I lived in J-town from '79-83 and that area has simply grown up too much. Way too much traffic for my tastes now. I really like it when rush hour only takes me an additional 10 minutes to get home hereheliochrome85 wrote:I like Louisville. Esp eastern Louisville, near Oxmoor Center.
I worked in the Aegon tower for a couple years and loved lunch during the summer time. You are somewhat correct in the segregation but it's not by design or intent. West side is a pretty bad section of town and the housing areas around the hospitals downtown is not that great either. I see most cities this way now. The way L'vlle is today is way different than it was in the late 70's when the waterfront was pretty much a mixture of steel recyling yards and the slaughter houses.hannibal wrote:I spent two yrs living in Louisville in Crescent Centre (2nd and Broadway). I did not like the city much. Yeah, some cool spots and awesome riverfront, but the people seemed to be stuck 50 years in the past. It was very segregated, which I'm not used.
I spent a lot of weekends in East Louisville, like Jillians and some other bars over that way.
One great thing about Luhvul was all the old houses. Some very nice historic homes near downtown.
Since we're talking about cities we like, I just spent a week in NYC (mostly Queens) and I am officially in love. So many people and cultures, never run out of things to do, and everybody fits in somewhere. IMO, best city in the US...
Actually, I have... Off Gulf Shores (AL) and off Martha's Vineyard (MA). Not sure why you'd assume that.hannibal wrote:You have obviously never been sailing.

One thing I always wondered, why is it that out of state republicants love to spell california with a k? I don't understand, what is it suppose to imply?themadscientist wrote:Kalifornia
I imagine there are a lot of things you don't understand. The fact that I am not a republican for instance. Why people would not want to live in a state that crushes liberty for another. The K alludes to the communist state you love so much. But you were being facetious now weren't you comrade?Kohster wrote:

1. In-state residents (Democrat and Republican) sometimes do the same too. What does Republicanism, or out of state-ness have to do with it?Kohster wrote:One thing I always wondered, why is it that out of state republicants love to spell california with a k? Please EXPLAIN to me how California crushes liberty for other states.themadscientist wrote:Why people would not want to live in a state that crushes liberty for another.
ok, but how does the letter K represent communism? I'm not sure how a single letter of the alphabet got to be known as the mascot for communism. Please, elaborate.themadscientist wrote:

Manifesto of the Communist Party, usually referred to as The Communist Manifesto, plays a large part of it. Maybe you've heard of it, if not you can probably learn about it on Wikipedia.Kohster wrote:

lame attempt at deflection K, even for you. You like government standing on your throat, fine, stay there in the land of sun, CARB, AWB, furloughs, IOUs and green extremism.themadscientist wrote:I imagine there are a lot of things you don't understand. I never thought you were republican and I wasn't referring to you either when I asked the question about repubs spelling my state's name with a K.themadscientist wrote:Typical of a partisan person reading through a filter, you took that sentence out of context. When contained in a full quote it is easy to see it was item two of a two item list.
Yeah, but the repubs always conveniently forget that their god reagan came from this state. If it wasn't for CA reagan would have NEVER been prez.srellim234 wrote:The response was for the condemnation of California in general. People seem to have selective amnesia. A great amount of good comes out of this state, too.
