have been to the dg trials practice day at nashville speedway and the DMGGMASD event at nashville. that place has done many things to my car.....none of which were good. bent tie rod, blew out both front wheel bearings, broken lip (on the car not me), flat spotted 4 different brand new front tires (damn top of 3rd gear entry into a super tight hairpin), and i still have dirt inside the car from both events there.....it still wont come completely clean. other than that i love that track because it forced me to learn to look at the next corner before finishing the one i was in the middle of and that while dropping tire looks really cool it is really difficult to pull out of and maintain your line properly........plus it does damage. dropping front tires bends rims. cannot wait to go back there again.

ya i kinda miss the old look. plain and simple, but all that rust had to go. once i picked up the 18s and installed them the plain jane thing just didnt work. the 18s were calling for more from the car.....and thus:

(iphone pic)

(good pics from a friend)

removed rear crash bar (thank god it weighed almost 30lbs) and fab up a keep the bumper from sagging bar. guessing the rear bumper i picked out was to be mounted on overfenders since it winged out about 2-3inches on each side at the wheel wells. temporary metal screws FTW&L! hey it works and they will be replaced with rivets more than likely. the bubble flares didnt fit quite as i had hoped but they work for now, or until i smash them and go with either a different brand or just suck it up and buy origin overs.

no problems as of yet, other than me not tightening them down properly and losing a bolt at an event.......car was jumping over 2 lanes to the right everytime i touched the brake on the way home. luckily found a replacement bolt and viola hasnt let me down since.

wow, amazing looking. this reminds me a lot of how my build went (starting build my s13 then switched to a better shell) only;1. your car is done and running and looking amazing2. mines a hatch3. you used way better parts

well its not that i'm using bad parts, but i don't have money for wheels and all the suspension parts.....yet.

ps- i don't think just because your dif has never overheated means its not vlsd. crack that sucker open and have a look

there where other factors that have made many fellow drivers come to the same conclusion, the overheating one is the only thing i remember, but yes i want to crack it open one day and see exactly whats in there. when i do i will definitely take pics and post it up.

rear/trunk harness. dash/door/interior harness. engine bay harness. the only things not accounted for are the radiator fan, oil cooler fan, HIDs, silvia foglights, and probably another wire or two here and there.

all unnecessary wires were removed, fuse boxes have been pulled and simplified, all so that there is very minimal wiring in the actual engine bay and none in the fenders (this way i dont cause another wiring headache with my 18s chewing away at the main harness).

i did not do any of the wire simplifying or re-wiring. my friend who is certified master tech at his job took care of that headache. i just cleaned up the leftovers, held wires while he wrapped them, and put labels on them for later.

headlights/fans/etc. wiring will run in above fender well but under actual fenders. of course the engine harness will still be in the actual engine. kinda hard to have a running engine without the harness there, but it will pass thru the firewall so i dont tear it up again.

so basically you're rippin my style? lol jk, i guess i consider the area above the fender wells to still be under the fenders. we'll have to see who's wiring comes out better

i just dont want to chew thru another harness and end up with electrical gremlins shorting everything. if it looks unseen and pretty i will be even more happy. wont know for sure till i get the car back from being fully caged.

I dont think me or WC (both of whom are working on wire tucks) thought you didnt have wires in your engine bay, I thought maybe you ran your fenderwell harness through your engine bay, you just relocated it up higher into the fender...

ya. running fenderwell harness up higher to avoid the tires and riveting sheetmetal in place for extra protection at the firewall.

cant wait to get the car back all fully caged. then the build can really begin.
