Just a few more things to do. Put on hood

We looked over everything. No leaks any ware. Drained a gallon of water out of cooling system and put in a gallon of antifreeze. I wanted to run on water just in case we had to drain again and that would be less messy. Now that everything looks good we can go ahead at put the antifreeze in and I will check the specific gravity tomorrow after we "shake and mix" it up a little.

Cam behind the wheel. Still no exhaust, but what the heck. Everybody is awake and we need to get a gallon or two of fresh gas. It is safer during daylight, and Can needs some stick time, right?

Ordered the Megan Racing for the turbo. Cam wanted the single extended tip. He listened on you-tube forever and was happy with the sound. Best bang for the buck I suppose.

my question is, not to be a smart ***, you just built a high school kid a 300hp sr20 in a clean s14. WHY, dont get me wrong, i wish my dad would help me built my car. you just give a 16 or 17 year old a car that he is going to try and race. dont say he isnt going to try to race, he is. its high school and he doesnt need a car like that. this is my thoughs, but whatever. its a nice built clean car. just tell him to be careful and wear his seat belt

^^ (gmac) The one off Enjuku? Can't really go wrong with their stuff. I'm curious to see how it looks/sounds, be sure to post avid. 3" diameter right? Shouldn't be ungodly loud with the turbo, especially if you've got a decent resonator, which I think it's built in right?

Here's my point of view, because I'm in the exact same boat except I'm the kid not the parent

If you spend all that hard work, time, and money building something like that, why would you go out and be especially careless? I could understand if he had nothing to do with the build and dad just handed him the keys, but from what it looks like, he spent just as much time and effort as his dad working on it. I don't know if it's just me but I take much more pride and care in things that I have done myself than things I just bought. I would think the same goes for this kid for the car's sake. Yes I'm sure he will be pretty hard on the car, (I'll be hard on mine of course) but who wouldn't? I'm sure he'll probably push it a little too hard one day and spend the next week fixing it, I know I will. Anyways, what I'm trying to say is people tend to take much better care of things they had a part in building/making than just buying. Hopefully this applies to him also and this s14 is something he can be proud of and have for a long time.

Yeah i agree with steelcitycoupe, im still in high school and my parents got me my Eclipse, and i raced it and ended up crashing it, damaged is fixed but thats beside the point now i got to buy my own car (s13 hatch), I think it is a bad idea......or be really strict when he drives so he doesnt make the same idiotic mistake i did, because crashing a car isnt cheap and i found that out the hard way.....just remind him to be safe and keep it on the track. for the build wish my dad would do that with me

im in the same boat too, im the kid, i spend all the money on my car and did all the work on it, every last hour. i would never give my self 300hp+ unless i have 2 years of driving under my belt

thanks, i say im not going to race my coupe, but you know i do sometimes. EVERYONE does it. you should have kept the KA in it and let him blow it up then swap the sr, or swaped the sr and done something to limit speed

Where are you getting 300HP from? His setup is probably only around 200-225 at the wheels. Lets not exaggerate too much.

Great point I take no offense to you bringing it up and GFY! Just kidding. Cam has been riding a dirtbike since he was 8 years old. That does not give him a superior knowledge on how to drive a 300HP car, but it did give me the opportunity to drive across half of Ohio and West Virginia the last 8 years with him and his buddies. I'm sure you all can recall that crazy or stupid friend you had when you were growing up, that would destroy himself or his equipment when you went out for a drive. Cam has always taken care and has been a smart rider. Yup, he has been thrown a few times and knows what it is like to bail at 30 miles/hour going straight up or straight down. He also has an appreciation for safety equipment and is always the first to show a little caution when approaching a new trail or track. Some people are cocky some are confident. I think he is the latter of the two. Now.. his brother is just plain crazy!

Everybody makes mistakes and I hope he proves I did not.Gord

whatever you do dont get the car tuned for anything over 15 psi.

honestly, 12 psi will have him and his friends grinning from ear to ear for years.

excellence though, good stuff right here.

definitely tell cam to be careful in the rain and whatnot

But the car is basically a stock silvia k's with 220 crank hp, not a really dangerous car persay...I see 16 year olds in 350+ hp late model camaros..now that is a dangerous car lol

+1 for the greddy lip..and then maybe some kouki side skirts and a kouki jdm rear bumper with valances.

I'm lovin the gas prices (1.80 / gal. premium), as well as this thread

You guys gonna take it to events/meets next year? I'd love to see it running...

And you two might have inspired me to upgrade my turbo and some other shiny pieces over the winter
