here a minor update, cuz i'm about to go to bed.

here we go. in case you havent seen, new turbo

housing off

wastegate removed for an external wg

the housing now

much betterthe red wasnt for me at all

i cut the hole for the hotpipe and took a rand shot of the engine all dusty

got the cold pipe back from having the hks flange welded on

we busted out the miller to fix the exhaust hanger that as cracking

we also used that opportunity to try welding stainless. heres the test pieces, bear in mind the ic piping is really thin and it was burning through even on the lowest setting.

just to fill everyone in real quick, i'm fabbing my own top mount log manifold in stainless steel, thats why we were practicing with it. i was thinking of going with mild steel since its cheaper but the ss won't rust. the piping pieces for the manifold are coming from jgs and most of the flanges from Columbia River. the head flange is being machined in stainless by a local machine shop, Dentech. i'm also fabbing up the dp, using stainless 3" piping. i'm going with a 38mm tial wg most likely, and have ordered isis top mount lines from enjuku (my old ss lines are for sale btw, so is my old manifold) and a taka oil restrictor and turbo heat shield. i'm fabbing my own hot pipe for the setup so the one i just ordered i have to sell since its too late to return. i'm also replacing the lower section of the cold pipe. since for some reason it was only 2". i have all new hose techniques couplers an ss t bolt clamps on the way as well as all the other parts. i'll have ore of an update this week as i attempt to make lots of progress so starting on tuesday i'll have 5 straight days to get stuff done, so stick around

If only you had a TIG, it would be soooooo much easier and nicer, but not bad on the MIG.

yeah i'm just working with what i got. wait til you see the manifold though, i have confidence it'll be nice. the manifold parts are about 3 times thicker then the cheapo ebay ic piping.

managed to get some work done on the car today. It rained pretty badly so i pulled the car inside to get some work done. i did waste a nice chunk of time getting an inspection and replacing the front tires that were bad for my other car.

i started by cleaning up toolbox and surrounding area, then moved on to some wiring stuff. i'm wiring into the 5 amp fuse in the driver side kick panel and running it to a switch for lit sleepy eyes. its pretty simple, i'm running male spades in were the fuse used to go then running the fuse in line and both sides to teh switch to complete the circuit. nifty fuse holder for clean wiring

then i wired up my own plug for the pass side jdm fender light since it didnt come with a plug

i spliced in the driver side fender light plug and wrapped the driver side wiring harness, but didn't take pics. I also wish i woudl have taken before and after pics of the one jdm bumper light harness that was really nasty. I used electrical connection cleaner and its looking much better now.

i spent a decent chunk of time modifying and mocking up and fitting the ps res since i'm relocating it and i'll easily have it finished tomorrow, didderson got a sneak peek already. heres some quick shots and you can probably figure out what i'm doing

i was gonna get my front cusco sway bar powder coated but im running out of time so i'm holding off so here it is cleaned up.i just need to find the one ES sway bar endlink bushing i'm missing, i have no idea where it is lol.

i spent like 20 minutes cleaning up the engine bay and wiping everything down, so its now prepped for a little touch up spray

here is the best part and a nice little surprise.my head flange was done from the machine shop 2 days early. i test fitted it and the stud holes need bored a little bigger but besides that its very nice and sturdy/heavy and all hell, over 1/2" thick. all i need now is for the order from jgs to get here, but they're so slow.

heres my unhappy little surprise cracked the relocation plate for my oil filter kit, luckily American Speed will have a replacement plate in for me tomorrow morning for $30. i'll have more to update tomorrow, but i will be taking a good chunk of time to finish cleaning my old apartment and getting the last few things out of it.

heres a pic of my car after i moved it out of the garage when i was done.

check back tomorrow for more

Pffft brizanden, s13s pwn s14s. Riding in kiets car all this time I've gained mad respect and almost a desire for s14s now though, so good call, but I still favor the s13 interior.

Lookin good jeff. I'm torn between the relocation of PS lines because idk, the rubber lines are longer and the fender well had to be drilled out more, but it will free up that space. You won't notice the PS reservoir behind the hotpipe tho err I mean mine gets in the way, dunno how yours will be. I'm just weighing the trade offs for ya, imo I won't be relocating ever unless something better comes up. How are u going to have it in there w the clutch master, does it fit?

You should get an oil cooler for that relocation or just put the stock filter back on until you have one. Takin' off the manifold brackets will allow you to do an oem filter change with your bare hands s0n.

yeah the ps lines are longer of course but kept out of the way by being secured to the frame rail far away from the turbo. as for the fender well, i had to drill 2 holes near where the green wiper amp goes so its no big deal. i decided to relocate cuz the new location is cleaner and out of the way and i had the ps res off anyways. it'll fit perfectly next to the clutch master with the modification i showed you when you stopped by. i cut off the lowest mount to drop it in nicely, bent the brackets so they fit on a straight surface, and bent the lower, larger tube into more of a 90* angle. everything will fit perfectly and i'll have finished pics tomorrow.

as for the oil cooler, its a good idea and i've been thinking about it for the future, but i don't see a reason not to run my relocation kit because i don't have a cooler. the relocation lines are already hooked up and run, and i'll be running a much larger filter pushed to the front getting some airflow as it is. i don't see the benefit in removing the relocation kit i've already paid for and installed to use a stock filter. i kept the intake manifold brackets and i can still get the stock filter off with my hands, but i had everything apart already, it was only $60 and its def going to be much easier.

yeah subbie guys love wrinkle red but not me. glad your still following this, the next few days should be interesting.

nothing really to update, i spent all day cleaning the old apartment and tieing up loose ends with that, but i'm finally out of there officially and getting the security deposit back in a few days. i did receive a box today though, these were insidei think you can see where i'm going with this

my sidekick as i was uploading pics

the T's need trimmed a little and so does the flange but it should be welded up tomorrow or fri depending on when my brother's free.

my mom texted me and said the new isis top mount lines came in today too. should be an exciting day tomorrow.

heres a little update i got some work done, but spent too much time running around. i took the head flange back to the machine shop, it needs just a little tweaking.

i picked up my new filter relocation plate. the Mr.Gasket one is thicker and much sturdier, plus its shiny too. i also picked up another male x female extender. i was going to stack them, but this one is longer for some reason so it clears just fine with only one.

the new isis lines came in and they are definitely the right ones since they're longer and i shipped the old ones back.

my hose techniques order came in too.you're looking at $100 worth of couplers and clamps though, its pricey but its really quality stuff. it also came with a hose techniques hard candy

i also drilled the holes to mount of my filter relocation plate, i just didn't mount it yet since i needed to seal up the seam a little and paint there so it won't rust. i'll have pics of a finished product tomorrow, i have the stuff in the bay masked off for a little touch up first thing tomorrow.

i had to meet someone at 5, so i stopped early but i'll be getting in a full day with some help tomorrow

i completely agree. anyone can whip out a credit card for parts, but making them is more fulfilling. and with the prices for top mount t3 flanged manifolds with 38mm tial wg flange, forget it. companies like full race sell nice parts, but they're insanely overpriced. i was looking at treadstone to and i know theyre quality but damn, i could shell out $400 for their cast manifold, or i could make a stainless one for cheaper.

Wow.... Lots going on glad to see this thing's getting worked on! I hit up a drift indy event the other day and It's got me in the mood to finish up the vert for this season! That turbo looks dope and thats a massive flange are you using the stock header studs or did you have to get longer ones? You should make one for my ka I wanna see a vid of this thing when you fire it up! My vert broke down at my friends house But its just not getting spark... Idk why yet haven't investigated but it started chewing through my wiring harness with my tire.... So I'm gonna start there.... Need to weed out the unnecessary crap like you did.... We'll see what happens I guess. Wish ya lived closer I'd give ya a hand

Just updated my build with some pics
