Yo that is SICK Dan posted up your custom downpipe. Look at the MAX logo welded in, hot!

I'm jealous of the hype!11

Manifold looks so good man, serious props to your brother on those welds.

GOAL: Have your car running by page 40. Yes?

omg hypes for erveryone!!1!

yeah i'm pleased with my bros work since thsi is the first time he's tried something like this. i'll try to get shots of some of his ctc projects, the welds on some of his stuff look awesome. i'm so excited for the cobra to arrive i love how it looks. i think i'm gonna ask dan to weld a foot of stainless on the flex pipe just to make kyle's life easier with fabricating the rest. i have some pics i'm uploading but i probably won't update til tomorrow since i just got back from working on the car and its almost 3am. i think i can get it done by page 40 and i like that goal. i just have to keep the pics and useless comments to a minimum.

yeah man let me know more details when you go check it out. i have a pretty picture heavy update so here it is.

for starters i've been spending my time getting the new doors ready to go. its been raining at least a little every day this week so i've been doing what i can. i found a few low spots and learned that the car had a kinda s***ty respray at some point but it wasnt a problem at all. i removed the door handle and weather stripping to do a legit job on it. the handle actually had some chipped up paint that was hard to get to. i discovered this when i hit it with primer.i just pulled the handle off of my spare black door and prepped it for paint.

the manifold was sandblasted and then i started sanding, grinding and filing.

this helped with the sanding off the manifoldand now i'm just hitting it with a flap disk after i grind down the overhang in the inlet flange.

i started doing a little bondo work on the driver side door, much to my surprise the professional gold bondo was actually gold colored. what really sold me was the fd on the label hahaha.

the spot near the handle was easy to fix

i'm still working on the other spot. i just needed to fill in a little low spot and i still need to sand it. i bondoed it last night at 2am and will finish it tomorrow after work. since i was up til almost 4am i slept all day lol.

a sanding block makes the work so easy

my little brother is interested in getting an s13 so he's been helping me with mine. i put him to work on the pass door while i worked on the driver side one. i had him pull off the weather stripping then pop all the little clips back in. it's a b**** isn't it, cody? lolthen he masked everything off and started sanding

i had the handles all sanded down and prepped so i started painting them. i used a little wad of tape to hold the handle up to spray under it.

the driver side still needs to get painted red but the pass side is done

the pass side door got 3 coats of red and dried all day today. paint laid perfectly and came out really nicely.

door jambs came out nicely too

didnt take a pic of it earlier but heres the turbo shield.i'm def getting a heat shield for the brake master cylinder, its a little tight.

sprayed the little handle for the glove box since i switched over for the latch for the key set i have

kinda blurry pic, but heres the old welding mask vs the new one i bought

keegan stopped by to install the alarm since it was all prewired and ready to go. still looks messy but this is it, 99% installedheres the keypads

keegan's stealthy alarm led mounting, so discreet

after keegan left i kept worknig on body stuff and finally resprayed the roofone pic is with flash and one withoutmy whole work area

now on to the pics you've been waiting for........turbo fitment. when keegan first got there we mocked it all up.

i just held the turbo instead of bolting it fully down, but the dipstick tube clearly has to be moved

the wg and screamer pipe after i cut it to fitthis is what i cut so the screamer pipe wouldnt hit the frame rail

heres the wg without teh turbo in the way

not much clearance for the wg, its very tight but will work.

more coming tomorrow

DIY manifold FTW!!! I should have done this as well since both my top mount mani's had bad clearance issues with the brake master cylinder.

that sucks, the manifold and turbo both clear on this setup and total cost to make it was:-$100 for piping from jgs-$170 for head flange-$30 for the t3 inlet and 38mm wg flanges-$40 for stainless steel mig wire

all in all a good deal imo

yeah i mean you have to put some work into it but you can make sure your turbo has great clearance when you weld the flange on.

I had to cut one of my front brake lines off, grind the master cylinder smooth and weld it then tee the cut line into my other front (Nissan made two front brake lines, one for each wheel idk lol) basically it was a b**** and a half but it works great and i have quite a bit of clearance now.

Be careful with whatever you do with the dipstick, my Dad was just telling me about a kid in HS who rebuilt this engine from the ground up-everything was new and when he started it...the dipstick he bought was too long and wrapped around the crank, he had to replace everything in the bottom end.

understandable haha. wasnt it a pain to get those old rusty bolts off to unbolt the lip? been there and

the s14 currently sits out front awaiting a major cleaning and crank seal hopefully it'll be driving again tomorrow. i'm kind of stuck at taking the belts off. I just hope I don't mess something up..

belts are pretty easy, just makes sure you tighten the tensioner to where it feels right. i actually cut the studs off the lip bracket and drilled them out. i'm just gonna drill the studs out the rest of the way and use a nut and bolt

Heh thats sweet, Nissan-beast looks out of place in Pleasantville, nice picture. (new desktop). Sorry to quote a picture and push your thread closer to 40, just increasing the pressure to see finished product. Your car is very nice, i hope mine turns out so well. You should get it painted though, such a nice car deserves a nice paintjob. Such a clean engine bay
