huh well i stand corrected. I thought they were the same. I have never even had a KA lol. I got my car as a shell and immediatly installed an s14 sr. IMO the sr is the best bang for the buck engine out there for a 240sx if you plan on keeping it stock. But if you are planning on building an engine it is def not the ideal engine.

But yea if you went 2jz you would pretty much have one of the baddest s14s out there.

Yea, I was thinking about going sr because it is the most straight forward "bang for the buck" but if I did an sr, I would do rhd. Everyone has sr's around my area and I am trying to do something a little less common but its getting warm now so I gotta make something happen. I dont wanna be out of a car all season long ya kno.

Sorry about havin no pics guys. I will try and bring my sd card into work tomorrow.

I bought a 5 lug swap . I have takin the rears off so far and tonight, I hope to take off the fronts to clean and get ready for a brake upgrade. I also plan to make a fender brace tonight...or attempt to and try to make my own power brace(Thanks FlatblackIan for the Idea). I was also thinking of modding some suspension parts and subframe parts for extra stability but that will come later.

*Anybody have an idea of what rear brake setup I should run with. I figure I will go z32 up front but idk about the backs. Brakes aren't really my strong suit.

J14cm7 wrote:If your gonna go all out on engine and have the cash be badass and go 2jz. Best engine out there and the sky is the limit. Most hp that an rb has seen is about 800 on stock internals. A KA hasnt come close to that. KAs blow up with 10psi and over. why put the cash into a KA when you can go rb or even better 2jz?
You have no idea what you are talking about. Tell that to cory who is boosting 22 psi and 400+ horse power on stock internals. Just stop why you are ahead i dont want to embarass you.

Yes i do have a build check it out. But if you have the cash i would agree 2jz, but it is not cheap people spend upwards of up to 10 stacks.

Sorry for the thread jack bro but i cant let ignorance go.

Sir if that engine is still running a year from now after being abused on a weekly basis then i will personally kiss your feet. I'm not arguing that it cant happen im arguing that it cant happen for long. Ive seen T3/T4 stock Honda engines with close to 400 hp and lets just say that i haven't had to kiss anyone's feet yet.

^ you are correct BUT RB and SR swaps have gotten a lot cheaper in the past few years. I don't want to get into a KA vs. RB/SR swap debate but I would just like to throw out there that the KA is a very sturdy but under-rated engine. Iron block, oil squirters, bucket and shim valvetrain(no rocker arm stopper bullsht lol) and internals that can produce a reliable 300 rwhp. In my personal preference, I would want forged internals for anything over 270whp on a daily basis..I just don't like to be a hair away from having a 400hp KA-T to a 400 piece KA-BOOM.

When I pulled my motor out, I decided to just freshin it up with all new OEM rings, seals, gaskets and bearings since this motor's never gonna see anything past 270whp on a daily basis.

Spooled as usual you can bring sensibility to any arguement.

I was hoping you had more sense than that. Any idiot can strap a huge turbo on a KA. its whether its reliable or not. I could get my sr up to 450+ but it would most likely blow up in a week. Glad we are in agreement

***UPDATE***Here is the paint supply list with cost. Roughly around 370 for everything: primer, base, clear, hardener and reducer.

Now, I started with my rear brakes. I had my girl helpin me out. We drained all four brakes and removed the rear calipers for now. Here is a string of rubber from the last drifting sesh I guess.lol I also started on my home made power brace(props to flatblackian). I first removed the front swaybar(junk that was on it when I got the car). Then I removed the front Tension bars. They were dirty.lol. After that, I tack welded some square tube to the front supports before I removed them so I could keep them in their place when Iit was time to take them off. After that, I cut down a section to fit flush and welded it in.

I haven't picked them up yet but I got a pair of front brembo brakes from an evo for my car. Can you say BIG BRAKE TIME???

***UPDATE***Got some more work done to the front brace. It is a VERY VERY easy mod you can do yourself. The NISMO Powerbrace runs from $150-250 range. I bought all of the materials with extra left over for $40. So far, I have used my 6' square tube with some left over and that cost $20 from home depot. I also bought some more 16ga. sheet metal for added support(optional) for $10 per square foot.

On with the pics...

Not the best welds but a little sanding/grinding will fix all. strong enough for me to jump on and not move tho...

I like what you've done so far, although I wish you'd only kept the zenki front end.

Oh well, not my car, it's yours.

I too was victim of a unfortunate wreck. At least you got to keep your car. I had to start on another car after my white one got raped out from under me.

Like where you're going with it, keep it up.

***UPDATE***

I finished up all of the fabrication on the brace. All that is officially left is paint. After I finished welding the brace bars on, I sanded what I could get with the 4 inch flapper wheel down to the metal.

After I brought it to metal, I clamped my sheet of 16ga. steel on to the first arm in the position I like and traced around it. Once traced out(remember to mark which side its for), I clamped it to the table and began to cut.

Once I cut the sheet out, I grinded the edges down with my bench grinder so that the edges were a little shorter than the edge of the brace. This way I could run an even weld on to the brace and the new sheet. I began by clamping the sheet down and than tack welding it in place. I did it kind of like you would tighten your lugs, I went corner to corner switching sides so It wouldn't warp or anything(not sure if it would but it doesnt take much time and can save you from it happening).

After finishing the first side, I just repeated the steps and finished the next side. And here is the final product

Nah, haven't worked on the rust at all really. I need to start tho. I had to do some overhauling on the aero kit but I need to finish it up. I get side tracked easily . lol.

lol. well that depends. No one on Driftstl seems to give me input on ANYTHING so I dont add as much info on there. Idk if it's because no one knows me yet or something but I can't really count on driftstl to help me out or inform me on what can be changed or improved so its all up to you.

***UPDATE*** So I worked on the car a little bit yesterday. I need to clean up my garage so I can function in my garage but I stuck with the interior. I took my seats out to start it. After that, I began to take my dash out. I need to get to the firewall to get the rest of the sound deadening s*** off and start the interior paint. Here is what it used to look like... And here it is now... I think of it as a good idea to mark wires so I used/label blue painters tape to hold certain wire clusters together so I can remember where they go. This helps when you have never taken your car apart. I also took off my door panels. Very easy to do, only 3 screws I believe on the bottom, one behind the door handle, on in the window switch piece and a push pin by the top edge. My buddy mike hooked me up with a two tone Rush Garage sticker for my two tone car.lol

Yea, just about...I still need to tear out the wiring and heater/ac stuff. It still looks like a rats nest but I will work thru it. But on a lighter note, I found some tires from this site very cheap brand new. 170 for a pair of michelin pilot power ct2 's

I cleaned up most of the garage yesterday instead of hockey practice so I am halfway there. I should be getting some pics up tomorrow of some more progress. ***UPDATE*** I finished cleaning the garage yesterday. My buddy lives with me and his dad just got a 60 gallon Ingressol-Rand(if thats how you spell it) Compressor so he donated his 25 gallon craftsman to us. It is by no means an excellent compressor but for the last 4 or 5 years, I have been using like a 2.5 gallon tire pump compressor that my dad got from home depot for like $100 so this should cut down time alot.lol. I took off the front brakes, rotors, hubs and started working on my 5 lug hubs. I didnt have time to get the air hammer out and get the tie rods ends seperated because the g/f wanted to go out. I did manage to knock out the 5 lug studs for something new...Here is the rears And here is the fronts I also picked these Circuit Sports extended wheel studs when I was making a payment on my brake upgrade. Now, I am going to finish taking the front apart and start taking the rear suspension apart. I need to drop the subframe and replace the bushings and sand it down for powder coating along with the front brace.
