Did you put the calipers on the correct sides? The bleeder screws must face up or you will trap air in the system.

I would suggest gravity bleeding, open all the bleed screws at once and allow it to drip for a while, make sure the master is kept full.

yeah 100% sure i did.. the bleeder screw is facing up and it has the R and the L on the right sides. i bleed them for a while just opened them till fluid came out bleed them for a while... i dont know if its going to feel different because of the caliper being bigger

My pedal got stiffer when I did the Q brakes.

If you cant get a stiff pedal, its likely you allowed air to enter the master cylinder.

Did the reservoir run dry at any time during the swap? If it did, you have air trapped in the master cylinder, and you will need to bench bleed it.

I ended up gravity bleeding the brakes for about 45 minutes and then proceeded with the normal process of bleeding the brakes. It finally worked.

I have done a lot of reading on q45 brakes going on an s13, and I think I have the answer to this question, but I want to confirm- if I were to go to autozone and buy reman. calipers from a q45, that is all I need to install them onto my s13 right? (aside from the obvious pads and rotors). I dont need a different bracket for the caliper or anything to accommodate the larger rotors do I? Thanks guys...

So i bought a pair of manufactured Q45 calipers, but I dont have the caliper brackets. Do you guys know of a place where I can get just the caliper brackets? Obviously at the infiniti dealer most likely, but I wondered if anyone else ran into this and where they may have gotten them. Thanks for the advice.

dealer will have them iirc but they're more expensive then what you can get the calipers for. just grab them from a junkyard

thought i would chime in for a sec......

couple of things we can let you know about changing over to a full set of q45 brakes. The fronts bolt right on, as do the rears...now for the rears, you lose the factory parking brake assembly unless you change over to the q45 rear hubs for the parking brake that is part of the hub. Now in doing that the shock location is 2 different kinds...so you would either have to get a q45 rear shock or make your own rear shock mount work. In changing over to the rears...you will need to upgrade the master cylinder, as the factory s14 mc does NOT have enough umph to move the brakes.

you can try to bleed until your eyes are red...trust me it will NOT work. Switch to a Z32 mc and you'll be good.

Bench bleeding is when you run a small hose from each output of the master cylinder to loop them back into the fluid resevoir. you put some fluid into the master, then pump the main cylinder by hand until there are no more bubbles coming out of the hoses.

this should also help.http://autorepair.about.com/od...d.htm
