I don't think the turbo I'm getting is twin scroll. I think that's an option, but not on what I'm getting. Here's what I DO know about the turbo they're sending: Garrett 60-1 ball bearing. They're sending both the .36 and .48 ex housing to give me some options. It's my understanding that the .36 will spool faster, but limit top end and that the .48 will come on later but give me incredible top end. Either way, good for 550-600hp. We're expecting 425-475whp at altitude (Pikes Peak race starts at 9400', then up to 14,110'). They're sending a TiAL wastegate (unsure of size) and a TiAL BOV (should be pull type). I'm thinking that my red line will be in the neighborhood of 6500-7000. The block is essentially race prepped and I'll be adding a good set of forged pistons and steel h-beam rods. What compression ratio? 8.5 or 9.0? Will the 9.0:1 help me transmission from motor to boost in the tightest corners? What are the disadvantages of higher compression ratios (above 8.5:1) with a turbo? Also, lets talk about head and intake porting...It's my understanding that the stock intake on the KA is pretty good without modification. I will be stripping it down to the bare minimum and I already have a Q45 TB for it. I just need to weld on the new flange. Will a gasket match (which it already has) be sufficient here, or should I spend some time blending and smoothing?
Bye!
