You are actually right ***heatw***. I've seen and drove one of this JDM 180sx and they don't have that dimmer illumination switch which USDM's do have. Also that spot is for the JDM fog light switch, and I have that switch installed into my USDM hatch for my S15 OEM foglights (see picture below).I still have that problem when I turn down the illumination which is the fan makes noise, and even if your fan not running it will run when you turn down that illumination switch. What did you do to make that fan noise deleted, and still make that illumination work with the fan correctly? You should let me know your secret about this FAN ISSUES...

Actually yes they do dim and if your having fan problems when you dim your lights you wired it wrong. It really helps when you use the JDM main harness... uh hem ... like myself....... If you wired your illumination to the dash illumination it will dim like its supposed to. If you just wire it to any driving light source then you will have only 2 light settings. Only the numbers with lights off and background lighting with lights on. You have to wire it to the right circuit.

I am installing the DCC from a 180sx front clip in my 240sx. Should I use the JDM main harness or just use the USDM main harness? (The JDM harness is cut where the back of the car was cut off under the driver’s seat) Anyway, I am trying it with the USDM harness and am very confused now (not with the harness thing). I swapped the JDM blower speed sensor, installed the mix door motor, sun load sensor, cabin air temp sensor, hooked up the three positive wires (single red, blue/red, and green/white). I also went to the JDM thermo sensor. My first problem is the usual when I plug in the fan motor plug (USDM) it goes to full blower (people have talked about this before, but I never found out how to fix it). My second problem is I had the DCC powered up but it flickered on and off before, but now it wont even turn on. What is up? I just want to finish this so I can put my car back together (no dash). Thank you very much for any information anyone has, I really appreciate it. Have a great day!

Got ahold of some more sensors for the digital conversion.Sunload sensors - Needed for AUTO function to work.

Ambient temp sensors - Needed for AUTO function to work.

Blower motor speed sensors - Needed so you can cycle through fan speeds.

$20 a piece. Paypal preferred

Thanks,

It was easy as long as I followed the instructions that ericherm1 provided in this thread. As far as the swap goes...I would like to know the answer to that question myself. If someone does this swap with a KA and then swaps in a SR...will the DCC still function without any modifications?

I donot where to wire the ambient temp sensor. Can somebody help me with this? Also, for the in-vehicle air temp sensor, if it is not working, will it affect the havac motor. (Because I tired like 50times and it will not move when normal operation, but it does in the test mode and in 50, my temp sensor reads -30C, so is it not working, or do I need to plug in the ambient temp sensor to make it work also?).

Thank youJesse Tang

I don't know about installing the dcc with the ka and then swaping to sr, but from what little I know about the wiring when swaping to sr, there shouldn't be any problems.

ventrex, you do not have to remove your dash to install the dcc.

jessetang, check the link in my sig for wire locations, and the air mix door motor will not move if the cabin temp sensor is disconected.(don't ask me how I now that)

^ Yea, I just pulled the dash because one, this is my project car and I don't have to drive it every day and two, It is easy to remove and gives you lots more room to work. Also, you can remove the dash support beam and beadblast (or wash) the rust off and paint it like me!

On the inside right next to the fuse box you will see a WHITE plastic small box and next to it is a BLACK plastic small box that they have a wire plug. Did you unpluged them? If incase you did make shure they are pluged in right and tight....Just incase you unpluged them. This what happens to me before...If this wont work double check your wirings set up. If things goes by correctly...last thing I could think is do you have the JDM Fan Blower Speed Sensor? If you don't you have to get one of this. I sell them by the way.

LOL, I have one and it is installed. well, let me tell you what I did do then you can tell me what i missed.-took out the dash-removed manual C.C.-replaced manual slider on mix dor w/ JDM mix door motor-installed JDM fan speed sensor-grounded the red w/ yellow wire-12v powered the green w/ white, solid red, and the other wire that beatupsx said to-installed the sunload sensor-installed cabin temp. sensor-**didn't install the ambient temp. sensor but that only affects the auto function**

thats about where i am at with it. Any advice you have i greatly appreciate. I don't think i touched the box you are talking about but i will look (I still don't see why the fan turns on with my headlights LOL). Sorry it took so long for me to get back, I was at an automotive competition and have gotten sucked into my SR swap the last few days! thanks again

Beatupsx- I just stole a 12v feed that goes into the DCC (used a little bit of wire and made a connection by sticking one end into the connector on the side that the wire feeds into the connector so that I didn't break that circuit but had 12v. I then used this wire to the three needed power wires. This was just a temp. Solution to test it out.) The headlight thing is just strange because I don't see why there would be a headlight... wait is the illumination wire running to the MCC a big wire in the middle of the 8 or whatever pin plug? But I thought that the wire had 12v with the headlights off so I don't know. LOL thanks for your help, I am just very confused now and heed all the help I can get.

Is there anything missing from my list above that I need?

Can someone please tell me where you get the JDM Havac motor (or air mix door motor) from? I have everything else, but I'm unable to locate the havac motor. I cannot find it on ebay or when I try searching for it in Google. I live in the Netherlands btw.

"can anyone tell me what the green red wire on the seven pin plug does ?"

The green/red wire goes into the intake door motor the one that open or close the vent in or out of the car. You will see the plug that have 4 PIN wire and one of those is empty and basically that where it goes.

Because you cannot change the color of a lcd display.
