So finally I decided to get the Q45 Brakes. So I went to some junkyards and found a pair of calipers for $35 Now all i have to do is buy the Rotors and Brake pads.

Here are some pics:

They will need some cleaning and paint.

Nice. I had to redrill my rotors for my 4 lug S13. It will be a lot easier for you. Get some stainless lines and Motul RBF and have fun. I loved this upgrade. I got lucky and scored a rebuilt set off of eBay for $95 shipped with pads.

It is a direct replacement for the s-chassis calipers.... the advantage would be the dual piston design and allows for a larger rotor..

Yes it clears most wheels, even stock SE. My q45 brakes are from a 95. So I believe its anywhere from 94-96 q45 brakes calipers, rotors, and pads.

Im also rocking the Q45 brakes.

IMO way better bang for the buck upgrade than the Z32, the Z brakes are overkill, and they severely limit wheel options. I havn't had the chance to truly flog the new setup, but Id bet Ill really have to try to make these things fade.

Instead of redrilling q45 rotors you can always just buy 03 sentra SER rotors. The lug pattern is the same for s13/14 4 lug. I think it was like 50 bucks for both rotors at autozone.

Hahahaha, as did I.

I wonder if they will catch the fact that they are attempting to re-man the wrong calipers

i too have the q45 upgrade and man the braking power is phenomenal! Brake fade even on semi decent pads is decreased dramatically cause of the bigger rotor and crossdrills. highly recommended!

I had q45`s on my s13, but found these at my local salvage yard for 20 dollars, so I just had to go to the dark side for my s14!

Q45 brake upgade is nice but make sure you upgrade your pads in the back or you will lock up very easy.

Brakes systems are made to have a certain balance. throwing off that balance will upset the car when driving hard.

The J30 rotors arent quite as thick, this means they can hold less thermal energy, making them not as efficient. Its a minuscule difference though.

IIRC they do. Unlike the Z brakes, with Q45 or J30, the calipers are like the stockers, with most of the caliper sitting inward towards the knuckle.

That is the point of using J30 (which i have) or Q45 front brakes. Unlike the Z32 upgrade, the stock BMC retains the stock braking bias on Q45/J30 calipers. The thing is though, your tires are the most important aspect of your braking performance (and handling, etc.) If you're running crappy or skinny tires, the extra stopping power up front will cause you to lock up easier. The only real downside to the J30/Q45 brakes are the extra unsprung weight, but $ for $ they are the best upgrade for a street 240 or a mildly tracked 240 IMO.
