i'm brown and they get none of my sympathy. hitting women is one thing. a cop subduing an unruly perp, who happens to be female, is another. what if they started punching him. should he have just stood there, getting pummeled? call for backup and request a female officer? naive vigorous is naive.

If they punched the guy Im sure a legit charge of obstructing an officer would see it self in the court system and for a judge to pass punishment.

What if you had two daughters that were mentally unstable for what ever reason (being held of their free will ), should they be punched in the face for resisting arrest and for not giving the officer their names?

i never said they held up traffic, i said it's a possibility that they crossed at an inopportune moment. when i walk around downtown new haven, i jaywalk. but i also wait until the coast is clear and i have ample time to cross without causing anyone to have to even touch their brakes. if i ever got cited, sure i'd be annoyed, but i'm not going to argue and piss the cop off.

don't throw mentally unstable people out there. it has nothing to do with anything. now you're trying to garner sympathy pleas and an uprise over fair treatment of people with conditions. these two girls weren't slow, retarded, down's syndrome, cancer patients, one f*** leg shorter than the other. they were a pair of normal hood rats who think that they don't have to take any crap from anyone. problem is, they were really mistaken. they broke a law, and tbh, i bet they would have gotten off with a warning, but they mouthed off and escalated the situation and made things much worse for themselves. we call those, stupid decisions.

Maybe you're not seeing this right. Now wait, you're not seeing this right. As a police officer, you have to confront a bunch of strangers every day. You don't know how these people act, what their reactions are, or if they are armed, so you have to assume the worst relative to the situation. There is a reason cops get pissed off when you're all lounging in your car when they pull you over. Placing my keys on the roof of my car, telling the officer every move I'm making, making sure my hands are in full view at all times, and showing full cooperation have gotten me out of a few tickets.

That being said, when two lippy, know-it-all, ***holes start grabbing at you and resisting arrest, you have to take into consideration that your gun IS right in your holster, and is easily reachable by any assailants. This cop didn't pummel away and make hamburger meat out of this chick's face. He gave her a disorienting hit in the face, effectively reducing the threat and allowing the officer to take control of the situation.

People aren't afraid of cars. They NEED to be, or they need something else to get their brains in gear and keep them from strolling out in front of them. The commonly held (and legally supported) idea that "pedestrians always have the right of way" has led pedestrians to believe they have no responsibility for their own safety when crossing traffic. The reality is that whatever the laws may be, my car can only make certain maneuvers.

The law is stupid, but needed. Driving around Chicago I used to get pissed that cops wouldn't stop people for jaywalking. I'd be driving in the rain and some moron would decide to cross right in front of me with a child in their arms. I'll try to stop. I will. But if the road is slick I have limited options. I saw this on a daily basis. Then, couple that with everyone being in a rush to avoid traffic and get home, most other cars were speeding. It's a recipe for disaster and needs to be dealt with. In the interest of self-preservation, you wont catch me darting out into traffic. I may jaywalk when no one is around, but I'm wicked allergic to death so I avoid conflicts between vehicles and my body.

could of? first, it's could have. second, as a cop, everyone is a potential threat. what's to say that the punched girl didn't exit stage left and come back with a weapon? s***, when my mother was growing up in the bronx, her and my aunts would go out with razors in their hair in case they got into a fight (my mom's hardcore, btw). anything is possible.
