I am located in CO. I could maybe map the climb for you? lol. The welds on the cage aren't the prettiest for sure. I can talk to my uncle for your. He used to race CHCA http://chcaracing.com/ and got offered to run Pikes Peak but didn't have the funding. I can talk with him about any questions you may and possibly show him the pictures of your cage. I even know somebody that race the Peak and rolled off so he should know some info also.

I'll be in touch shortly! Thanks for the offer.

I need a real KA pro...if that's you, or if you know someone who is, you're totally hired.

Also, upon further inspection, I think my HP brakes are Titanium. Wouldn't that be kick arse?

Ken.

Thanks for the offer! I have actually run Pikes Peak already. For the past five years. But until now I have raced it on an ATV. The reason I feel that this car will be competative as soon as it hits the Hill is because I have driven the road more than 300 times. I think I know the road better than most. Who's your friend in the CHCA? I know allot of those guys, maybe I know him.

I will keep an eye on this thread, Ive spent enough time in and around an S14 to be of at least a little help, plus I have experience when it comes to playing in the dirt. If you have any questions, dont be afraid to ask.

My uncles name is Sean Noyd and he raced from like 99-02 I think and his friend is Gary Duran I believe is his last name. He rolled off a few years back in an open wheel.

Does anyone have any idea about these cams? They are not Stock, but were part of an engine that was built around certain class rules. The class had to use all Nissan internals. So the pistons are higher compression Nissan units, and the rods are balanced Nissan factory pieces. If anyone knows where I can get more info about Nissan race goodies, I would appreciate it.

Just as a project update, I am just about finished getting my shop ready to start the build. Since I was in Colorado for the last year, my garage got a bit neglected, so I'ts been quite a project to make space. And I just got off the phone with my sponsor and my first check will be here August 2nd. Then the real fun starts.

Bye!

is it possible it is just a S13 KA cam swap? 248/248 duration? I cant remember the paint colors for each duration. There is 240/248 on S13 KAs, and 232/232 on S14 KAs. I think it is a cam swap because I know on both engines, one has orange pain and the other has green, and obviously yours are both orange. I don't remember what colors are which tho.

$8,000 Celica my friend Jeremy built can beat your $50,000 car even when it was running.

Such a waste of money.

I think the $50,000 counts for the car, and legal fees to obtain full custody of his son. Which is a better investment than any car will ever be.

must have been a setback in the release of the latest artist's renderings of the "new silvia" and the obligatory tuner mag article to go with it.

I'm saying that the $50,000 he used was spent on legal fees to obtain custody of his son, and not all $50,000 was used to buy the car.

Who are you, Dude?

The 50,000 spent was on legal fees to get custody of my son (best money I ever spent).

I haven't spent jack squat on the car yet, and I intend to spend as little as possible. My entire budget will be under ten grand and I'll still make it to the top of Pikes Peak with a respectable time. Know why? Because I'm a pretty good mechanic and an even better driver. Think you can drift into a corner at 100+mph with a 4000' drop off behind it? If so, then sack up and come race with me at Pikes Peak. I've done it for the last five years without the benefit of a roll cage:This is me crossing the finish line in 2007.

Maybe you should read a little closer before throwing out this kind of garbage, Dude. What are you, 12? Did it say anywhere in my Title or Thread that my 50,000 car can beat Jeremy's 8000.00 Celica? Take your Ritalin and quit your posturing.

Bye!

Men if you need any advice, what I know, I can give you. Our whole car has been built on a budget of around 10k So we know what we are doing to build **** on the cheap. I can give you some paths to take and some ideas if you are interested in sponsorship, because 80% of what is on our car has been parts that have been discounted significantly.

Good luck, and like I said I can do what ever I can to help from across the country.

Thanks for the offer! I'll definitely be taking you up on it! Any advice you can give will be greatly appreciated. Where I'll really need the deep discounts is with an engine builder. I don't know any solid import mechanics here in the Dallas area. I'm sure they're around, I have just never dealt with them. My history is in giant cubic inch american iron.

I'm definitely going to go KA-T for this project. I know Rhys Millen's Solstice (talk about big budget!) is making about 450-500hp. I'll need to be in the 400-450 range to be competitive. I have no dillusions about besting his time next year. I just want to get a car on the hill and be competitive. The win will come in time. 75% of it is knowing the road, and I know it VERY well.

Thanks again!!

yeah I wouldn't worry about Millen, He is a phenomenal driver and a professionally backed one at that. For an engine builder I would just ask around. I know the machinist in my area who specializes in fords does outstanding work on imports too. so all you have to do is ask, and maybe check references of import cars that they have done.

I would personally run the car at a lower HP for the first year anyway until you are comfortable with it. And so that you don't break anything. That would be my biggest thing, finishing and especially on a budget I would try and go less hp and utilize the modified suspension your car came with to your advantage.

Finally got going on this project early this morning. I wanted to get some work done before the oppressive 105 degree temps hit my area. My good friend Johnny English came over and helped me get this thing stripped down to just about bare bones. Now we try to decide if we can afford to get it media blasted or if we just leave the crappy rattle can paint job in place (since I'll probably ding a fender or two sorting it out).

Got the rear subframe and gas tank yanked out...funny thing, the gas tank is still nearly full of race gas...seven year old race gas.

Nicely sleeved and welded bushing area.

Nearly stripped down:

Where the rear sub frame and gas tank used to be:

Johnny English letting the sparks fly while cutting out the old trunk floor...it will be replaced with lightweight aluminum:

Pedal Assemblies all removed:

More shots of the nakedness:

Front Subframe and steering removed:

I'll be getting some of the old (poorly done) body work cut out tomorrow morning. I'll post more then!

Bye!

Nice to see this thing getting under way in a timely fashion.

I nominate this build for Nico's official pikes peak car.
