Thanks! Well, I guess it varies for different people. For me, I bet it'll take over 16 hours though (I'm assuming that I'll have to deal with seized bolts, and random BS like that)

As for the price range... so far, from what I've seen; they have ranged from $80 to $200 on average.

(Courtesy Nissan, on the other hand, is selling them for $1000 :ohno: (I can only assume those are brand new though) )

So yeah, if you are gonna sell your dash (black, I assume?), I'll definitely be interested. :yesnod

your best friend will be a small propane torch. heat up the bolts and youll have no problem taking them apart. and if you dont have access to a press i also recommend getting a reciprocating saw that will make it a lot easier to take out the metal sleeve that hold the bushings in

YESSS!!!

Well, I got these today...and I already ordered Tension Rods and speedbleeders (w/ thread sealant) from SPL (just waiting for them to be shipped).

In a little while, I'll go ahead and order a Nismo Power Brace.

I would just make a power brace. I did it with 1" square tube and I believe mine would be stronger than the power brace. It is really easy but just make sure you either tack weld it on the car or weld on some cross bars to keep the dimensions.

Yeah, I did think about that at one point...but, decided not go that route. That's just me though.

Anyways, I got even more stuff!

Just the SPL tension rods and speedbleeders (I wish I would've got these months ago).

Also, I should be receiving the power brace on Monday. :mike

Good stuff. After a while you should let us know how the pbm stuff is holding up. I've heard mixed reviews about quality.

I'll try lol...but that would be a while before I do that. :frown:

Well, my monday wasn't too bad hehe...

Although I did find this to be interesting.

Image

:gotme Is it suppose to be like that?

In other news, I finally found (through a friend of a friend) a mint dash, door panels, center console, etc. (black of course)....unfortunantely, I won't be getting those until summer UNLESS I spend the extra cash for shipping. Honestly, I don't even want to know how much the shipping would be. :ohno:

Not gonna lie, it didn't exactly meet up to my expectations either. Oh well... :gotme

Unfortunantely, not much else has happened since the last update I posted.

I just recently started ordering more stuff...

Image

I definitely need to buy more POR-15 for what I have planned. I didn't realize how small those 4 oz cans really were. :slap:

Oh, and I also have this to deal with still...

Image

So I bought this:
Image

To be honest, I have a bad feeling on what I'm gonna find once I cut out that part of the frame. :frown:

Anyways, it has become clear that I won't be able to start working on this until the semester ends...which is about mid-May. Lame.

Looking good, a lot of very helpful info in this thread. What is this jf brace that you guys are talking about? Fabricators market?

Well, here's another little update. Not much else has happened other than me acquiring a few more goodies.

Decided to get new oem front lower control arms; I figured why not, frsport was selling them for only $100 (for both left and right).
Image

Then I went ahead and picked this up today :mike ....this will makes things a lot easier.
Image

Couple of the new toys I bought lol, 1/2" impact wrench and a 3/8" air ratchet.
Image

Since the semester FINALLY ended, I'm looking forward to start working on the car again very soon. I find it kind of ridiculous that I've had most of these parts sitting in my room since December. :squint:

Hopefully, there will be more updates by next weekend. :bigthumb:

I've notice how no one ever includes things in their build thread that facilitate the build itself. Seeing brand new compressors and impact guns just makes me happy.

Well...........I guess I'll start with the good news.

I finally got around to using the new compressor and luckily, everything works out fine...there was one leak that I found but a little bit of thread tape solved that problem :chuckle:. Also, to my surprise, it wasn't as noisy as I thought it was going to be :mike .

Since the last time I posted in here, I bought even more POR-15 and a Greddy rear strut bar!

Image

Now on to the bad news I guess?

Unfortunantely, it looks like I'm gonna have to do all of the welding by myself...I was gonna have someone help me but that plan kind of fell apart. As for the little patch panels that need to be done, I'm not worried about those so much; I'm just worried about fixing that part of the frame that's rotting...On the bright side of things, I'm gonna go ahead and start taking take of that crap starting Monday.

For today, all I did so far was take out the carpet (it was more like just some type of fuzzy fabric glued in there) and cleaned it up a little bit.

Image

I'll eventually have to get a new carpet...so far, after doing some searching, I found this site http://www.stockinteriors.com/items.asp ... 0SX_Carpet. Still looking to see if there's any other places where I could order one from.

Anyways, after pulling the carpet.......... :squint: ..........I found this.

Image

Damn. :frown:

Later on today (or tomorrow), I'm gonna try to find some dry ice and try to get rid all that sound deadening stuff.

So, I decided just to go ahead and try to remove as much of that sound deadening stuff as I could on the passenger side.

Dry ice ftw!

Image

Accidently managed to pop this cover off....oops. :slap:

Image

The progress...

Image

Oh look, another rust spot. :argh

Image

I thought this was interesting; the hole was covered with...seam sealer? There was no cover and after looking on Courtesy Nissan, I'm fairly certain there should be one there. :gotme

Image

Where its at now.

Image

Gonna wait until tomorrow to do the driver side.

Got started on the driver side a little while ago...for the most part, it went ok.

...

Until I started removing the sound deadening material around the area of the rust hole.

Image

The area that's circled in red is the spot where I punched a new hole through the floor. S***.

So, yeah...after doing that, I pretty much stopped there for the day.

Honestly, if I find any new rust spots anywhere, I think I'm just gonna set the damn thing (car) on fire. :yesnod

Made only a little bit more progress this week.

Got most of the interior removed. I'm not gonna lie, taking out that dash wasn't exactly fun.

Image

Also, I decided to go ahead and build a creeper/dolly/whatever it's called. I figured this would make life a whole lot easier when trying to drop the subframe and moving it around in the garage, etc.

Image

The car as it sits now...

Image

Oh, also, I actually went ahead and cleaned up that clear plastic piece that covers the gauges. Basically, I just sanded it lightly with a 3000 grit pad (wet, of course)

Image

and buffed and polished it...Now, it looks sooooo much better than it did before.

Anyways, once I'm finished taking the summer class that I'm in right now (just one more week!), I'll go ahead and actually put a good amount of hours into the car. So, there should be a decent update by next Sunday.

Thanks!

Well, I felt like posting this cause I was stoked that I finally received all (well...most) of the interior panels I had paid for a while ago.

...and...

No cracks!

Nice work. Like how you're tackling the rust. Mega ouch tho, but it has to be done.

Yep. :frown: I kind of feel like an idiot now for not taking care of the rust on the frame eariler, like I should have. I discovered it about 2 years ago (?) and waited until now to do something about it. :slap:

Okay....Right now, I got most of the front suspension off. I just need to remove the sway bar and that's about it.

Image

I'm not gonna lie, trying to remove those ball joints from the spindle was a PITA! I ended up using a pickle fork and 3 lb. hammer to remove them.

Image

But, what I probably should have used was a ball joint popper of some sort....long story short, I basically destroyed all of the ball joint boot things. The ones on the FLCAs didn't matter to me cause they were getting replaced anyways, but the ones on the outer tie rods will have to be taken care of. :slap:

Image

Correct me if i'm wrong but on my front sway bar...these are rear endlinks, right??

Image

Got some more stuff accomplished today.

After removing the exhaust, I went ahead and started the process to drop the gas tank. I had to siphon out about 7 gallons of gas first...spent a couple of hours doing that.

Anyways, it was eventually removed! It definitely needs some cleaning up though. Oh, other than that, I was actually surprised how clean it was on the inside of the tank.

Image

Meh, not as bad as I thought it would be...the metal around those holes is still pretty strong for the most part, so it looks like I don't have to cut out as much.

Image

The culprit behind the rust issue that was on the lower part of the quarter panel a while back. There should be some type of rubber plug there... :squint:

Image

Then I went ahead and removed the rear shocks/struts...which took about a whole 10 minutes. :rotflmao

I'm guessing these are aftermarket springs?

Image

My goals for tomorrow: remove both sway bars and drop this son of a b****.

I'm so glad I don't have to deal with rust.

And yes, you have some odd front swaybars, which are using rear endlinks..

Alrighty...I got going on dropping the subframe. Started off by removing the nuts from the driveshaft. It took me a while to figure out that doing this was a whole lot easier when the transmission is in gear. :slap:

Image

Image

Next up was removing the e-brake cables. The one on the driver side was easy to take off the subframe...but the one on the passenger side was a little more difficult. The bolt I was trying to remove got rounded-off  . So I had to take it off the hard way I guess.

Image

Getting it set up to drop...

Image

Image

After placing the creeper to where I wanted it. I removed the two nuts holding the subframe in the rear, then removed the two in the front.

Image

It doesn't look too bad underneath...

Image

Went ahead and removed both sway bars and the two bracket things in the front.

Image

Image

This needs some cleaning up too...

Image

And....yeah, these past few days have been succesful! :mike
