Alright, I got some more work done on the rust spot.

I first removed the drivers seat, rear seat, and plastic interior trim pieces like the sill plate, rear top and bottom peice and kick panel so that I can pull the carpet up.

I then started to knock out some of the sound deadening material that was surrounding the rusted area which brought me to this point. I continued to get rid of the sound deadener because that is my next quest but you dont have to go that far. After that, you will want to mark an area that looks safe from rust. This will give you your border to cut. I didnt include the seat mount at the beginning because I didnt know the bottom of the mount was also rusted out. I used an air saw and an air hammer w/ a shear chissel on it(if thats what its called) to cut away the material. I measured the top of the seat mount from the floor to get a number so when I put the new floor in, I will know how high to weld in my new seat mount

After I got the hole cut, I cut out the seat mount to see if it was salvageable. I think it may be a gamble so I will just make a new one. When in doubt about something like this, I would just go the more sensible way...It may take longer but the final product will probally look better and last longer.

I purchased some 16ga sheet metal. You always want to go with equal size metal or a size thicker...Thanks again FlatBlackIan. This S**T is thick. I already started with one bend in it but due to juggeling work, school and my gf, I havent had too much time to get some work in. I will hopefully be able to finish the floor section this weekend.

I did get my NRG Slim Hub in the mail today so my wheel might go on too this weekend.

So this weekend I didnt get as much as I hoped done as far as the rust repair goes but I did get all of the sound deadening material out. Thats a start...And I bought an angle grinder to sand down to metal to weld and a wire brush to take off the seam sealer so I can stitch weld the car...sry for the crappy pictures, there isnt much light and im using my iphone

I also installed my jdm grill that I bought off the nico classifieds. Let me know if anyone wants the kouki grill, email me at [email protected]

And Last of all, I installed my steering wheel. It actually was very easy to install, the hardest part was looking for the hollow tip torx bits in my garage.lol

I got some more work done on the front bumper. First I got the headlights, corner lights and old bumper off to test fit the Origin bumper. After I put it on and set the lights into place, I noticed that it would need a little work done but what doesn't now-a-days.

The next thing to do was get the bumper support in the right spot. I had to loosen the 4 bolts that holds it on and push the support down to get the bumper to sit a little bit lower. Because of the mounting brackets on the new bumper, it pushed the headlights up and wouldnt allow the hood to shut properly. Once I got that done, I started on the fender mounting points.

I took out the plastic screw mounts from the fender first. After they were removed, I used a pencil to draw the square cutout of the fender. I used my foot to hold the bumper up and one hand to hold it in to my choosen location. With my free hand, I took the pencil and traced the square on to the bumper.(It took more than one try so just do it until you get it where you want it)

After that, I used the mounting clip for a template. I centered it on my traced square and than drilled out the hole.

I found that it was easier to use a uni-bit after the pilot hole was drilled (I started with the smaller drill bit and when i moved a size up, it began to chip the fiberglass so I used a uni-bit and it solved the problem).

Once the holes were drilled out to the size of the screws, I placed the bumper back on the car and began to screw the corners in.

And this is what it looks like. I still need to finish some mounting tabs for the bumper support but it is actually pretty solid with the two screws in alone. And sorry for the bad pics, I was using my phone and its hard to get a pic of the front because Im kinda cramped in my garage

Rawrrrr...

Oh, and lonismos14 let me know if you get that body kit

thanks for the feedback guys. I've got a buddy who has the Trust Gracer kit on his zenki. It looks good but its expensive. I think the rear valances alone are like 400 somethin but i may be mistaken. But it really looks good though.

I will get some more pics up as soon as I can. I tack welded the new floor pan in last night so I am going to finish the rest of the welds up today. I also got the rest of the mounting tabs ready for the front bumper.

I dont have any pics of the bumper supports but I will try to get some tonight since I have all night to work on it after I get off work. I got the floor pan tacked in place a couple days ago and yesterday, I continued on welding it it. It doesnt really look pretty and I dont have any good pics since I was in a hurry but heres what I've got... I learned that it was pretty easy to burn through so I tried to lay down alot of tack welds over running a bead...and since I have a mig from the 1800's it doesn't have too many options

I welded a big washer to the middle of the pan for a ground point. I had a feeling that I was going to need those washers for something.lol I only have 3 sides done so far but it was still strong enough to bounce on with all of my weight so once I get the top finished and then go over the bottom, there shouldn't be any mishaps from this part

Here are some new pics of what went down yesterday. I got the rest of the floor pan welded in on the topside. Its not pretty but it holds. I still need to grind the welds down to clean it up a little bit.

And here is the bottom side. I am going to bend all of the metal up and weld it on to the bottom of the floor pan for extra protection from dirt and water. I tapped the bottom of the rear quarter panel and alot of rust fell out very easily so I figured while im down here, I might as well start on that too.

And this is what happens when i get a 4" grinder with a cutoff wheel on it... And just to show how much rust was taken off...the aftermath
