ZOMG page four large picture update!

I just completed a lot of minor tasks today. The one that gave me the most trouble was the exhaust. had to drill out 2 holes for the rear tow hook mounting location, and drill out the front subframe bolt hole because the hanger bolt broke off in there. Drilling upside down isn't fun, but hanging your exhaust correctly is worth it!

I always loved the look of this megan catback setup, not to mention the sound of only a turbine and resonators .Need downpipe still, waiting for elbow to get fixed i swear tomorrow i'll stay home from york after my final and get it to the shop!

My ghetto radiator setup as usual: Mishimoto is on the summer wishlist.

Mr. Keegs suggested this baller gold plated battery terminal, and for 3.50 more than a normal one, I love it! I feel like getting another one and running without the top on the battery tray now!Installed, sex. I need a friggin cam!

CXracing IC mounts: just for you DB.

While I was under there I threw these old friends on: They are extremely strong and everything survived the crash without a hitch, I am impressed. Instead of these breaking, you should see the elongated holes in the old LCA's! I still have one of them.

My last order of business was to thread in the wastegate actuator bung. I drilled out a hole just smaller than the size of the threads and threaded it in without a tap because aluminum is soft enough to do so. The threads on this thing are too awkward and fine to find a tap. I sealed it with liquid welder, one of my fav. metal epoxies. When the pipe is installed, the bung points toward the ground, stealthily hiding it and making it easier for me to hide the manual boost controller.

I don't have a pic yet but thank you WC/jeff for the slave cylinder text msg. I already have a 1988 z31 non turbo slave cylinder in the sentra ready to truck to york that I will use on the 240sx. So far this holds true to what jeff tells me as the z31 slave cylinders are more robust and bolt right in to your ka or SR stock slave location!

That's it for today. Still waiting on my transmission seal.

I wish mine had come with those mounts, and thats interesting with your battery posts-does the wire run directly into the post? Or did you use a connector?

thanks for the props and yeah from what i've heard the z31 slave is stronger but i havent tried it for myself yet since the car still is sitting. it mounts and bolts up perfectly, and i figured hell it can't be any worse then the s13 slaves. and its actually a little cheaper .

thats exactly how i did my waste gate nipple last time but im doing it different this time.

Battery posts are easy, just strip 1/2" insulation off and bolt down the wire to the post.

lol on the npt fitting... I'm really happy how it came out so well considering i didnt have a tap. I had to use a wrench to get it in so I'm vry happeh.

Oh and did you guys notice I pretty much edit every post of mine. Especially in the build thread. Just a fun fact . Usually it's because I screwed up copying a new photo url or I have something to add to make my descriptions more clear.

A tap would've been near useless on that thin of aluminum anyway, you would've wasted 5$ for a tap at your local hardware store, and then got it taped with a whole single thread into that alluminum LOL. JB weld is your best freind.

I dont think you should just connect the wire directly to the post, I used a small copper connector.

^ WTF?

I've always done it exactly how he said, strip the wire, twist them or put a little solder on them if they want to fray, then slide it into the female end on the connector (the female for the wire dummie, not the female for the post) and tighten the bolts down.

Nah DB, they're made to do that. Ugh it's hard to show you but I'm sure you can see in the pics. I have plenty of connectors, but you get a better connection going straight to the wire itself.

Wow man small world LOL. I'm sure it's more mint than the one off my wrecked old 240, but at least i have a lip that is in tact, no worries!

Lol I'm actually going to use that filter on the sentra. I gave the sentra my old Injen filter but now it needs to be called back to active SR duty.

Did you ever own this car at one time? I hope not or i'ma ream you out for those 1998 racing seatbelts lol!

Hey tom, the car looks like its off to a good start... Def gotta check it out sometime.

Not much going on here, I sold the BMW I bought after I sold my s13. I'm actually looking around right now for something. I should be going to check out a nice s14 soon, so if all checks out, I'll buy that this weekend. I need something reliable for now... maybe just some suspension mods, but nothing to serious especially in the engine department.

Its crazy how many lancaster and surrounding area people in PA are on here now building their cars... it would have been nice when I had my s13. I met you and doug at the wrong time, when I was selling it, haha.

Yeah man, at least you're lookin to get back into the game, but beware, it's addicting.

Today I dropped off the piping to have the flange welded. I have complete confidence in these amish dudes to do the job right after I saw how jeffs turned out. Amish buggy job shops FTW, you should have seen the tooling they have I am jealous!

Picked up my transmission seal Thanks mang.I was bored and being done with finals (because my next one doesn't affect my grade) I cleaned up the dif and filter today.

I once said "it's all about the candy paint" immitating bun B, but it truly is all about the details: I used aircraft remover to remove the airplanes and paint from the old diff bolts.

Sry it was dark, but i shot the diff cover with a new coat of 1500* silver lol.

Blue hardware ftw. They should stay nicer this time because notice the RTV sealant. No more fail gaskets, so the oil won't ruin the look like last time. Didn't torque it down fully yet, waiting for it to form a more firm layer for a makeshift gasket seal.

I have a bunch of stuff in the sentra ready for install tomorrow, should be a fun day!

Aite. Well as long as I get my clutch line in from SPL before thursday or friday I might be able to finish it by then. Looking for this week to be running and back home with it. Keegan is coming tomorrow to help with fuse block wiring. drive train goes back in tomorow and bleed brakes too plus some other minor things.

Ya man, just not a clean white as of now because i didn't want to mess it up, plus it'll give me a chance to install RAS at the same time.Jeff's right, very slight pearl white with a superfresh speckled/metallic clear whatever you call that glittery looking stuff hahaaa!

nice progress, and yeah thsi is so close to done. i will admit i was wrong when i assumed they'd be done with the flange already, but i neglected the fact that they're outsourcing it lol. i want to see this on the road and hope mine will be done shortly after.

I like this build. Even though I'm not a fanboi of the SR. I honestly hate the SR band wagon that EVERYBODY seems to be jumping on. Thus I'm just gonna stay on my KA bandwagon. Although I really like that valve cover. It's really smooth and clean looking. If you lived here in Florida, I would ask to come over just to touch it.

KEEP THEM BUILD PICS COMIN'

Reason #1, if you like the look of EGR systems lol, #2, if you desire a lower redline. I'm not gonna go into it :P sorry for what I said already!

Thanks for the valve cover props man, but like I said it'll be getting a paint re-vamp soon. It got pretty scratched up during this build taking it everywhere with the crane.

Lol nice pics josh, thank u very much for some real pics! I also have ones from tonight, but of lesser qualityyyy. Yes bob marley, and my bad for being a bit edgy when working underneath the car lol.

Let's start with the fender wiring: Wiper amp module moved to inside fender, still using original bolt hole:

Passenger side wiring:

Last tuesdays update which i never got because my internet was down: Just the parts i had to install. I ended up getting the wrong trans seal again, this time because the lady who ordered it selected automatic transmission even though she knew well that I haz teh 5spds.

Did someone say 5spd? This is how the z31 fits up, tight fit!

Painted (crosses fingers for no fluid leaks, if it does no matter)

And this is where i started today, SPL clutch line came in and I had to start off the day with a yuengling. I rarely drink while working on my car but I had to work on my sisters car earlier so I felt I needed to chill and relax. My beer of choice except when smithwicks is available hehe.

I <3 my customized power steering return line. Used the OEM single cam line and cut it to fit:

The HLSD made its way to york in the trunk and with josh's help we swapped it in. It was actually really easy with 2ppl and a jack ,

It rained hardcore during the lsd install, btw josh worked on the fenders and bumper, installed the front end while i installed the rear end heh... rain:

Drivetrain: FIN

So close I can smell it! But I need atf for the power steering.

For the driveshaft-diff connection did you use studs? If so...what size? Because I have a VLSD in my hosue with studs in it, but an open diff in the car with no studs lol and I dont really want to lug the VLSD to Ace and ask for the those size studs.

Lol kiet, yeah I generally have some clothes lying on the floor in my room daily. That sock looks nasty lol!

Sure thing keegan. I'll be prepping my subframe from the old chassis because it has slightly less rust and because it's already off the car so I can work on it and prep it, drop it in with no downtime! I'd just like to get these coils setup so i could install them whenever I'm ready.

Today before work I prepped yet again for more lowerness. I don't know how low I plan to go, but apparently it's like the boost bug, once you have a taste, you want more so I prepped for ultra low.

First step in ensuring your tires don't get sliced is use a medium sized vice grip or pliers and bend this frame tab backward:

Then take a hammer and smash it into place even more. Just try to get the tab higher than the tire would be when bottoming out, or if that's not possible then just make sure it's less sharp so it won't cut your tire as easily.I finished it off with some rust tough paint afterwards. Obviously I needed it because I had a few rust spots around those holes.

I then finished putting the front bumper on. Just bolting it up where the fenders meet the bumper sides and putting the splash guards on. I haven't cut the splash guards yet or rolled/pulled them either.

I was picking around with zipties underneath to secure the splash guards in the front and came upon a potential problem area. The IC piping can possibly rub against the metal frame at this point and over time will probably leak boost. Fuel line cut down the axis is the fix! I did this on both sides just to be sure.

Argggg I can't wait to be done! The subframe will take me a bit though... As long as I take my time with that and do it right I'll feel better inside, so speed isn't as much as a factor with installing the subframe, risers and pbm coils, but I'll still have it done by june 7th.
