bit of a purple color but it works for now.anyone know where i can get some led 194s that shine a true white or even slightly bluish (not a ricer blue though )

heres a little bonus for you, a current pic of my bros camaro.im about to update that build thread (link in my sig, check it out)

hope you guys enjoyed, i'll do better for pics and progress next time

hey dumb question but oh well. it looks like you pop rivited the sideskirts on. i know they come off of the newer 180sx. in guessing they just dont bolt up or did you do that so you could mold them for a cleaner look?

its not that bad, all 240's have that many wires and dealing with them is just tedious, not difficult. plus im getting a lot of help from greeneyes. we have a pretty good plan of attack, so it wont be too hard to finish it, we might be wrapped up today

alrighty, heres my little update. i spent about a days worth of time getting a little work done, but theres still so much to do its crazy. i started off by removing the q45 brakes and steel braided lines off the black car and swapping them over to the new shell. for those of you just tuning in, i recently upgarded to oem remanned calipers (q45 in the front, oem s13 in the rear), new rotors and pads, and of course the steel braided lines. it rained a good bit since the car was sitting so the rotors look rusty but its just the typical rain surface rust. while i was at it, i swapped the se alloys of my black car and put the steelies on to roll it around (it rolls really easy now with no brakes on it ) heres the rear brakesheres the front stuff installedi also took off my exhaust and vlsd, so the black car spent a lot of time jacked up.the front end is also off, it looks all business now heres the front end of type x goodnessheres the exhaust laying thereheres the vlsd about to come outand here it is already outi didnt take any removal pics cuz obviously i was a little busy. if you notice, the diff is still sporting the stock nonvsld diff cover. not to fear, i have the vlsd vented cover that will be swapped on.

heres how both cars sat at the end of tuesdayheres a clearer real camera shot of the type x cluster and the subharness

moving from the dirty underside of the car, heres a little info and pics on the wiring situation

heres how the interior looks for wiring right now, lolnow if you looked at that last pic and went you were paying attention. the question you should be asking yourself is why the fuze box is in the car? well if your minds really turning you may have already guessed it......the fuse box is getting mounted in the glove box! all the engien bay wiring is being run under the dash and the only wires that are REALLY need in the engine bay were extended to reach. mrgreeneyes tried all day to convince me to remove the wiring for the headlight motors and leave the headlights up all the time. i won out and the headlight motors stay. but now on to the money shots, the pass side is done and mocked up. every wire that wasnt needed was removed from the smj or whereever it originated from, instead of just being merely trimmed. if youve ever seen the stock amount of wiring that runs through there, you know how much of an improvment that is. here are the plug endsgreeneyes tweaked the metal a little so the wiring can actually run up along side.this way, if i was to SALAMM it there is ZAHERO chance othe tires chewing up the wiring

next i nstalled the rear brakes on the new shell. first i cleaned up the hubs a little. i'll clean the wheel wells better later, but i just wanted to clean it enough to install the brakes. ialso sprayed it with rustoleum black to prevent any rusting (im happy to say there was no rust behind the old rotors)

heres a few underside pics to show how clean it is, even though its currently dirty. it just needs a good washing. i was originally going to wash it good then coat it with truck bed liner. but after a close look, ive decided that pressure washing isnt enough, im going to sand the entire the underside with 80 grit. heres a shot i took of a test aera i brushed a thin coat on

heres the underside shots heres where the gas tank goesheres the nice frame rails

enjoy these pics til my next update. i'l have no tiem to work on it tomorrow sicne i work 8am til close. i might also work a double on friday but if not i'll be getting more work done on thsi project

somehow this thread has avoided me. why have i missed this awesomeness for so long? i have no clue.

I am baffled by the intense amount of wiring and wish you the best of luck. Car defintely looks amazing, and did I mention good luck with all that wiring?

Wow! I'm in awe right now... And I have a lot of new idea's to incorporate into my car now. If you haven't been on my build lately i picked up another 240 shell in almost the same condition as your red one... I'll be swapping everything from my current car over to it since my frame rail's pretty hit with rust....

I still say you should convert it to 5 lug! It gives you ten times the wheel selection and looks uber nice Then ditch those calipers and rotor's for some z32 one's *(You know you want to!)*

I know all the hard work involved in re-wiring the engine bay alone. I give you guy's mad props for moving the relay box inside the car. I wanted to do that with mine but haven't gotten to it yet. All in good time

Don't let him convince you to get rid of the head light motor's! Thats what separates us from all those silvia conversion's out there

Here's another idea.... run those wires down into the frame rail so you don't see them at all! Oh... wait I'm giving out some of my plans now

What all was involved with wiring the type x cluster in swapping connectors or is there more than that? I've been looking into getting one but I think it would look really sexy with my carbon fiber surround piece!

yeah 5 lug is cool but its a lot to spend on something i dont NEED same with z brakes. the cluster was a pita for wiring since i used plugs out of a 95-99 maxima and cut the stock s13 subharness to splice to the proper pin locations of the type x plugs. yeah the headlight motors are def staying operational. it good to think outside the box but wrong wires oalong the framerail will make it too easy for them to get torn up and give you a huge headach down the road. besides with the fenders on, they wont be see at all anyways.

more of an update coming saturday. i worked 14 hours today and the same tomorrow

i'll just copy and paste my response here, jsut in case anyone else has similar questions. but this is what i tried to email to you

LIGHTING- the jdm plugs are different then the us chassis's plugs so you'll need to splice new plugs on. since the jdm lights dont come with plugs i ended up gonig to pepboys and grabbing plugs off the shelf for the bulb size and shaving them to fit. i'll take some pics for you but it wasnt bad at all. if you want to do the wiring correctly, the lower circular lights with the vent are the turn signals and the rectangle lights and positioning lights. alot of people just run the positioning lights as turn signals and dont sue the ones with vents. i did it the right way though. i spliced the lower jdm turn signals off of the us chassis's turn signals and spliced the positioning lights off of the fender marker lights. BUMPER- yeah it bolts up the same but you NEED the bumper bracket, i cant even imagine foing it without that. chuki fenders are not needed, the extensions mount differently then chuki ones. the extensions have little tabs facing backwards, and the extensions have slots that lock in, they also get bolted along the wheel well and double sided tape across the top. SIDES- the little tabs connect to the body of the car itself. the type x car has little holes that these tabs push into. i lined it up and drilled very small holes so that the tabs would push in and stay in. if you drill to big, the tab will losesly slide in and out (giggitty) the sides also get double sided tape along the topa nd i threw a few rivets in at the wheel wells. that should cover all your questions. if you have any more though let me know
