***UPDATE*** I got a little update of the work I did on good friday and a little on saturday. I finished taking off the front suspension. I got the tension rods off, coilovers, lower controll arms, spindles and brakes. After I took all those parts off, I could see the rust by the brake lines that I will be fixing later on... Before I started on that stuff, I scrubed the hubs with cleaner and a scotch brite to get them ready for paint. I finally got to use my por15 on something and let me tell you, that s*** is top of the line. It is thin but with using maybe 1/5 of a 4oz can, I painted all of the hubs and center cap things. I would def. recommend it to you if you are covering rusted parts or want a very protective paint on something...On wit the pics.

One thing to do is wear gloves. They tell you to do this but a lazy a**, instead of going and buying some, I just went for it and now my hands have paint all over them.lol. While the paint was drying, I got some work done on the front end. I decided to just pull the motor so I began taking things off the front. I pulled off the windshield wipers, the plastic panel under the wipers, the hood, fenders, bumper support, headlights, intake, battery, and I began to pull some connectors apart. I just threw a sketch on to get some measurements real quick of what size tubing I will need to make my own fender braces. And after all that, it now looks like this...

I like the idea of all the mods but it may be a good idea to invest in a good welder. Using a simple wire fed welder is not ideal for braces and chassis mods. It doesnt heat the metal properly to make strong welds.

But keep up the good work your giving me some good ideas

You are right, I would love to upgrade to a new welder but they are f***ing expensive.lol. My dad's friend owns a welding shop and he said he has a 1960-70's tig welder that I may be able to get from him. I talked to him about wanting to learn how to tig and/or maybe just getting a nice mig and he said that he has a century welder like mine and he would put it up against one of his employee's newer lincolns anyday so its not as bad as I thought it was.lol

***UPDATE***

So I paid off my front calipers...EVO 8 Front Brembo Calipers. They will be getting powder coated but I figured I would put some picks up since I haven't in a while.

I still need some Evo Rotors and pads to finish the front brakes. I am trying to figure out what exactly I want to do with the rears. I am thinking of trying to mount 2 s14 calipers on each side(one for braking only, one for e-brake only) but not sure yet.

And here is my Z-Tune model I just got. I will take a pic of it when I'm done...

Give me some feedback guys!!!!

wow man, looking good. too bad your throwing in a new engine when yours just had an air bubble. i just picked up some jdm sti calipers for mine. they are the gold brembo's. also i have z32 rears but i ditched the ebrake assy. im going to custom make a hydro ebrake. i made a thread on it. check it out. keep up the good work!

Yea, my engine was going downhill. When I got the car, the odometer was stuck at 240k and I talked to the owner before the guy I bought it from and he said it was stuck like that when he had it too so it had a good number of miles on it. It was also throwing a knock sensor code and something else. o well tho.lol

Yea, I did an autocad drawing to work out the specs of making my own hydro ebrake. That just seems to be the way to go. It saves money and isnt really rocket science, ya kno.

Yea. I don't really care for the sr becaus everyone has them. I think I may go rb25. Autocad is a program where u can make drawings of objects in different views so that the person building it from scratch has all the info and dimensions to do so

lol. I got your back.

Autocad is pretty expensive unless you download it from something like limewire(if you can) or some colleges/community colleges will offer classes where you get a free year of the new program. The program I have is 2002 but I am using the 2010 version in my class right now.

It is kind of easy to use if you have someone walk you through it for a half hour or so. It takes up alot of space and has alot of information but you can type in exact lengths and dimensions for it to draw up so if I wanted a rectangle, I would push the rectangle button, type in 0,0 for starting coordinates, hit enter, type in say 22',18.5' and hit enter and then it would draw it to that exact size. good for producing instructions and stuff like that

UPDATE

I worked on stripping out the seam sealer for a little while yesterday. I got most of it out in the cab and started on the trunk. Let me tell you, they put alot of that s*** in there.

Here are a couple of the trunk...

And this is just a comparison between my old front brake caliper and the new one(I still need to clean them up and have them powdercoated).

They are literally about 2x's the size.lol. I think they may stop me :chuckle:

UPDATE

I got a little more work done. I removed the antenna and NAVAN wing to get to the body and so on...I think I might try and drill a new hole to mount one of those billet antennas like so. http://www.enjukuracing.com/agency-powe ... -6433.html

I also got the trunk stripped and ready for welding. The only problem is that I found more rust spots in the trunk so I guess I will be working on that too :( You cant really see the rust area but its by the jack tray. I also removed that.

I walked around the car and marked off all the dents too so I can start with the body work. I need to get moving because at this rate, it will be a life long project.lol

Is this a street car or track car or both? Reason I'm asking, is because I want to buy a nrg quick release w/ a new steering wheel but doesn't that mean I would have to get rid of the airbags? which would = illegal for S14's?

mine is going to be both a street and track car but if you do an aftermarket steering wheel, you will need to eliminate the airbags. im not sure if that means it is illegal but if it means you cant pass inspection, you can always hold onto the stock one and put it on when you need to get inspections done. it only takes about 30-45 minutes to swap steering wheels

Try to post some pics of that bumper support. I bet you could figure out something without having to fab up an all new one
btw that gunmetal kouki with ambers is mine .... and no it doesnt have ebay headlight .. if you look hard enough you will see the projector ... they are black housings in oem headlights ... nice try though ... and good luck finding those ambers on ebay :chuckle:

UPDATE

I started welding the trunk up. It was a little annoying how thin the metal is. I had my welder on low and it still burned through it if I tryed to run a bead longer than a 1/4 of an inch. I worked my way around it though. I dont have any pics off the trunk yet but I will get some.

I also worked on shaving the antenna hole. I started by taking the wing off and sanding down the paint around the hole. I cut out a circle from sheet metal and grinded it down to fit the hole.
Image
Image

Then I welded it on. I had to do it twice because after grinding the welds down the first time, there were some holes so I went after them and ended up burning through a little(thats why the welds are so bulky) but oh well.
Image

And this is what it now looks like after grinding it down again. It's not to bad but it will get some filler on top anyways because the panel under the wing was a little bent.

ya they do not make them at all. I asked him a long time ago in the kouki check in and I think he said he used stain glass paint. I might be wrong though. By the way I think everyone of us on Nico has a picture of his car saved lol.

Well guys, its been a while, a while since alot has happened to me and alot has been going on with my car. First off, im a Ohio local that attends Kent state university in Kent ohio, near akron. Anyhow, im 23 years old, I've been working on (modifying) S chassis cars since i was 17, i really love the cars, we always spent our time on windy backroads testing the true limits of these cars, and over the years i have had a few cars, my most recent would be my 1995 240sx. anyways, i jsut wanted to share my story and show you all some pics of whats going on in little ol' Ohio. Like i said, for driving/drifting events, im usually at Beaver Run, as well as Killkare in dayton, but we are starting our own point league in akron, which im very excited for since im heading the whole operation and its finally getting off the ground since 11 months ago...

... but liek i said, its been a long strange road, and its been a really fun time building the car, since i started off with a base model 4 lug automatic version, and jsut went to town rippign into it and changing everyhting so that it would best suit my needs.

Looks real good man, i just recently crashed my 1996 240sx into the back of a u-haul truck...the damage is not that bad and i'm planning to rebuild it. I was wondering how much did you pay for the kouki conversion with all costs, because i'm gonna do the same thing just need some estimates
