Just cut it off. Its not hard, when you go to install the rotors, you will understand. I cut mine off with a pair of tin snips.mig240sx wrote:
What modification do you need? How is it done? Thanks.

yup, and have you seen how big the nut is? plus the fact that it's tightened down to 150 ft lbs x age of vehicle i would never get the dam nut off.spooled240 wrote:yeah you have to remove the wheel bearings IIRC
Because this upgrade keeps the brake bias close enough that there is no need to change the rear, you stop 60 front 40 rear anyway. if you do change the rear you most likely will be changing the master cylinder as well.odmoht wrote:kool thread...i got a noob question tho =xwhy only the front calipers, why not front and rear??
i don't know if the 97-01 will bolt up on a 240. they use a similar caliper as the G35 & 350z, the rotor width is larger on the G & Z but the diameter will be the same for the Q. the mount points and off set of the caliper it self will be the same on the Q, G & Z.TerminalVelocity wrote:hmm I was looking on my notepad that I write down car modification information that I come across on the web, and I have written down that the 97-01 q45 rotors are 11.6 in whereas the 90-96 were 10.9 in. Anyone know if these later size rotors and calipers can be used on our cars the same as the 90-96 ones?
also some people do not want to change over the the drum ebrake assembly. i think people say it is much harder than it really is. you can do it all with in a days workodmoht wrote:kool thread...i got a noob question tho =xwhy only the front calipers, why not front and rear??
your question was already answered, but i jsut got a z31 bmc and next time the rears need pads or anything, im just going to do q rears as well, who knows i might be going 5 lugodmoht wrote:kool thread...i got a noob question tho =xwhy only the front calipers, why not front and rear??
I'll do some more research and see what I can find. I think that the added .7 in of diameter would be beneficial for dissipating heat.got_chub wrote:i don't know if the 97-01 will bolt up on a 240. they use a similar caliper as the G35 & 350z, the rotor width is larger on the G & Z but the diameter will be the same for the Q. the mount points and off set of the caliper it self will be the same on the Q, G & Z.
i say if you can find a cheap set of calipers and rotors with used pads i say try it and see if it all lines up. i thought about trying the 03+ 350z non-brembo calipers but i didnt want to get all the stuff and it not work
Re-drilling does not pose a risk to the integrity of the rotor. Unless you suck at drilling, slip off/out of the hole, and put a nasty gash in the rotor face.got_chub wrote:re-drilling is very easy. you can do it at home if you want and if you dont feel comfortable doing so you can take them to a machine shop. it shouldnt take them more than 20 mins and no more than 35 bucks.
not really. i got my whole q45 set up for less than 300q45 calipers new seals and boots-120i got ebay rotors 100 and new pads were 60.sr kid 88 wrote:is this a good reasonable q45 upgrade?
