Hello all, I'm atempting to do the digital climate control swap myself and have found vertually no info on how to do it besides the 2 confusing posts in this forum.

I have it working completely except the blower motor. I'm having trouble with that part. So I'll just give what I can now to help everyone else out.

First off you need the subharness from the digital climate control. For the unit to turn on and cycle through the havac options you need to swap these wires:

Sub Harness: Red -> to 3 red wire harness on the radio, connect it to the -> Red/Black wire (BAT+) Green/White -> from 7wire plug and insert it to the large white harness next to the Green/Yellow wire, the corresponding 240sx wire is -> Blue/Orange (IGN+)

240SX Harness:

Red/Yellow -> from large white harness to -> Chassis Ground (GND-)

Unplug the factory fan realy.

This will allow the unit to function and cycle through the havac options. My problem lies within the pink wire, I think this is a ground. When the Analog unit is pluged in when in any operation position its grounded (no power). When you plug the Digital unit in it becomes positive and I think that this is the reason why the blower motor will not work. Anyone know how to fix or wire this properly????

This instructions are for 89-94 S13 240sx's using S13/180sx digital units.

I also attached a pic of the wiring for everyone. Thanks, Eric

Well now it wont cycle through the blowing patterns such as face, floor, defrost?????????????? And i didn't change or touch any of those wires???

For gods sake HOW DO I GET THE BLOWER MOTOR TO WORK RIGHT!!!!!

Bangin my head against the wall trying to figure this out.

Those of you that have done this on a S13 Please give me your input and possible pics or some sort of direction.........

Ok I fixed it and it works perfect along with all the auto options. Here is what you need to do the swap easy and perfect.

You need: JDM termo sensorJDM blower motor speed sensorJDM Havac motorJDM Sun sensorJDM ambient air tempJDM harness.

Here's some pics on the install.

You will have 2 extra Blue/Red wires connected to the blower plug on the JDM harness. You will just cut off and tape down the one closest to the climate control and then the one closer to the blower motor you will attach a male spade connector or clip and solder to the Blue/Red wire from the US OEM blower motor plug.

Here is the blower motor speed sensor and thermo sensor with custom bracket.

I don't have a pic of the recirculate/fresh air door motor but you will have to splice from the JDM motor plug into the corasponding wires on the larger US OEM Analog Climate control plug, unless you can take the blower box out to get to the re/fresh air door motor. I could not with out taking the dash off so I just spliced the US OEM motor wires to the JDM ones.

sweeeett!! I love to do this mod on my ride, and the pics are worth a thousand words..... Question: Is the removal of the dash necessary to accomplish the installation of the control and sensors????

Looks nice, now all you need is the HUD cluster and it will be awesome....

Here are the wire diagrams for the Analog and Digital Climate controls. They are from a Nissan Maxima but they are basicly the same for the Nissan 240sx and JDM silvia/180sx.

WOW! I am speachless. You are the first person I know of to have completely installed the digital climate control, get everything operating, and the be kind enough to share the information along with pictures. Way to go. I also want to know where you got those parts, I have a clip that came without the digital climate contro, but I noticed that it has a sun sensor. Do you know if I can pullstuff from it?

Thanks,Mike

They all came on my front clip. But you can get them elsewhere I'll repost a referance that I found a while back on how to source the sensors here in the USA.

If you have the complete JDM dash harness and sensors then you are there and will have a much eaiser time with the install.

But if you just bought your digital climate control off of eBay or some other store and only have a cut harness then you need these parts to make your own harness and some other areas to find sensors that will work from other cars:

1. Japanese Digital Climate Control 2. Plug to fit Japanese Digital Climate Control (from 89 Infiniti i-30) 3. Sunload sensor* (from 96 Maxima) 4. Plug for Sunload sensor* 5. Ambeint Air Temp Sensor* (from 96 Maxima) 6. Plug for Ambient Air Temp Sensor* 7. In-Vehicle Air Temp Sensor* (from 96 Maxima) 8. Plug for In-Vehicle Air Temp Sensor* 9. Aspirator* (from 89 Infiniti i-30) 10.Thermo Control Amp (from 96 Maxima) 11. Plug for Thermo Control Amp 12. Thermal Transmiter (from 89 240sx) 13. Plug for Thermal Transmiter * = Not needed if you do not wish the AUTO function to work. AUTO fuction keeps interior at a selected air temperature.

-Extra Parts you need to make a new harness 14. Plug for Intake Door Motor 15. Plug for Door Mode Motor 16. Plug for Air-Mix Door Motor 17. Plug for Bi-level Door Motor 18. Plug for Blower Motor

You can use your existing US OEM harness but you must unwire the High speed fan relay ie. the blue relay beind the stereo and analog climate control.

The sun sensor is to detect differance in heat coming in through the windows to the ambient temp sensor that is in the center console.

If it has the sun sensor then you should pull the complete harness out along with everyother sensor, don't forget the outside air temp.. its located on very bottom of the hood latch mounting bracket. I pulled everything including the actuall heater core, A/C core and blower core just incase I needed something from them.

Oh and very important.... " Take lots of pictures" once you take them out you will forget where some things go or how they go.

what does the hvac motor look like, and is the censor in the center console really necessary? can i just splice my USDM harness with those plugs, or did u use the whole jdm harness?

I used the whole JDM harness except the power point (blue/red) on the US blower motor harness. I just tapped into that wire. You will need the center console sensor to utilize the AUTO feature on the climate control.

You are the MAN, man. Like the other guys said, you must be the first one to fully complete this on an s13 and share the info.

Now I can resume my digital climate control dream - gotta go find parts, hahaha.

I smell sticky sticky sticky.

The only part of the JDM harness you need are all the wires and connectors that come from or go to the climate conrol. The rest of the dash is obsolite.

You can use the US dash harness but I think that would be too much work, you could make your own harness if you get an Extra US harness from a junkyard. That way you can only hook up what you need and bypass the US High speed fan switch------->the most problematic item in the swap. Thats why I used the harness that came in my JDM clip.

The JDM harness doesnot have the highspeed fan relay in it. It is actually located in the sub-harness that connects between the digital unit and the dash harness.

Alright all, I just got my new Digital unit in the mail and installed it due to the fact that when I was trying to use the US harness I fried the Mode adjustment moduel inside the Digital unit. I couldn't get the US harness to work right so I used the JDM one as stated above.

***************************In order for the Mode adjustment to work right you must re-pin the JDM harnes's brown bi-level door plug to the same wire color configureation as the US plug.

If you don't repin the plug it will still work but the face mode will be defrost and floor will be bi-level and so on.

***************************

Wonderful, I had done this in my last car and had the blower motor problems, I kept the stuff when I got my new one and will be doing it all again when I have the time to put in my new crack free dash. I would like to get ahold of your instructions and pictures but it won't let me:File attachments can only be linked from the message board server; Outside linking is not allowed.
