Oh, I was very worried about the turbo parts being destroyed if I just slapped them on the old engine so I was just about to call you crazy haha. But I understand what you are saying. So to clarify, your advice is to turbo the old engine in order to learn from it and learn how to turbo the engine while building a newly bought engine on the side and slapping turbo on that after my old engine blows?

If the compression is consistent across all 4 cylinders I'd say boost it, AFTER you get it back to perfect running condition. I got my 240 at 17 and didn't actually turbo it my early 20's lol. I did buy an Evo at 18 so that made me very poor until I paid it off.

How many miles did that 240 have if you don't mind me asking? And yeah, the struggles of being a high school student haha. I have high goals for the car but I have to remind myself I am a high school student and remember to keep the goals realistic.

I had about 150k at the time, with 150psi across all 4 cylinders.

That, and also getting a 2nd car for when your's inevitably explodes haha. Its nice to have another ride for when it snows out, or you break something on the project car, etc. I never really advocate relying on a project car for your primary transportation.

+1

Each time I took on a new project with a car, I usually never finished that weekend, especially something as involved as boosting.

Hi. New here. I did do my research but haven't come across the answer to my question.

So I have a 89' hatchback 240sx with the single cam engine with an automatic transmission. My question is, can I swap in the components of a 93 coupe 240sx to make my 89' hatchback manual? I know the transmission will work but what about the rest? I do mean everything that is needed. Thank you in advance. -Eden

Yeah everything will swap over. I think the only "NEW" part you'll have to buy is the pilot bushing, and flywheel if the trans you buy doesn't come with one.

You'll also need the clutch pedal, master cylinder, hydraulic lines, slave cylinder, driveshaft, and center console bits

Okay. thank you. I will keep that in mind and paper. I need to talk to the seller about the car a little more before I drive 3 hours north to take the parts from it, but for 200 I thought it was more than fair even if I have to take the parts off the car myself.

Quick Question. I have a 90 204sx and my passenger side head light is not turning on. The running lights and turn signal work but the head light doesn't go on. I checked the bulb and fuses and those are all good. I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion on what the issue may be.

Thanks

That sucks. I'd just check for voltage at the connector first just to rule out anything before it. If you have voltage there, either the connector is bad, or the bulb is bad (although you already said its good).

If you DON'T have voltage at the connector, then you could have a split/pinched wire somewhere, or a short. In which case you'll have to start digging into the FSM and basically checking the wire for voltage at other random spots.

Thanks, I will do that this week. I am hoping that the connector is just bad

hey guys, im new and im hoping to buy a 240 but i dont know if its a good idea. There is this 240 this guy is selling but i dont know if it has too much problems or if the parts are expensive or etc,and im not a 240 expert either. I have a friggin civic lol.

its a 1992 coupe 5 spd. He says the frame and rockers are clean, frame does look like it has no rust. Rear quarter panel looks horrible. It was d2 coilovers, new headers, interior looks clean and nice.

then he says it doesnt start and that it needs vacuum lines installed. Will this be an easy fix by a diy'er like me? ive put in an alternator for my civic ,oil change and took off the front grill and im sure i can do the work but do i need any special expensive tools? He says it has other miscellaneous stuff for it to run and that he has to sell it cuz his wife is nagging him and priced it at 1800, but im pretty suure he would go down to 1000, should i get it? i want it to be a project car but if its not worth it ,then i wont go for it. i need your expertise ,please help? got some pics

I've seen better cars go for $1000. I mean, if it comes with the trailer I guess its worth it, but that thing looks pretty rough.

I bought my 240 in 2005 for $1000, running and no rust, just no A/C.

I'd say $1000 too, only IF it included the trailer, and you're willing to spend a couple grand in getting it into proper shape.

You have no idea the shape of the engine, could be A LOT more than he's leading on, and theres no way to verify until you start working on it, which means you have no idea about the transmission, driveshaft, rear end, the coilovers could be blown as well, you can't know in that condition.

The body looks more than rough... I'd say keep looking for something running and in better condition, it would definitely be worth it to pay the extra coin and not suffer though fixing someone elses mistakes and abuse. Especially being your first 240. Good luck on your quest!

I have a quick question I need answered. I have a 96 240sx, it has manual locks.. I just bought every body part off a LE kouki (power locks), and when I put the doors on my car and pulled the lock cylinders out, noticed the cylinders were different... I got a quote in order to have the cylinders keyed its gonna be $130.. is there a way to use the old loc cylinders that way I dont have to waste $130, and id only have to use one key. Not several?

The power lock cylinder has a plug attached to it,metal piece where a pink clip thing is in it.. The manual one has no sensor, the metal piece with pink clip on it is a good bit larger and extends out more, has a rectangle cut out on the extended part..

Basically you host the picture somewhere and then paste the link between the image html tags.

Do you have the key to the donor car? If so, you could just pull out the ignition cylinder as well and just use all the new components on your old car, with the new keys.

Dont have the key and cant get the ignition cylinder. Got it all from a guy parting out a totaled sr20 kouki. I bought all the body parts and the next day a guy from Tennessee came and got the rest of the car for the engine swap.

On a side note.... I have all the kouki parts on the car now except for the bumper, headlights and turn signals.. I got a jdm bumper, headlights, and turn signals.. how would I go about wiring for the turn signals?

Would it not just be plug and play with the factory harness?
