Glad to learn I got a fair price! My dealer is Metro Nissan in Lasalle, on blv newman, on the Montreal's island - simply the closest to my home...

I didn't have to argue or anything, its the same price she (Helene Baril) gave me on first visit... But I did check with a car brooker associated with my Professionnal Order (OIQ) to try to get a cheaper price, but they gave me the same price + or - 3$/month... So I went with the closest dealer. Moreover, the sales girl was nice and franck so I was happy to get her commissions...

I should post picture when the rain stop!

I got a brilliant silver for 2 weeks already.S model, automatic with power pkg and mud-guard.There is not many at this time. I can't wait few more months for the same color SL model so I just get it anyway at MSRP. I still consider it's good price because other dealers even add the mark-up into their price since this car is hot buy. After 10 days running around to break-in the engine, I drove to LA!Things I love:It's a great car. I think it's better that Matrix, powerwise: more torque, less weight. The matrix always has the under-power problem. I can run up mountain at 70mph/4000rpm (OD off). I still can push more but it's the new engine so I went easy on it. On flat level, I can run easy 80mph/3000rpm.The steering handle is OK. I could get up to 400mile per tank as advertised. The engine is quiet. The thing I appreciate a lot is the transm which can control the downhill speed. I did not use much brake because the transm handle it by itself. If you need to slow down, press the brake to slow it down and then release it, the transm will keep your car at that speed. If you ever drove up and down mountain. You know why I like this. That's awsome!Things I hate:The vent system is not great. I feel hot when I close the window at let fresh air come in by itself. Even though it's cool outside. I either have to turn on the fan, lower the window or turn on the AC.No hatch release button from dashboard. I will have to do this from my alarm remote control.

I still could not see a second Versa in my area yet. Even when I drove to LA. Don;t know where they are hiding.I paid $150 for seat cloths, $35 for dash cover, $170 for tinting 2 back and rear windows. They don't have these stuff in stock yet so they use my car to create their template. That's annoying anyhow.I am glad that I chose Versa over Matrix or Fit.

Car: Black Versa SL, CVT. Tech Package, 35% Tint, Window Visors, Spoiler

Post

Picked up mine 2 days ago. Black/charcoal. SL CVT with Tech package. So far I love this thing. Smooth as hell.....almost too smooth. I'm up to speed before I know it. Still waiting to feel the transmission shift from first to second and so on then I look down at the speedo and I'm doing 100kph already. The stereo sounds just ok when listening to FM but pop in a CD or six and it really pumps it out. Bluetooth is awesome. Roomy and comfortable as hell. The steering feels a bit loose.....well...just less road feedback I guess cuz of the electronic power assist but it flies around corners with no lean at all. Visibility is better than my Vibe. As for power...still kinda hard to tell cuz of the no shifty feely thing.

A couple of minor annoyances: no indicator on the dash to tell you the headlights are on....I'm used to a sensor which switches them on automatically so sometimes I forget. No light near the ignition...hard to see where the key goes sometimes. Also...how do you switch to the next random track when on all disk random play? I can only switch to either the next track on the same CD or change CD's altogether which cancels random play. Defogger isn't the greatest....this may become a problem as winter approaches.

But I love this car. Looks awesome in Black. But still waiting to see another one on the road.

Car: 2002 Nissan Sentra soon to be 2007 Versa SL hatchback

Post

Hi this is Bill from Maine. We (me & my wife)just ordered a new Versa 6 speed SL for my wife to commute to work with. We went to look at the new Sentras since she has been driving Sentras for about 15 years now. We looked at the Versa & took it for a ride & ended up liking it better than the new 2007 Sentra. I have been trying to figure out if it will get as good or better gas milage than the 2002 Sentra that we have now. My wife CLAIMS that she gets as good as 40 MPG with the Sentra. I checked the specs on a 2002 Sentra & it says 35 MPG so I don't know if she is figuring it out correctly. Any problems with the Versas that we should know about? (since we just put $250 down on one to order what we,..well my wife wants)

Oh yeah I forgot...It's Onyx Blue, charcoal interior, SL with every option that I know of except leather interior because we didn't want it. The steering wheel is leather I guess. It'sgoing to have power sunroof, Fosgate, MP3, sattilite radio etc., aluminum alloys,...you know all that stuff. We're paying just under $18,000 for it. I argued with the guy & it seemed steep to me but I'm also a cheap bastid. I looked it up on KBB.com & it came out to $17,sumthing so I guess we aren't getting boned too bad.

Welcome to the latest round of Versa owners.

Bill - I've been working on a Versa FAQ which should hit our portal page in a couple days here. Specifically there are 3 things you want to watch for, that are most common on 6-speed SL's

1) First hot day after you get your car (which, knowing Maine, may be next June), there is a possibility your clutch will start slipping with little or no warning. The ASCD switch (part of the cruise control) is sometimes not adjusted right from the factory and will slip out of place when heated up, causing the rod end of the clutch to bind up. It's a relatively quick warranty fix for your dealer, and this does not affect all 6-speed SL's (and doesn't affect any other model at all)

2) TPMS light. Know it, hate it... ignore it or learn to deal with it. The TPMS system seems to be temperamental and may end up telling you it's low when it's no, or worse yet, lose communication with the wheel sensors. There is no permanent fix as of yet, Nissan is probably working on something though because they HAVE to have noticed a pattern by now.

3) Odd wind rushing noise over 40mph coming from one side or the other. Occasionally, the robot that picks up the door at the factory and mounts the mirror accidentally dimples the metal right around the mirror mount, causing a small gap that makes BIG wind noise. This is a freebie fix from your dealer, and they should send you home with a rental or a loaner for the day while they fix it.

Other than that... can I have your car when you get it in? After I bought my V, I decided that THAT was the kind of equipment I wanted, but it wasn't available at the time (I have an SL 6MT conv, blue onyx on charcoal, with the satellite added on... but I'd love to have both the audio and sunroof too!)

I too have the Versa SL HB magnetic gray with the CVT transmission, and 15" alloy wheels. Inside I've got the 6 disc CD player and have had my windows professionally tinted. I paid about $16,200 for mine back in early September.

I almost have 3000 miles on the odometer, and haven't been impressed with the gas mileage yet. I typically get between 29 and 31 MPG, mostly rural open roads with only a few traffic lights. I typically cruise between 65 & 70 MPH with the cruise control doing all the work across flat Florida roads.

I am probably not the typical Versa buyer, having had many cars in my life thus far. I LOVE the Versa for all the reasons everyone else does, being only dissappointed with the fuel mileage so far.

Your car with the new wheels really looks sharp. What size and type of tires did you end up putting on the 16" wheels?

I have an SL, but someone I know just bought an S. I believe that for an S model that many/most would want to add the Power Package. If you value ABS, then that would be a second option to consider. When we each purchased ours, it was difficult to find ones in our area that did not come with Splash Guards - so that may be an option you'll end up with (unless you're planning on waiting out for a factory order).

ewagner wrote:I got mine on oct 11th. Its Sapphire Blue 1.8 s with auto, splash guards, and power package. And paid $15983 including tax and license. Just had to go through a big mess to end up with the auto for the same price as a standard. But i went in looking for a standard and left two weeks later with an auto. All because the manager said that the decals they had on a versa in the lot could be removed. Later found out, after i bought the car three days later, they were painted on. So it was either the dealership repainting the car or giving me a new one. So they just gave me an auto that came in for all the trips to the dealership for the same price as the standard. Works for me They sure do fear the surveys. kept asking during the two weeks did you fill out the survey yet please wait until the matter is resolved.
Good for you buddy! As for the surveys, they really want you to fill them out. I think the sales person gets a kick-back of some sort to his benefit $$$. When my sales person told me about filling out the survey I told him that if I fill it out when I get it in the mail, he needs to give me a years worth of oil changes. Unfortunately that didn't work BUT he did say that he'll give me a full tank of gas AND 3 oil changes! The thing with these sales people is that once you get them by the balls, you can slip in the little extras.

One more note...when I was negotiating and contemplating about getting my V, I decided to walk out of the dealership and tell him that I like the car BUT really don't like the fact that the windows weren't tinted. Once I got in my car, I drove off and started to head for home BUT then all of a sudden I get a phone call from the dude and he said that he wants me to come back to the dealership because he would like to sell the car to me with tinted windows. He would have the dealership tint the windows for me. I asked him if the tinting was outsourced. His answer was yes and the told me the name of the place where they tint them- I called this place and found out that they were nation wide WITH an excellent record of customer service so I turned around, drove back to the dealership and closed my deal. Sounds like the sales guy was very much in need of a sale since it was at the end of the month AND it had been raining for 2 straight days- and who would want to go car shopping when the weather is bad? lol. Plus, when the weather is that bad these guys have to make a quota at the end of the month. Smart car shopping pays off!!! Peace!

I just purchased my 07 Versa SL and really, really, really love it! My story was a meant to be story though. For the past 3 weeks my 2001 Xterra SE was acting up- engine light was one and the temp gauge was hot although it wasn't physically overheating. I took it to the dealership that morning, was dropped off to work by their shuttle and then received a phone call from my service rep. He gave me an estimate of $2500 for the repair- blown head gasket, timing belt needed to be changed, and some other issue that messed things up. I also called other shops to give me a quote and they were all $100-200 less than Nissan's quote for the repair so I was still stuck with a high amount to pay. Having 109,000 miles on that gas hogger I felt like I was at a dead end. I was paying $200 in gas a month on the Xterra and really didn't have the money to pay for the repair. And if I chose to pay it on my credit card, it would be another high interest pain in the butt to deal with. So I told myself that I need to downsize my transportation and decided to do some research.

I found the Versa and felt that would be the best way to go instead of getting another Xterra. I didn't want to pay $200 a month on gas and put that money towards my car payment. I called the service guy, he hooked me up with a sales person, and started from there. In talking to the sales guy, he told me that my trade would be worth $2200 so I threw a fit and told the guy that I'm going to take my business else where. The called me back and asked me what I wanted the car for and I told him that it was only fair that they take the Xterra for $4000. We went back and forth until we came to an agreement and he took the Xterra for $3500! I made my trade, the price for my Versa for $18,000, and ended up financing my new car for $14,500!

I have a Blue Onyx Versa, blue toothe, tinted windows, sunroof-audio-convenience package- fully loaded! The best part is that I can go anywhere and not worry so much about spending tons of money on gas. In the meantime, I'm gonna take my new V for a drive.
