The car is back on its wheels...I'll have to teak the suspension a little bit more before driving it to anywhere since the alignment is horribly off. :chuckle:

With the free time that I do get every now and then, I usually ended up working on the SR.

Just a list of the parts that I had ordered for it:

Koyo Aluminum Radiator
Nismo Thermostat
ISIS Radiator Hose Kit
OEM Water pump
Megan Racing Downpipe and Turbine Extension
Circuit Sports Turbo Lines
Agency Power Auto Manual Clutch Line
Greddy Oil Filter Relocation Kit
Circuit Sports 7 Layer Exhaust Manifold Gasket
OEM Valve Cover Gasket
Circuit Sports Thermal Intake Gasket
OEM Turbo Inlet and Outlet Gaskets
OEM Intake Collector Gasket
Gates OEM Heater Hose Conversion
Nismo Motor and transmission Mounts
ISIS M-Spec Intercooler Kit
HKS SSQV BOV
ER Spec Aluminum Driveshaft
Spec Stage 3 Clutch
ARP Flywheel Bolts
Fidanza Lightweight Flywheel
And a bunch of other little things....gauges, etc.

The hard fuel line that was cut. :squint:

Everything so far had gone well...up until now. As I was tightening down the Intake manifold, I managed to crack it (in all honesty, more like broke it)...Not only that, but I had the torque wrench set to only 15 ft lbs....wtf.....
Image

Out of curiosity, I decided to tighten down another bolt on the manifold just to see what would happen....and sure enough....it cracked, again.
Image

At this point, I'm going to have to hold off on working on it until I find a replacement manifold...

(^ how I feel right now...)

I really wanted to get this car on the road again this year...but it's looking like that might not happen, especially if any more setbacks likes this occur.

It looks like it's time to update this again! :naughty:

Decent progress has been made since October (thankfully) and I'm nearly at the point of being able to drive this again (been sitting in the garage for almost two years :frown: )

It was about mid-December when I finally got the motor/trans into the car and everything bolted down.
Image

Image

In addition, I also got a new carpet (for the front)....since the last carpet that was in there wasn't really a "carpet," it was more like some fuzzy fabric that can be picked up at any arts + crafts store. Since I didn't have a template/old carpet to reference off of, I had to accurately guess where the cuts had to be made.

Trying to get the new carpet in there and making the appropriate cuts was incredibly frustrating....and I gotta say, I will never do that again. :squint:

I'll have to trim it down some more once I get around to putting the interior panels back on.

And a shot of the interior from the rear and the rear strut bar....nothing special here.

The engine bay as of yesterday!

The only thing I have some concern about (oil filter relocation):

And looking at this picture I managed to find...

I assume those hoses are set up correctly then? (only reason why i have some doubts is because of other setups I've seen when I was looking around on other forums, google, etc.)

Anyway, there's really not that much left to do at this point...I just gotta set up the wiring for the gauges, put the dash and interior panels back in, put the fenders, intercooler and front bumper back on, and add the remaining fluids (oil, coolant, power steering).........and then finally start it up! :mike

Everything is pretty much done at this point...except there's only one prominent issue that I'm running into. :argh

The motor will start up perfectly fine and run ok for a couple of seconds, but then in will start to bog down and die in about 5-10 seconds later.

When looking at the A/F gauge that I have, it shows that as it begins to struggle, the motor runs more and more lean (not good).

So, I'm guessing the why the motor will not stay running is due to a problem in the fuel delivery? :gotme

Gonna check the fuel pressure this weekend to see what numbers I get, and then go from there I guess. :frown:

Another update.

I checked the fuel pressure when the motor started and it would jump up to ~45 psi and stay at that pressure (until the motor died). With that being said...it appears it's not a fuel issue at all that I'm running into.

Aside from that, when it comes to working on this car, that can be described in two words: "Murphy's Law" (I think I've might have said this earlier in the thread?)

Another thing I tried to fix was the oil leak from one of the turbo lines. The son of a b**** would leak oil from between the washer and the head on the banjo bolt. Eventually, when I was tightening it down further and further, I got to the point where I felt the bolt starting to turn with ease. Needless to say, my suspicions of what was going to happen were confirmed. :iconeek

Removed the bolt to try to see the damage to the threads.

Not good. :frown:

FFFUUUUUUUUUUU...

Next time, I think I'll use copper crush washers instead of the pos aluminum ones that were provided? Anyway, I'm kind of fed up at this point and chances are, I'll take this car to a shop (either in Portland or Seattle) to see if they can fix the damage (using a helicoil insert?) and to get the damn the running.

Edit: After doing some quick searching...it appears that quite a few people have done the same thing. :ohno:
