hmmm well thanks for the input. im going to have to think about it some more and figure out what i really want. i guess straight pipe intrigues me because its cheap, no big can, and has good gains.

i would say that it being loud would be a pro, but if it is raspy and tinny than it is definitely a con... hmmm

what about teddy? wasnt he running a straight pipe on his stock sohc back in the day when his car was red?

please chime in teddy...

got the 215/45s mounted out back. yesterday i removed some more neg camber and now i had SUPER toe out and its scary to drive.
Image

getting an alignment today. most likely something around these specs.
-3 to -3.5 front camber
-1.5 to -2 rear camber (as close as i can get while staying slammed)
8 degrees front caster (as close as my stock arms can get)
0 toe

today my homie hooked me up with a laser alignment
Image
best part was that it only cost $70. unfortunately my cars arms and bushings are s*** and the car is generally f*** up and we were not able to get everything aligned to where i want it. i am seriously thinking of notching my strut towers for more front camber... we will see
pics:

Image
Image

specs are essentially:
- 2.6 front camber
-2.4 rear camber
0 toe
6.5 caster

preferably i would get my front camber to -3 and rear to -2.

im also going to remove 1 or two of my front coilover collars this weekend to get about a 1 degree rake towards the front... nah f*** that i really just want my car low haha

i also decided to go out on a limb and try the 4-2-1 hotshot replica ebay header. it was only $95 shipped so i cant really complain if it breaks.

Image

installation of header, lowering of car, and more pics this weekend.

Stock/quiet exhaust all the way and never look back! My cars have always been super loud and I've come to realize that on the street it's just too much of a hassle. I love being able to hear the ticking of my turn signals and being able to have a pleasant conversation while driving. Not to mention, I used to get pulled over once a month at least in my coupe because it was straight piped, but I've never been pulled over or even looked at in my red FB because it's quiet.

ya i feel you. im probably just staying stock from catback but running this new header and a test pipe which will hopefully add a little noise and depth to the sound. thanks for the input.

suspension is my main focus now because i have realized how s*** it is currently setup after the alignment today. this car is beat!

i finally got my ebay header on.

there was an extra threaded hole on it and i wasnt sure what it was for.
Image

so i bought another plug for $10 which makes the total cost of the header $105.
Image

check it
Image

sounds a lot better. way deeper tone. i havent driven on it enough to feel the change in power yet. i am also getting a pipe to replace the cat on thursday so when its all together ill get a sound clip so you can see whats up.

peace!

that hole on the header is a perfect portrayal of ebay quality party. the plug is next to the steering column and they rub together when i turn the wheels. stupid stupid stupid. gonna have to grind the plug down in the next few days.

got my test pipe on as well, and the entire exhaust system now sits right above my frame rails which i am happy about.
Image
Image

after driving the car/heating up the manifold it has changed color. pretty cool.
Image

i also removed the two collars from the front which makes the car ridiculously stupid to drive but amazingly gangster to look at so it will stay.

hola collars
Image
adios collars
Image

Image

harness needs to be protected more because of some slight rubbing of some wires.
full car shots soon.

QUESTION

tips on increasing front neg camber? i cannot get more than -2.6 with the camber plates. i have definitely seen s13 owners run -3 or more without notching their strut towers. how is it done?

You can try s14 lca. They're allegedly 15 something mm longer. That or some Adjustable lca.

Looking good man, definitely one of my favorite cars here. I remember when you first got your car. It's exciting to see everything you've done. Are those 215/45 all around?

ya im gonna try to find some s14 LCAs. are they direct bolt on or is there modification necessary?

tires are 215/45 rear and 205/45 front. probably gonna get 215/40 or 225/40 for the front next. 225/40 would be nice for some grip if i can find some.

I'm pretty sure you have to switch out the ball joints. You know, s13 ball joints on s14 lca.

oh yep s13 blla joints are necessary. suppose i cant find stock s14 lcas, would aftermarket LCAs like megans also widen the track and increase negative camber?

Damn, that ad is confusing. Those are lower control arms posted, but for a honda not a 240. Megan does have adjustable lower control arms for the 240 though, but you have to buy their tension rods too because the construction is different. Iirc, their lca has one hole (instead of 2) for the tension rod. Frsports sells the pair but for 600 something dollars. Might as well go spl for that price. Godspeed sells a pair of adjustable lca for just under $200. There's also a nice little write up modifying them with bigger, longer shanks and heim joints for colossal roll center adjustability.... if you care about that stuff. Either way you're looking at about $200+ for brand new alca, not $80.

that makes sense. im going to keep my eyes out for s14 lcas and if i cannot find any in the near future i may buy the godspeed ones.

reinforced the speed limit sign with a couple more bolts the other day

Yeah whats up with that. I think 6 would be enough instead of 14 if memory serves correct
