Was this warranted?
Girl was stopped for jaywalking and started arguing against it with the cops, becoming belligerant....
he tries to arrest he, she resists arrest, and her friend tries to get him off of her (why? wtf, dont resist arrest ***hole)
but then he punches her in the face.

f*** that. that cop was totally justified in punching her in the mouth. one was resisting and the other was interfering with an arrest. the situation needed to be controlled so he handled that one chick. and she still resisted. the baton should have come out.

Had she not been a little **** and just took the ticket, that would not have happened. Ignore a cop when he is trying to give you a ticket and then try and fight when he grabs your arm to cuff you and you deserve and good punch to the side of the head. f*** her. Should have tazed that b**** too.

QFMFT. I hate being bothered by cops. But it's unlikely you'll catch me mouthing off or doing something stupid. Why? Because they can arrest me and it wont make my life any easier. I'd make a terrible cop because I personally think that if they draw a weapon on you and tell you to freeze, the instant you start running they should shoot you. I'm cool with that. So, hell yes this chick deserved to get stuck in the jaw.

you DON'T resist arrest. the moment you do, you become a threat to the officer(s)'s safety and they can and will take you down, within reason. that punch, was a quick, effective, measure. stunned her enough to partially subdue her. she kept resisting and should have gotten her a** beat.

I FEEL A LOT SAFER NOW THAT THE JAYWALKER IS NO LONGER WANDERING AIMLESSLY AROUND THE CITY. SHE PROBABLY HAD WEED IN HER PURSE THAT SHE WAS GOING TO SELL AND DONATE THE PROCEEDS TO THE TERRORISTS.

No, it was stupid. Police officers are taught how to deal with belligerent people. If the crowd didn't have cameras, the result could have been much worse for him. He was outnumbered, almost overpowered by teenage girls, and I didn't see him use his radio to call for backup. His zeal for apprehending the evil jaywalker caused him to disregard his own safety.

A rookie retard who learned his lesson.

trying to restrain one, while another is grabbing at you doesn't leave much room/time for using your radio. he did seem a bit young, maybe still fresh out on his own, trying to prove that he can hack it?

i see him try at one point in the video. he grabs at it and pushes the button on his shoulder but he isnt able to talk because he needs that hand to try to hold the girl from running/hitting/whatever she was trying to do.

He probably spent a lot of time playing video games when he worked at Best Buy and thought he could be a real life superhero.

I'm also not seeing how any of this is racial. She should have calmed her a** down and he should have been evaluating the whole situation. Once other parties become involved, you begin to lose control of the environment and everyone's safety is compromised. He had to make a decision between letting it spiral out of control or backing off and calling for help, even if she runs.

She wasn't posing an immediate danger to the rest of society, so the risk vs reward disfavored him. If she was running up and down the street stabbing people, then his decision process may have been more sensible.

it's automatically racist when the "victim" is black and the man is involved.

she should have gotten pepper sprayed and tazed for resisting...and then i'd call for backup while she's squirming around on the floor.

I didn't realize that at first. But I agree completely. Stace, don't link that garbage again. It's like tricking someone into watching twilight.

A real upstanding member of the community. And her friends in "the community" have been quick to defend her despite her criminal record (I'm guessing shoplifting? Assault?) and influence the police chief selection process.

Seattle needs to be careful about how it handles this politically, because its little incidents like this that cause an exodus, send neighborhoods to the s***, and turn a prosperous metropolis into Detroit. [Maybe its a bit unproductive to cite jaywalkers.]

Boeing has officially moved to Chicago. Other businesses are following and few are willing to come to a Democrat-dominated state that treats business like the enemy. Its sounding a lot like Michigan. "Sleepless In Seattle" is quickly turning into "Escape From LA"

White police officer hits a black female, its like the movie "National Security" all over again (Except its a girl this time).

I wonder what the laws are for resiting arrest and what a officer has the right to do to the person resiting arrest.

I agree with Jesda, he handled it poorly in the first place. But he was right to punch her in the face. No need to resist arrest. I have seen WAY worse things happen when people resist, never mind try to pry an officer off of a some one getting arrested.

I find it humorous that all the black people stand around watching and instigating the problem.

The one white girl walks by without a care, and then stands back and laughs.

Arrested for jay walking? hmm.. cops need to learn to give warnings instead of getting all ticket happy and thinking they are god with their badges. i hate stabborn cops. i got a seat belt ticket last week while i had my seat belt on, the cop was mistaken but didnt wanna admit to his s***, instead of warning me or understanding that he is wrong he gave me a ticket.

sat in car, put on seat belt turned on car, signaled and drove off 30 feet away from the parking spot and got a seatbelt ticket, what the hell is that he was in front of me and saw the whole thing happen.

Completely justified. I don't care if you are black, white, a hairy greek who secretly wishes Tito was the one stroking you at night, you simply can not resist arrest. Period. I would have done the same if i felt threatened. Look at the group standing around the cop thinking it is a good idea. Hell i give him more respect for showing restraint and keeping his firearm restrained.

Did you not see and hear the video?

I'm willing to bet that the officer approached the female and was going to issue a warning. She probably copped and attitude that caused the whole situation to escalate.
