mcheddadi, I think that you have the top brackets backwards. Take a close look at your pictures, and compare them to the ones in the instructions or on Stillens website (of adidas' car). If you switch them to the opposite sides, then it should work, I guess. I can't really say because Mine haven't even shipped yet since we ran Stillen out of parts.Actually, look here:See that the top bracket is the other way around?

I tried putting the top brackets that way with my dampers rods down instead of rods up like in that picture. it just won't work.

the only way this works with rods down is the way I did it.

If you put your dampers rods up like in that pic, you won't have any problems installing it with the top brackets like they did. BUT when you open your hood it'll spring up real fast and stop abruptly at the top and then shake all flimsy like.

if your mount it like in the picture in the install guide and like blake did, watch out for you face when the hood opens!

if you try rod down like me, bolt them the same way I did on the picture for the upper brackets. that way you'll be able to close the hood without any gap and you'll have the smooth opening with slowdown before the top

Sigh... I gotta say Stillen has some of the best reps I've ever seen. Even when I worked for Cingular I didn't give as fast a response as Kyle and Josh. But Its hard to respond when grandma doesn't know how to turn off her phone...

Hey McheddadiCan you do me a favor and take some pics of where you have to make a notch on your headlight housing? I want to see how you did it, or if you really need to.

best I could do:

Thx bro, how big of a notch or cut did you make? Just wondering, because on the instructions, it doesn't mention the size to cut, it just shows a crappy pic.

So any word from stillen? Because every other companies dampers i see are rod bottom. thick part on top. And mcheddadi seems to be experiencing the same thing, i get my dampers tomorrow and i want to hear an OFFICIAL way to install them. Someone from supernissans.net said that it should be rod down because that way it will stay lubricated, if you do it rod up, eventually the lubrication will wear off quickly.

Hi guys,

We have new instruction sheets, with some additional photos, hopefully that will assist in installs.

In regards to the struts themselves, and whether they are rod-up or rod-down, it is typically advisable to have the strut body above the rod for lubrication purposes, this is for struts that remain in that position.

Our R&D department had spoken to the manufacturer of the strut before completing the kit, and they confirmed this was no problem for this setup. The struts are not installed backwards!

Here is a link to the instruction sheet: http://www.stillen.com/product...t.pdf

Just received a call from kenny@stillen to see how my Springs/Exhaust Install went and to let me know that they had my order for the hood dampeners... I think Stillen is my second favorite company (behind google)!

So they arent backwards but the manufacturer suggested thicker at the top, rod at the bottom when used in something where the assembly would be vertical most of the time, correct? So even if installed them strut up, rod down, there wouldnt be any adverse effects?

I installed mine w/ the rod (thinner tube) up it just worked, kinda hard to get it down at first, but no issue here. Though looking at Stillen's updated instructions w/ updated pics, I installed the bracket (the one you attach to the light housing ) UP maybe I will flip them upside down .........but it seems to work so ......we'll see

when you let it open itself (after a light push to get it to move by itself) doesn't It just fling itself to the top violently since you mounted it rod up?

If it doesn't do that, then I might have gotten the wrong dampers, because mine are to strong when mounted rod up like stillen...

I'm going to go make a video of how mines open.
