I don't think it will be necessary to do that if you attach the little metal clips to the rod. However, I can't get my clips secured! What is the secret for installing them? Do you put them on the cups first then force the cup over the pin? When I try to attach them after the cup is connected to the pin the metal rod won't slide through the hole in the cup. Help please!
Im talking about the threading between the bolts and the socket. Since the rod will have two threads on both sides, theres the possibility of the rod itself twisting from vibration over time

so i switched mine to rods down tonight, and its not possible for me. i dont know about anyone else but when i put them rods down, when i go to shut the hood it wont close. the nut that holds the bracket on the hood hits off the damper thus not letting it go down. it opens much more nicely rods down, but id rather be able to close my hood. rods up for me!

Did you swap the hood brackets? When you go from rod up to rod down, you have to switch the hood brackets so it'll sit closed.

The ONLY way for rod down to work when you close the hood is to assemble the upper brackets the way I posted in page 3:

I am being easy... Not trying to butt heads just stating that I'm also waiting; waiting patiently.

Its just the internet no reason to get upset.

To some people... calling them "little buddy" may be sending the wrong message (especially since Dr has bigger wheels than you lol)...

Waiting patiently is a virtue...

I choose to wait impatiently, and for some reason it works out better for me that way! lol, i have my hood dampers!

I have no problem waiting for the hood dampers, I just don't like being d!ck around... this day, no this day, no this day, no this day... finally Kenny from Stillen called me this morning and told me that the arrival date for the dampers is up in the air, and they didn't know when they would be in... I can live with that, that's perfectly fine, I just don't like being lied to! Had they told me that from the beginning, it wouldn't be a problem!

Also, I was the one that waited until the last day to order the dampers, so if they went out of stock then that's my fault, and I'm OK with that. But I HATE being given the run around and being told something different everytime I call in regarding an order!

Its not about getting upset, you just need to watch how you address people... give respect, get respect, give something else, get something else!

so tonight i got off work a little early and had some things to do. i was goin to switch these dampers around then was like no. buuuuuuut i couldnt help but to do it anyways. well me being tired and messing with bolts under a hood isnt good. i was taking one of the nuts off from the top bracket and it dropped straight down and sounds like it came to rest in the wheel well i was just telling myself be SUPER careful you dont drop it. went to the local home depot and lowes and they do not have the dam bolt i need. i tried 5/16-18, 5/16-24, 8mm-1.0, and 8mm-1.25 threaded lock nuts and none work. its the nut that fits on the end of this...

if anyone can tell me what dam thread that nut is, it would be great!

ahhhhhhhhh i hate my life, no luck

well, I got charged for the discounted amount (for the hood damper) today by Stillen, so my guess is that they will be on the way soon... ever been really hungry, ordered food and it took so long for the food to get there, you had lost your apetite?... that's me right now regarding the hood dampers... I'll probably wait until a few days b4 the Stillen meet to put them on...

Hey guys,

I am really sorry about the delay in getting these last orders shipped out.

You all bought us out and we weren't expecting the overwhelming demand. We ended up selling out twice. Finally we got another large order of hood shocks in yesterday and our assembly division went flat out in putting them together and a bunch of them have shipped yesterday and today. By the end of the day today all of the open orders should be shipped and on their way.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey MC:I got my hood shocks today and I intalled them like you, and they worked like a charm, it took me 30 minutes.

However, I could not get the Stillen sticker to line up correctly, one sticker is facing in, and the other is facing up. Oh well...

Did you have to cut the plastic piece to acommodate the big part of the shock? When closing the hood.

cut the plastic piece?

like remove the little plastic walls at each side of the hood like in the instructions?

the only thing I cut was the plastic upper part on the headlight to fit the lower bracket

Yeah... i tried them the stillen way and the way... the hood rattles at the top "flimsy" is a good word to describe the movement and sound.. Rod Up as mcdaddi shows.. is the way to go... I assume they dont need to be twisted all the way into the ball-joint thing because if they are, they dont line up... I have mine loosened slightly so the STILLEN logo faces inward..

I used a small "boulon" (don't know how to say it in english lol )to have the both Stillen vinyls to be outside

Yes, I did it just like you. Did not remove the little plastic walls.

Thank you very much!

Function over looks. I twisted all the way into the ball-joint. That is way they don't line up.It really doesn't bothers me at all. I am not sure how many times I will open the hood. , and I am not into shows...
