Hats off for a quality paint job! I hope to do something similar in a year or so. If I'm still driven to work on the car.

Im bored...doing a little update of where things are at.

So, for all those who care...which apparently, appears to be not a whole lot lol...progress is being made, slowly but surely.

I got around to getting new wheels, I ended up not getting the p45r's which I was going for and instead, got black xxr 006 wheels (17x9 with +20 offset all the around)... who would have ever guessed, right?

Well, they were cheap, plus, I just wanted something that would look better than the wheels that are on my car now...although I could really care less though, wheels aren't exactly a high priority for me...I just wanted to get this out of the way (might receive them a week from today btw). I'll probably run 245/40 tires up front and 265/40 in the rear....but 275 does sound kind of tempting though.

Also, after over a year of procrastinating, I got around to ordering a new shift boot. I will also finally be ordering a new shift knob by the end of the week too...the t-handle was annoying to drive with during the summer, it got insanely hot when sitting out in the sun all day long.

Just gonna add that I'm gonna shoot for doing that 300zx brake upgrade by sometime in mid to late February. Although it might be kind of too early to tell.

As for the motor swap which will happen next winter...in all honesty, I've pretty much gotten it down to two choices. Although I haven't decided yet, I'm more than likely either going to swap in an RB25 or an LT1 ( ).

Will update when parts arrive...and when I find my camera.

Why the LT-1?? Maybe an LS-1 would be nice, but def not an lt

Costs. Im just trying to be realistic here lol.

Not only that, but, the guys I work with are chevy (and ford) gurus...they pretty much know everything about this motor and older 350's, etc. inside and out. It's nice to have someone around who knows a thing or two if I need help and stuff.

The LT1 does have impressive low-end torque (which is always nice ).

For example (found this in some thread on ls1.com):

Qouted from Edmunds.com

1998 Camaro z28 (LS1)Horsepower: 305 hp Max Horsepower: 5200 rpm Torque: 335 ft-lbs. Max Torque: 4000 rpm

1997 Camaro z28 (LT1)Horsepower: 285 hp Max Horsepower: 5200 rpm Torque: 325 ft-lbs. Max Torque: 2400 rpm

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also do understand that the LS1 is superior in just about every way (better flowing heads, newer technololgy, etc...whatever you can think of) and mod for mod, the LS1 will prevail. Other than that, a stock LT1 with a cam upgrade and headers will make more than enough power for a novice driver like me.

But like I was saying earlier, it all comes down to money. I can find an LT1 for dirt cheap...as for the LS1, surprisingly, I haven't been so lucky yet . Also, I saw in a build thread here that someone said expect to pay around $7,000 + (or something like that) for an LS1 swap. If thats true...then that might be a problem.

But I will say this, I'm still keeping my options open. If I somehow manage to find a good deal on an LS1 that's in decent shape...then I'll be all over it.

(Also, I've noticed the LS series swap is practically becoming the new 240 fad....which I find kind of annoying)

Just a small update...not much else really.

So, I finally got the wheels.

Not gonna lie, im pretty excited that I got these.

Oh, and my new shift boot which I got from FRsport about a week ago.

Also, I don't think I mentioned this before but I did put an exhaust and test pipe (<----I think that's what they're called?) on this car back in the beginning of fall,...bought it from a buddy of mine. Sure, it is an "ebay exhaust", but it actually sounds not bad at all...i mean it's not terribly loud when normal driving and pretty quiet when idling.

I'll be more than likely ordering the tires by the end of this week. I do wanna run 265's in the rear and 245's up front...but as for the aspect ratio, I don't exactly have a full understanding of this yet. I have a slight feeling that I might wanna go 35 for both the front and rear...(will I be able to get away with 40?)

Another thing too, the shift knob that I ordered finally shipped out today...I hope that I will get that by the end of the week.

One more thing that I will add, the car will get its windows re-tinted in the very near future...but I won't go more into that until I cross that bridge.

I got my shift knob today...definitely wasn't expecting it to arrive this soon!

I like how it was packaged in this fancy little box...with foam padding!!

Yay! No more t-handle and 5th degree burns (<---exaggerating)!

Installed, as well as the new shift boot...which did fit perfectly.

(Ugh, still need to take care of the interior)

Also, I'll take back what I said on the tire sizes I wanted to run....after doing more research and getting some advice, I know now for sure what Im going to get.

So... about an hour ago I finally went ahead and ordered the tires. I got 4 Falken 452 235/40/17 tires all the way around.

So after doing some research and asking around (thanks simmode1 !), I found out running a staggered set of tires on a wheel with the same width all the way around=bad (at least from what I read)... I'll just stick to these for now until I learn more about this whole wheel/tire fitment thing.

I also went ahead and ordered some Muteki Lug Nuts as well.

....

Damn, I love spending money my car...

Other than that, like always, pics will be up when they arrive.

Pics!

The lugnuts that I ordered...I hope these work out ok.

And the tires...

That's it for now

On a side note, I think my parents want their garage back LOL

I don't even think this is even worth making on update on, but...whatever.

I went ahead and ordered one of those circuit sports magnetic oil drain plug. I figured why not, it couldn't hurt.

So...yeah, that's about it.

Once I get the new wheels on, then I'll post a bunch of new pics of the car...hopefully soon. By next monday, I should have a pretty good idea of when all of that should happen.

I think I just realized that I have only posted one...maybe two, pics of the car after it got painted and re-assembled.................lame.

Well, I really didn't want to wait any longer...so I went ahead and got the wheels on.

I like....

Yeah, I definitely need to adjust the camber and lower it...so it won't be too hard to figure out what I'll be getting next.

Oh, random quote of the day (while I sat at Tire rama waiting for my car to be finished):

(Really old guy that smelled bad): "Boy, that's a s***ty color for a car!"(Tire rama guy): "What? The green one?(Really old guy that smelled bad): "No, the one you just brought in." (drove a really dirty dark purple Buick Regal btw)(Tire rama guy): *silence*

The one being just brought in was my car.

I just sat there continued reading the magazine, not turning around, thinking to myself... *grumblef***inoldtimerboyiwillgiveyouanoldfashionschoolyardbeatdownyoudirtylittlesonofa...grumblegrumblegrumble*

...

Well, once the roads actually dry up and the weather gets better, I'll go out and take some more pics...

Oh yeah, i know lol... after the window tint gets taken care of, lowering it a little bit and giving it some more camber is next on the list for sure.

wow, I am very impressed man. the amount of work it took to get your 240 to that condition is crazy, and i thought i put alot of time into mine. I just hate body work, rather be wrenching on the motor. missoula huh? i am over there everyonce in a while, maybe should meet up sometime when i am over there and bs over drinks, i am usually bored when i am there cause just sit around at my grandmas house. but then i am related to like half the damn town.

i wanted to get my 240 over there a couple summers ago and race those lotus elise's that are running around. but never happened

I'd rather be wrenching on a motor too LOL...but doing body work doesn't bother me too much, so I don't mind it...and yeah I'd be down for meeting up sometime dude.

Ok, another update...I'm will be getting new window tint on Thursday. Also, just to save myself some money, I went ahead and took off the old tint.

The driver side window was the only one that had purple tint on it (replacement window after the original one got smashed)

Needless to say...this was a pain in the a** to get off, holf f***.

The rest of the windows had the regular tint on them, and were super easy to peel off.

The glass here already had some that peeled off as you can see here...not too sure why I left it like for the past year...procrastination ftw.

All I did was take a heat gun to the windows and used a razor blade to lift an edge up and pulled the rest off (except for the purple tint, I used the razor blade the entire time to get rid of that). I honestly spent like an hour alone on that driver side window...but for the other 4 windows, that only took me a half an hour at most lol.

Thats about it for now...can't wait til Thursday!!
