I got to meet these two dudes at the Steet Life Tour over the weekend (10/25 @ Kil-Kare Speedway) and I gotta say they were pretty cool and they knew their stuff. I was the guy with the green s14 (carbon fiber hood, black roof and trunk) with an s14 SR20 as well. I gotta just give props to them actually doing all the work themselves; I've done a lot of work on my car with help of a friend or two, but as for a swap, I just sent mine to a shop and picked it up, but I can still appreciate the hard work they've put into the car.

Also, I will say that the t28, although not as beast as other turbos, is probably plenty fast for a first car

Just please, Cam, drive it like a classic and don't let your peers convince you to rag on it. And if you do feel the need, there's always a track day around the corner. Take care of it, and it will take car of you. PROPS

^ yeah don't give in to peer pressure, you have a nice fast car and i'm sure a lot of kids will want you to haul *** down a street or do some **** that might get your car damaged or impounded.

Just from my experiences, the people that talk the most smack and urge you to push your car to the limits are the people with out cars so **** them

A kind of boring update, as the new turbo has not arrived. We thought it would be a good time to clean up a few more loose ends.

We purchased a Derale adjustable electric fan thermostat.

We wired the relay into the AC electric fan LOW side. The HI side fan relay is still there and the two sides (LOW and HI) are spliced together at the fan, so the fan comes on when the AC is running and/or the temp thermostat kicks in.

Here we put the relay into the relay panel.

Kind looks like this when done. Your can see the little adjustment screw beside the relay.

OK...Now to adjust temp

Cup of hot water (boiling), thermometer, temp sensor.

Watch as temp comes down, adjust switch.

Fan will cycle on or off with switch adjustment.

CCW=lower temp CW=higher temp

Insert sensor back into core (between fins).

Works great!

HKS BOV installed. Hope it works over on this side.

Pillar gauges.

Marshall boost and oil prex. Lots of fun with the wiring

White if by day.

Red if by night.

That's it. Waiting for parts...

Should be an interesting week.

Its great to see something like this. Its like me and my dad except i bought mostly everything myself. I wish that my family had the kind of money to do this kind of stuff. My dad wont even let me get an SR until I get my license and I buy it and drop it in. You are one great dad by doing this for your son. Keep up the great work and keep us posted with progress.

Auto meter products P/N 20806 2" Black fits 1995-98 240SXI was impressed with the fit as well.

The steering wheel will have to wait. Running out of cash.

Update

Well... I woos ed out and got the GT2560R turbo. I think it was the right choice but I guess we'll wait and see. I purchased it from IPS motorsports and they seemed to be able to give me a few more things to think about before dropping the coin. I actually had my hands on GT28RS "disco potato" for a few memorable moments. I also stared down the gun-site of a GT2871R. Are you guys nuts! That thing is huge! I can't wait to get one! But not for the kid!

We bolted it to the manifold and swapped the lines. The turbo came with the oil restrictor in the inlet on top. I already had the restrictor in the fitting in the engine block oil supply so we removed it and put the old one in.

We had a few trial runs with the bolts loose so we could "clock" or rotate the center body and compressor side so everything fit real nice.

Everything back to were it was last week.

Keep the fingers crossed. Crank it up Kid.

Everything worked fantastic. No leaks. Let it warm up nice and slow. thermostat eventually kicked in. NO TURBO BLOWING UP!

The idle was just a little low sometimes, less than 700 RPM. The idle air hose into the pipe sure made a big difference. I will tweek the idle later.

Megan shipped the wrong exhaust and now I have to wait for another week.

Time for a sneak around the block.

Cam rode shotgun due to the fact that he has never driven a stick, had no license, no hood, no exhaust, and it was dark. I jumped in and adjusted the mirrors and backed down the driveway and Cam turned on the radar detector. I explained that we probably would not be speeding and that that would be the least of our problems should we happen on a speed trap. We drove around in third as I carefully feathered the throttle, trying not to wake up the neighbors, both of us giggling and keeping an eye out for "the man". I felt like a kid again. After a couple of laps, I opened her up and felt the smooth forcefull kick of the turbo, grabbed another gear and heard the BOV chirp it's contentment in it's new home. This...is addicting.

I wheeled her around and headed back home. Parked it back in the garage. We are still waiting for the oil prex gauge and exhaust, Still need to install the wheel well fairings, service the air conditioning, get a couple more clamps that fit a little better, and the hood, but we are almost there.

Waiting for partsGordon

Key word: probably

You're a good man, Gordon. 110% awesome project. I can't wait to see some vids of Cam learning to drive this beast.

Great build guys. You did it right and didn't cheap out on the parts. Your craftsmanship and attention to detail looks excellent and it's obvious it's going to pay off well. I wish you two the best, and props for a great looking build.

Btw, expect to have some competition in the near future.

awesome! this reminds me of the time me and my dad first drove my car with boost. I was riding shotgun and he took it up to 12 psi slowly, listening for any detonation or weird noises..the first time the bov goes off you can't help but break a smile lol...then my intercooler pipe popped off haha...

looks like everything is running like it should, it's all downhill from here I'd say

Hey Gord, I jut wanna say, cameron is one lucky dude. I have your threads updated emailed to my phone. So I've been following since day one.

My dad used to work on ferraris and porches, and bimmers, but lost interest in car. So I just wanna tell cameron that you're not lucky, but blessed.

I'm almost 6 mnths expecting....and I will say 100% that you inspired me to do a build with my child when he/she gets older......s15 build for sure!!!! Hahaahah or maybe s16 by then? Jeese who knows how car's will be in the near future. Say 15 or 16 years from now.

Goodluck, and godspeed Gord......and the car is sooooo sexy. What kind of wheels were you guys looking into?
