soooooooooo

back from the dead.

i finally got around to getting my trans mount done, (well mostly done) just need to slot the holes that actually attach the mount to the trans.

its basically one piece of solid aluminum that i had my buddy cut to fit. i love having people who can use fancy laser cutters and all that jazz to make things easier.

i was too lazy to snap a pic of the mount, will have to do that when i work on it this weekend.

also think i got the wiring mostly squared away; so now its almost time to fire her up and then do some troubleshooting.

the write-ups and how to's on club s12 are very very haphazard; so it took awhile to figure out what i *think is the right information

as alot of the local guys know, this whole build has had me down, alot of the things that should've been easy were rediculously time consuming, and between classes and work i havent had alot of free time as of late.

so yesterday i cleaned up the shop; threw some stuff up in storage to give me more floorspace/ organization to perhaps have the motivation to finish this turd in a timely fashion.

since i doubt anybody realizes how much crap i still got from all my projects, i snapped a picture of the loft

and on my way down i thought this was a cool angle

sooo yea

i will do work soon and have this done

ok ya'll if anyone remembers

i bought this stupid s12

i got so busy with work and school and the clusterf*** that was the wiring and almost lost hope.

sad panda

then! someone points me to a part supplier, OEM surplus who bought all of nissan's old stuff when they descided it wasnt worth their time to carry parts for outdated models.

completely untouched body harness.... 150 shipped to my door

yessss i realized through sketchy reading on club s12.org that alot of people with mk 1.5s as they are called have wiring nightmares; it was a rush in R&D and it just sorta got thrown together (or so it looks like)

i went with an 87+ harness, because it seemed to be the easiest with the swap guides.

new harness ready for install:some shots of it going in.

here is the only plug i need wires from the bay area. i will make a plug and just run the wires in a jumper harness across where the factory fan shroud is.

i think the harness originally ran right along the radiator; but i sorta wanted to avoid it touching the rad, since im using an s13 one, and decided to run the harness by the headlight assembly. i checked the clearence of it, seems like it will work but its tight......

heres the only wires i need to touch on the inside; they end by the drivers side (where the stock ECU rests) i thought it would be easier to trace them futher back and tie them into the ECU where it will be mounted in the glovebox.

lets see.... since its a completely stock harness i figured i might as well put most of the rear interior back in (i was a bit crammed for space as well..... and the carpet.

finally i got my swastikas out, i have one more to prep and then a polish to all of them before i mount some tires i got on them; these will be the wheels untill i lower it; which wont be till its warm

cheers ya'll off to work but i feel its commin together finally

Sweet find on that harness. Makes me want to get one but I already made a custom one. It's ALOT less wires then the stock one. Theres less then 50 in mine but I'm no longer running fuel injection soo

+1 on your wheels and +2 for your clean interior.

New harness looks reaaaally good man. Good to see you making headway again. I think running the wiring under the core support is a fine idea, just like they do for s13's. Plenty of room there.

Plz do a small writeup on your polishing methods when you do those wheels.. I need some suggestions for doing the same thing lol.

ya dude its not hard.... i used 800 grit and then 1500 grit and then just used megairs (or w/e) aluminum polish

pictures actuallya make em look cleaner, i mean they shine but i didnt get them 100% polished

UPDATE!

ok so i finished the wiring harness in da bay.

heres the drivers side all wired up and tucked... sure theres still the fuses in the bay, but i can get covers that cover them up.

i think im going to go with a cone filter w a maf adaptor and ditch the stock airbox (it wont fit that nicely in the s12's bay)

yay!

then i stripped the old harness of almost all of the plugs, the SMJ and fancy crap

never know when you will need/ want to make a jumper harness.

haha for some reason, i didnt get a picture of the wheels which i got mounted, but check this fail gap

once march rolls around it will be dropped big time nuff of this stock ride height crap it looks goofy

and finally put all the inner crap back in under the dash; just need to bolt it down tmw; and then im going to lay the dash in and test the system

and ill leave you with a teaser shot of the front mocked up ready to see it light up

if you squint long enough you sorta see an AE

ok maybe im just buzzed

Yeah, its a cool build, I'd like to see it come along, but projects take time. I just love those old Datsun wheels, just too skinny, but good starters.

You really cleaned it up nicely inside and out, even if it took awhile. s***'s ready to hit the ground running!

Hopefully your KA bearings are still good and not tired from sitting not moving for too long

?

there are alot of RWD jap cars from the 80s.....

really old maximas, 810s, toyota corollas, cressidas, s12s Z's etc if you look to the euro's theres even more

thanks dude; sometimes i feel like it gets no love around here, its a pretty primitive car when u look at the suspension, but parts are cheap and the cars themselves are pennies since alot of people see them as s***boxes

once i get it on the road i think it will get more looks

I'd build up the suspension in an S12 before putting that much speed in it (like your SR...). S12 stock suspension is really dumpy and scary without modification.

I think a lot of people don't realize it has semi-trailing arm rears; early models have a solid live axle. That's not even as good as the Z31 300ZX.

You can drop the Z31s rear arms into it, they will bolt-up with a little bit of fab...

I still wanna see this thing in person. I might have to wait till Carlisle to see it tho, 2 hours drive is a bit much.
