I was wondering how much did you pay for the kouki conversion with all costs, because i'm gonna do the same thing just need some estimates
never admit to wrecking one of these cars. everyone uses it against you later on lol. there are some D bags sometimes.

the conversion is pretty pricy. if all used you can find everything for 1500-2500 or so. also depends if its all usdm or jdm, then you need to have it paint matched.

Yes, the conversion is a little expensive but worth it in my opinion. I found a local guy who totaled his car so I got it for an ok price. I paid 900 for the hood, fenders, bumper, bumper support, headlights and cornerlights(all usdm). The fender was jacked up and one of the headlights were cracked so I spent another 300 on a fender from Nissan(with a discount) and then 180 on a new headlight so all in all about $1400. I still need to paint it but I will be painting the whole car and paint for everything will be around 400.

ya that is extremely cheap. sometimes you can buy an s15 front for the price of a kouki front. kouki FTW

So I wont say this is a full update until I get some pics but I have been stitch welding the trunk up. I also did some more work on the side skirts trying to get them to fit.

I did remove the wire harness from the trunk and took off all of the plugs I could see from the dash harness and main harness. I am going to try and get out the a/c and heater out of the interior so I can get to the firewall to inspect/fix/paint what is needed.

After I get that stuff done, I will move to the inside to finish stitch welding and then I am going to take off and replace the underbody coating. I still have quite a bit of work but I dont want to rush anything so I am not gonna put a deadline on this build. sorry for it takin so long but thanks for the comments NICO

:wtf2: Nice, real nice. You could have prevented a potential disaster to another human being (or more), but instead choose to smirk about it here. You might think you're being light-hearted here, but think again. So did you stop to help the accident victims and offer a witness statement? P.S. I hate disrespectful drivers, no matter whose to blame. Oh, and I have a Saturn Sky Redline too.

I should've added the quotations, my apologies ... I was replying to BioBerg's post in response to his immature boasting of a dangerous situation. And c'mon, really? I don't like Geo Metro's to begin with! :lolling:

***UPDATE***

So I worked on my car a little bit yesterday until I had to run to the home depot(which ended up taking a long time). I got as many of the connections apart on the inside harness, under the dash, off and took off some nuts and bolts out of the a/c and heater. I am at a little contradiction now. I was going to take the a/c and heater stuff off so I could get the wire harness off but I managed to snake it through. I dont know if I want to anymore but I feel like I should because I want to repaint the WHOLE car and that would include the firewall.

If I take that stuff off, I think it will be alot easier to move around but I dont know if it will go back together like it was.lol. I dont know yet, I will figure it out.

sorry for the bad pic...it was gettin dark
Image

I pulled the engine bay fuse box apart to clean it and get everything broken down. I cleaned it all off but forgot to take pics of it afterwards so I will get those tonight. It had a good amount of dirt and dust in there along with fried bugs and stuff.lol I am thinking about relocating it to the inside, maybe under the dash or something.

I also took off the cover plate that goes down to the winshield wiper tubes and let my gf sand it down. there was some surface rust building around the edges so I am going to paint my POR-15 on it so it will look fresh and I wont have to worry about rust on that part in my lifetime. I will get some pics of that tonight too.

Yea, that would be annoying. My toyota makes some crazy noise sometimes when I hit the blinker. It sounds like a gremlin inside my dashboard.lol

***UPDATE***

So I worked on the car yesterday night and got some more work done. It's getting more and more disassembled each time. First, I cleaned up all of the seam sealler that was sprayed all over and picked up the tools so I could actually function.lol. After that, I pulled the blower motor??? maybe...if thats what its called.lol.
Image

Once I got that out of the way, it was a little easier to move around and mess with the wires. I pulled the wires from the relays and whatever to get the engine harness free from everything on the interior side.
Image

Once that was all free, I finished up taking off the cruise control and windshield wiper motor stuff and finally got the engine harness removed.
Image

Now that I have that out of the way. I unplugged the two plugs going to the door on each side. I had already taken just about every other plug off so that was all that was left. I pulled those and then I got the entire dash harness over to the drivers side.

I had to remove two plugs in the back of the fuse panel and one large square plug and was then able to pull the fender harness through. And this is what I was left with.
Image

This is all of the interior wires besides the rear section harness from the plug by the rear strut tower to the fuel pump(including tail lights, fuel pump, speakers, etc...).
Image

I also got some pictures of the under hood fuse panel that I cleaned up. I don't know if I will use it yet but I figured I might as well clean it now otherwise I will forget about it in the pile of s*** I have stacked in the corner.lol
Image
Image

Now, I need to pull the motor so I can get the heater core and a/c lines removed to pull those from the interior.

And nothing like a good'ol slushie from bubble tea to quench my thirst...can anyone say "I love Boba???" lol
Image

I also found this panel while I was cleaning out a container at work. It was supposed to go under my desk to hold the wires back but we decided not to use them so I have 4 of them...well 1 of them and 3 in the trash.
Image

I also just pre-ordered this for the 360...
Image

I also bought this from http://www.Iloveracing.com last week and now all I can do is wait...

That took a little bit. This is the first 240 I have owned so I took my time and took pictures of everything but I would estimate if I worked on it continuous, I would say about 3-5 hours. Taking the dash and center consoles only took about 45 minutes to an hour but the wires were the part that were annoying me.

I was also taking things out and then moving to other s*** because I have a.d.d. or something so I wouldn't be able to concentrate on one thing at a time.lol

Your build looks awsome and extensive.
Noob question maybe, but what is the point of all the stitch welding? And you removed all of the dash wiring to paint the interior firewall? Is this your personal preference. or is all this stuff needed for a swap?

Stitch welding helps the rigidity or the car...because they come with the few spot welds from the factory, under intense driving the body can flex. Stitch welding reinforces the pieces of sheet metal together creating a more solid vehicle. It is not needed but again helps and I figured I would do it because I was taking everything out.

There is no need to go the extent of removing the dash and other interior pieces for a swap alone. The reason I have done this is because I found some rust and I plan on keeping my car for a long time so I would like to get all the rust I can find out. I would prefer to see and fix everything before I start a time and money consuming project because I would hate for all of my work to be for nothing if something were to happen that I could have prevented.

I am also planning on relocating my fuse box and switching to military grade bulk connectors in the fire wal to reduce the wires and clean things up. In my opinion, the bulk connector style engine harness just looks sick and is completely useful if you will be working on the engine(pulling the engine) and to diagnose problems.

Thanks for the props and if you have anymore questions, feel free to ask. I am nowhere close to a genius about cars but I believe there are no stupid questions. We all have to start somewhere

Oh i understand the stitch welding now. Thanks man! Im currently redoing my zenki, (alone :ohno: ) I just dont know anybody in my area thats into cars like I am. Prob cuz im uber anti social lol
I have lots of questions, but i find most of my answers through other ppls threads, and the search options but couldnt find a write up about stitch welding the seams  . Im EXTREMELY lucky that my florida car has NO RUST! :mike
Body work is scarey for me, i have never had to mess with it, and never even seen a welder in person LMAO. So threads like yours are my mainstays. I read as much as I can to be prepared.

Yea, I hear ya. I have always been messing with things and trying to make things so I have some knowledge of welding and tools and so on but searching is your best bet. You can usually find what your looking for on here or google...and watch out on here and other forums like zilvia, you start a new thread for something thats been discussed once you will get cruicifide.lol

I got some more work done yesterday. Finished the passenger side stuff including all of the same seams I did on the driver side...seat rail panel, rockers, around the quarter and going up the wheel well to the rear deck.

I am planning on buying a sand blaster today with my 20% off coupon from harbor freight and an electric welding mask...they have one for 40 right now. I might print off another coupon and see if I can buy that with the 20% off too.lol

I wouldn't really mind having a boss ka but if I went that route, I would want AMS to build it. I am either going to swap to an rb or LSx swap. I want a really bad a** reliable car but want to maintain comfort such as fully sound deadened, foam filled fram rails and a/c so we will see what I end up with. I would love to go rb but you can get an entire totalled corvette or camaro for the price of an rb26. I don't plan to have this as a weekend car. I would like to get it to be as reliable as possible to daily it and then build another mean as car for a track car but who knows how well that will work out.lol
