think my photof***et is locked. oops. atleast the still frame says it all.
compression came back good. 160 across the board. so it is the turbo saying its dying. looking into options now. need to get it up and running within two weeks so i can make it to the EliteSummerNationals comp in spartanburg on august 8th. plus i got some BC 264 cams ready to go in. already installed BC springs and retainers earlier this year. was hoping to pick up some bigger injectors, but now with the turbo needing replacement, my 550cc sards will have to do for a bit.
well. the turbo was blown....but so were a few of the ringlands. luckily the crank and rods were still good. still pretty good for lasting me 3yrs of heavy abuse without a single problem till now. so we took the motor out and tore it down. cleaned it up and pulled out the broken parts and started looking into new parts for the rebuild. also sent the heads to get machined, resealed, and a 3angle valve job.
picked up JE stock bore pistons, Clevite bearings, s15 multilayer exhaust mani gasket, Tomei Expreme mani (the megan one was leaking horribly), PoweredByMAX Cobra flex downpipe (the megan elbow was cracked at the flange...and the megan downpipe was getting scarred up from hanging so low....plus the PBM dp is one piece, has vertical flex pipe, and is made extremely well), Stance water pulley, Stance water neck adapter, and the PoweredByMAX hyrdo ebrake kit (been wanting one for some time).
also finally replaced my PowerFC with a newer model. old one would erase itself every so often and the commander went out on me a few months back.
after putting the motor back together and bolting it back into its home i took the sil40 around the block for a an hour or two running the revs from 1k to 6k then shift and do it again all the way to fourth. then come to a near stop and do it all over again. kind of annoying but its good for the motor. then took it for its base tune. 299whp and 250tq at 10psi. pretty good numbers considering that i was getting 320-330whp and 270tq on the 2871r at 17psi. so after i break the motor in a bit more and turn the boost up to 18psi i am hoping for something in the 350-360whp range.
also bought the full PBM rear suspension arm package to replace the random ones i have now. cant wait to get those on...hopefully this week so i can test em out a private day on Oct31st.
