thanks dude i actually am on there; just a diff name (tried using this name and it locked me out)

my username there is schassisowner

i do know about the hybrid DS but i dont think it works with the automatic cars.

all i know is the carrier barring is not centered properly on the automatic car, and for piece of mind im just gonna go one piece

i have read your suspension guide a bunch of times, thats going to come this spring hopefully.

Yes, this would be the $800-$1200 option...

REAL LSD for the win. you can always start by doing the r200long conversion with an open diff, then drop the cash on an aftermarket lsd later

Wasted on a 200SX without a rear S13 conversion. The CLSD is a far more correct application for a car such as this.

For the auto driveshaft, it'll work. The center carrier bearing is in the same location for all S12s. It's just that your floorpan is a MK1, which means the trans mount is in a different location, making it look like it's in a different location. Try using your S13 front half first, if it doesn't work, at least you knew you were going to use the one piece anyway. I'm fairly certain it'll bolt up though, because I checked the Nissan FAST with Justin(eightysix200sx on cs12) and it shows the length for both auto and manual rear halfs are the same length. The only difference is the flange that differs between the R180 and R200(turbo and V6).

you're dumb.

he can REMOVE the LSD from the diff should he decide to migrate to another rear end. its not like once the diff is installed, itll never come out.

you obviously know things about this S12 nonsense, i figured you'd realize that a diff install isn't a one time deal.

correct; actually found a CLSD from a z31 for sale for a decent price.

i might pick it up soon; and piece together the long nose later; but most of the long nose r200's have a lower final ratio; which is going to kill my acceleration.

there are 4.11 final drive ratio; so it would be a matter of finding a car w that ratio; rip out the open crap; drop in the CLSD, mate it with n/a Z31 axles and bingo; factory CLSD

but for now im probably going to use a hybrid driveshaft; since its pointless to order a one piece for an r180 if im going to swap it out for an r200 later

and converting to s13 rear suspension?

wtf you cant do that without totally making your own mounts; welding and the whole mess trying to put multi link in

its not the ideal setup but its a fuggin s12

ha i prob will weld this rear; but i want it running/ on the road before i mess with all the fun stuff.

so more progress.

driveshaft is in! fits perfectly, i had to drop the trans mount to get the half shaft to slide in, but there is enough clearance where i have the mount already so i know for sure it will be fine when i go one piece.

heres the setup:

stock s13 front half with carrier bearing

back is from the s12; the flange fits both on the halfshaft and the diff no problems and its real tight.

i got confused since alot of guys with autos said it didnt work; but i didnt take into account they were running CA18dets

pics:

sorry the pictures suck, but i didnt have it jacked up too high or at all in the rear and it got cold real quick tonight (snowing now)

also put the rest of the drivers side interior back in; just two panels and the glove box have to go back in.

gotta pick up some trans gear oil in the AM; the store was out today

and finally; i heat wrapped my exhaust. sure its sorta old school, but so is the car.

plus the clearance is TIGHT AKA it almost rests on the floor pan, and while there is a heat shield over most of it, i dont want it to melt the paint/rust

fuel pump shipped today UPS so it should be here by this weekend.

im gonna try and at least primer the panels weds and thurs/ bleed the clutch/brakes and get the paperwork done w the DMV this week; so i can have this in the exhaust shop next week

RAD

oo and heres the clearance for the steering rack to the exhaust

Looks Great Josh, before you drive it too far, i'd have someone check that clearance while you rev the car, cause if the engine flexs down that way, dont want it snagging that steering column. But the way I'm thinking, the downpipe should get lower as you rev. Very nice work.

Did you ever figure out how to put that damn glove box back in.

That car is the biggest pain to disassemble.

Man, those things suck to get back in. You gotta like BEND the sucker lengthwise and fit the little tabs in the slots...

Oh man, me and him spent like 15min just turning the pieces every which way until we gave up. Its pretty bad when 2 college educated people cant figure out how to screw back in a glovebox.

pretty sure rallying it would be just as destructive as drifting it.

id settle for it just to be drivable; i haven't even looked at it in a week, it has me super pissed off
