Car: 2007 Nissan Versa!!!!

Post

I am a proud owner of a brand new 2007 Nissan Versa! I asked for the Grey on a Wednesday and I bought it on that same Saturday! It has a beautiful interior, black with grey and purple specks (I looked at an "S" model with solid black interior-yuck). Automatic, 6 disc changer, alloy wheels, a/c, p/w, p/l, keyless entry, hatchback, CVT, cruise, and I think it has an MP3 playback. Out the door, it was 14,713. I've only owned the car for two days now, but I love everything about it. The CVT makes it drive so smoooooth! I've already had a flat!!! So watch out for the tire pressure light, it REALLY works!! I owned a Nissan Altima before the Versa....I'll never buy anything but a NISSAN!!!!!

Some states have lower sales tax and license fees than yours. It's not impossible for someone to get out the door at sticker price on this car, when all the stars are aligned. It's not something most people would lie about, although I have known a few people in my day who, no matter what you did or had or what happened to you, they always did, had, or experienced something 10 times more amazing.

Invoice on the Versa is about 600 below sticker. I think this is a new concept for NISSAN dealers. They are used to making deeper concessions than they are able to on the Versa. I was told by one that "The discount is built-in" Of course, being car salesmen, they can't help but try and slap these stupid "early intro assessments" or markups on the vehicles just because supply is tight. They are getting away with selling at MSRP. I don't know what back-end credits there are on this car.

I paid MSRP for mine 16,905.

Hi,

Just wanted to check in with the versa that my mom just bought. It was a tough decision between the yaris, corolla, civic, and fit, but my mom is the new owner of a silver versa s. Funny that I own a 2003 maxima, that I would wait for nissan last, but we could not pass up the features that the versa has in comparison to the costlier competition. She bought the s with the power package, abs brakes, mats and splash guards for $16000 OTD (tax and DMV fees included) in new york (raped by the 8.625 sales tax, or something like that). Of course we got raped again with a passive alarm for $600, but since I had a friend who nissan blamed electrical problems with his altima on an aftermarket alarm, I figured we had no choice.

But its great to have found this forum!!

wow, i know I shouldn't do this to myself, but it does mean that Versa07 just there got the same car I did, and paid roughly 13500-14000 instead of the 17000+ MSRP before taxes and fees. These numbers are pretty amazing, and next time I'll know to assume a real invoice of more than 2000 below MSRP. Because let's face it, they're not selling a car like that and losing. The credits the dealers must be getting from the factory have to be in the 3K range below MSRP. Wow!

Thanks all for posting on this great resource, glad I found it.

There's only about a 600 - 700 mark up on the Versa. You'd be a fool to pay the MSRP. That's why you have to do your homework BEFORE you make your purchase. I shopped for about a month before I bought my car. That's how I got a good deal. They tried to tack on another 200.00 when I was at the credit union, so naturally I drove to the dealership and made a big stink. You have to be very cautious. Afterall, they are salesman......

I am sad to hear that I'm a fool then. I did do my homework before, not specifically for the versa though. I find many users on this forum that report similar prices I did (i.e. roughly MSRP + taxes and fees). I assume what you mean by mark up is the difference between the MSRP and the invoice: I took that figure into account when I started negotiating with 15 dealers. I walked out on 14 of them who could not go down to MSRP, let alone invoice, and did not have the color I wanted. Essentially I went and visited dealers who were advertising a 19000 sticker price for the CVT+CP, 2000$ above MSRP. I told them their invoice had to be 16400 roughly, if not less thanks to nissan's incentives to spread its new car. What you are telling me is that I should have dropped even further, to see them, maybe, go back below MSRP. The fact that you paid so little can only mean one thing: the dealers are buying the car for several thousands below MSRP , not just 4-600$. Then they are marking it back up as they please, but can afford to sell it to you way below MSRP. This low invoice is something I did not expect. Most people tell you to base your haggling on a putative invoice which is not so far removed form MSRP. After that comes in the game of taxes and fees. All in all, this car was not available in the entire LA basin for many weeks, they are rolling in the sedans soon, and those might appeal more to customers (don't know why). So I saved myself further headaches (my headaches are expensive ) Maybe my free oil/filter changes and tune ups for life help a little...oh well.

Versa SL - Black - charcoal interior with window TINT, Splash Guards, Floor mats, Convenience package, CVT for $16,000 (USD)+ TTLAlso bought the 5 yr/100K warranty for $850. The company default price for the warranty is $892. You can buy the warranty from a different dealer. That works out cheaper.

I hadn't even heard of the Versa until my dad called me up and let me know about it. I went to nissanusa.com and checked it out, and I mulled on it a few days. I didn't bother googling for reviews/consumer reports, which I figured would be a mistake.

Monday afternoon I went to the closest Nissan dealer, asked to see a Versa with an automatic or CVT, and the salesman pulled up in the *exact* car I'd want... the blue onyx with black interior, CVT, and enough options to keep me happy (no intelligent key or bluetooth, but I don't need or want those) -- I ended up buying it that day after haggling a bit over price, and walked out the door for $17k. I love this car, even though I already had to have it in the shop because the Airbag indicator stays blinking on the panel.

I think you are paying a premium because of your location. I didn't do any haggling on price with mine. I done all my shopping over the phone with about 20 dealers. I told the one I bought from that I had a price from another dealer, didn't tell them what it was, and if they were the cheapest I would buy it from them. They came back about $50 cheaper than the dealer who didn't have what I wanted. I told her to put a "Sold" sign on it and I was on the way. The Nissan sticker was $17125. No dealer add on sticker to the side. If you look up the invoice on any of the car shopping sites, like Chrome Car or such, it does indeed show invoice in the low $16000 range. I would think that Nissan is kicking some money back though. I don't know what price they started with but, like I said, I walked out after leaving a check for $17200. Actually it was a little less, just can't remember the exact number. In this area, most dealers are charging MSRP but I found two that were cutting better deals.

I agree, it might not have been an ideal deal, but it looks like we pay more in LA and NY. From emdunds, the invoice would be 16.4k, and the "real world" price would be the actual MSRP of 17.1k. Paying invoice in my neighborhood would then mean paying 18k out the door. I am sure some dealers have good hold-backs or even incentive (although they claim not to on this particular car). The volume of sales of the dealership also makes a difference. But more importantly it's probably also a question of whether they can get money back from Nissan if they sell the predicted number of cars within a given period of time. The dealer I bought from might have been one of the few that did not sell its SL right away, and may have gone passed that period. In which case he has to sell over invoice to make some money. The way I look at it, I may have overpaid by 1000$ if invoice was a possibility, but I think invoice was a pretty hard sale to get around here. More power to the ones who do get it, or even go below. If you look at the 50 or so prices advertised on this forum, the location matters a lot, and it looks like S model do not get such attractive prices compared to the better deals on SL models. Also, I'm reassuring mysefl by thinking that most people read specialized forums are in the upper spectrum of "good" buyers, and the ones that feel compelled to post are even more likely to have had a good deal and feel good enough to post (brag? ) about it. It is, however, a very useful exercise for consumers, and I'll even refer to these posts if I ever haggle again over a versa in the future.

Perhaps a bit off topic: it seemed ridiculous to me that the 250$ ABS package was impossible to get on the CP version of the SL. Some people (dealers) even thought it was included in the CP. In canada it looks like they get ABS on every SL. So it can't be some weird factory incompatibility between, say, bluetooth and ABS technology. So, why is it so? And is there anyhope to have it installed after the fact ?( I know after market ABS are usually terrible, but if Nissan provided the option, maybe it could be done) Is it as simple as having an electronic controller "inserted" where it needs to be?

There are very few systems inside a car that are just a simple one-piece module anymore.

ABS is no exception. You've got wiring harnesses, ABS computer, the ABS braking unit itself, wheel sensors on each wheel... at the very least. Not to mention the fact that because each wheel has a sensor that is (usually) in the caliper, the calipers for each wheel are different. Plus ABS systems are generaly 4-wheel disc... we have rear drums on our non-ABS versions. So there you've got spindles, backing plates, rotors, pads, and calipers that don't even exist.

The short of it is that it's always cheaper to order a car WITH ABS than to try to refit one that doesn't.

Maybe NICO'ers need to find Nissan's customer comment email address and express our... displeasure... that ABS is not available with any other package here in the US. As you mentioned, the Canadian SL's have it standard, and they can also have the stuff our convenience package has.

Maybe they'll give us big ol credits on ones that DO eventually have ABS and CP's?

Wow. Rear drums on a 2007 model? So that means you can't get 4 wheel discs with the most popular option packages. What is Nissan thinking?

It's done. The 4 week wait is over.

My Sapphire Blue SL 6-spd w Conv Pkg is sitting on the driveway.

I L O V E I T !

It feels so spacious inside! True test will be tomorrow when I put my hockey bag in the trunk (Stereotypical Canadian, eh?)

It's sitting beside my 2001 A4 1.8T which is now my wife's. Sure, it's missing the power and the handling of the Audi but it's not THAT far off - esp. in rush hour sitting in traffic. It's more comfortable to sit in and the bluetooth is fun to play with. I'm sold with Nissan. The Versa replaced a '94 sentra with 240K KM on it. The Versa is mature. I actually find it pretty quiet - even at highway speeds. I compare it with the RSX-S, Talon, A4, and Sentra. I don't believe any of them were quieter than the Versa.

I actually look forward to heading out to work - just for the drive!

Anyway, I've been reading this forum for about 7 weeks now while we were making the decision to buy. It's full of little tidbits of info. I don't have the cruise/clutch slip issue (yet); I haven't filled the tank yet - so there's no mileage data; I hear the "clunk" of the shifter but think it's fine because the transmission is pretty damned smooth (not quite as good as the RSX but not too far off either); no trouble lights (yet); no dent behind the driver's mirror; looks like I may have lucked out!

Thanks for all the info for all you posters have been putting on the forum!

I picked up my Versa SL on 9/14. Black, CVT, ABS, splash guards and floor mats. Waited two months because of the ABS. Paid $16,415 - basically sticker - I think I got the mats and wheel locks for free. That's before trade, tax, title, etc.

Seems solid so far. Very quiet.

Nissan Versa Airstream silver 1.8SL with CVT Canadian specs with block heater and mud flaps. No tire pressure monitor. With all the govt taxes PDE etc, total price $22, 500 CDN. I removed the styrofoam inserrt over the spare and made a 1/4 " plywood cover so I canput more stuff in the hole. The car is exceeding my initial expectations.

2007 Nissan Versa S, Grey, Automatic, Power package

I had a 96 Mazda protege, manual for the last 10 years. I got $400 in trade for it, and got $400 off the sticker price. $15K out the door.

I was interested in Versa after I saw a TV ad last week. I came across this forum and was sold. I love the look, feel and ride of this car.

My only regret is that I could not wait for the dealer to find and get one with ABS. I just had to have the one right away, so I got the one in stock.

Now to see if I get decent mileage.

Thanks folks.

I just bought the SL yesterday!

No matter how hard I tired i just could NOT find one with the convience package anywhere near GA. So I just got the base SL package.

Traded in a 2002 Dodge Neon w/ 51500 on it, only got $2000. Rather heavy damage to the rear passenger side quarter panel though. It's cool, if they had looked under the hood they would've given me less, lol. AC is a little wonky (I accidentally broke the air director) and there is a weird metal graty noise when you shift from neutral to drive or reverse. OH well, there problem now!

So I paid around 15k for it. Not so bad I think.

What was the actual prcie of the Versa?, because 15k + 2k =17k seems pretty high for a base SL. Or is 15k the actual price and you got a manual?

15k seems about right post-tax, with $2000 trade in...

I paid $15,905 MSRP for mine, and got $6500 trade-in on my Kia. I ended up, after T&L, financing just shy of $11k.

MRSP for it was 16315, they didn't charge me for the floor mats & splash guards. And since I couldn't take it home yesterday since some dumbass lost the keys to the car that was blocking my new Versa in the lot they took off another like $500.

I'd tell you exactly but I don't feel like going out and getting the contract, lol.

And I got a CVT.

I got my at the end of August

Super Black exterior, charcoal inter, 6-speed manual, S with the power package. The deal threw in the floor mats since they drove 500 miles on my car before I purchased it

I love my car so far and even though I've ran into a couple problems with my A/C and my airbags, I'm still very happy I bought it. I wish ABS was available when I purchased, I couldn't wait though.

Welp, I gave up on trying to find one, so I just ordered at the dealer today!

SL CVT Magnetic GreyI ordered it with these options:Convenience pack, upgraded audio pack, sunroof pack, XM, splash guards, floor/cargo mats, and aluminum kickplates.

$18,310. Including taxes, doc fee, and title, the grand total comes up to $19,745.50. This is near Cleveland, OH. Taxes were $1160 in case you're comparing to others here. I forgot about it at the time, but I intend to get an extended warranty - I'll add that on when it arrives and we complete the paperwork. I don't know off-hand how much more that will be, but the average seems around $850ish.

I had to put down $1000 for the order. Expected 2 month wait. :-(

I've never ordered a car before - always settled for what was on the lot. This is definately exciting :-)
