YAY NEW PAGE!!!!!!!

My own belts came in the mail yesterday. I got bit in the but by procrastinating for so long ordering them up. I ordered 6 points, only to discover that they are on back order for 6 weeks or so. Fail, so I got 5 points, which are fine. At least I got the color I want. Had blue at one point, and I didnt love it, then the black ones, which seemed boring, so I went for red.

Since I blew up page 21 with pictures. I guess I will do the same for page 22, so here we go.

Got a little work done today, but my wife was having a garage sale, so I had to be quiet, and not move the car around.

I started by adding the finishing touch to my Finnish Flag.

Image

Then went ahead and applied a few more stickers. GrimmSpeed does not currently make anything for the 240SX, but they are a great local fab shop specializing in Subaru's and stuff. Hopefully I can con them into building me a master cylinder brace or something else cool like that. Thats right guys, Im calling you out.

Image

Finally got the Outo Jätkä name on the car.

Image

More GrimmSpeed.

Image

And finally I started getting the new belts installed. Got almost all the drivers side belts in, but needed to turn the car around and jack it up, so I called it a day. I really like the red, makes for a nice contrast. Only a few things left. LSPR is looming closer. I am excite.

I just read all 22 pages of your thread, as well as the links to the other posts and stuff. I just want to say, awesome car, and great job. I hope to be getting into something similar soon, myself.

Dexter is all in as Co-Driver, and I tracked down a HANS device to borrow. There are only a handful of things left before we are ready to go.

Its going to be a great race weekend. 34 Cars registered so far, and early entry isn't even up yet.

Everyone get out and support this great race.

Update.

No pictures, but I did get some little stuff done. Harnesses are all but intalled, just need to mount and adjust the anti sub belts.

I also pulled the co driver seat and moved the mount back and down. with it set up for Jenny, my head was all up in the cage. now i fit better.

Tomorrow i hope to pick up a windshield, and a Quest alternator to deal with the additional lights.

Almost time.

Got a pretty Denso 1997 Nissan Quest alternator. Hopefully we wont have any charging system issues between this thing and the Optima redtop.

Its just a little bigger.

Image

Fits good.

Big thanks to J-Lak for pulling the old alternator out. My list of things to do keeps getting shorter.

Buttoned up a few more things today, and then pulled the car out for a wash. Almost ready.

Harnesses and seats installed again. Dexter should fit now.

Got some more stuff buttoned up last night. Big thanks to Broc and Sam for the help.

Cutting off the busted skid plate mount.

Image

Nice to have all my skid plates back in place.

Then me and Broc pulled apart the new lights, and swapped out the lenses for a set of fogs instead of the spots. Then we installed some 130 watt bulbs and got to aiming.

It took us a while, and we had to go for a few test drives, but I think I got them all aimed the way I wanted.

Image

Then today, I took a little drive, and had a new windshield installed. No more cracks. Big thanks to Bob's Bullseye Auto Glass, for giving me the hook up.

Just need to re apply the window banner, and the car is about LSPR. What the heck am I going to do for the next 2 weeks?

So I got a little carried away.......

Being as the car does not have any sun visors I thought to myself, hey, I should make a full windshield banner out of tint. That way it can block the sun.

So I did. I really expected tint to be more of a pain to work with, but all in all Broc and I were able to do a near pro job. On to the pictures. I picked up a 26 foot roll of 6 inch wide 5% tint film.

One strip on the windshield.

Image

Image

Then I got into the car and realized, that the whole strip of tint was hidden behind the cage. What to do? Add another strip.

Now we're talking.

Image

5% is kinda dark eh?

Image

Image

Then we applied the Rally America banner.

Image

Image

Then things started to get out of hand. So I have all this extra tint film. Granted I only paid $13 for the roll, but still. What to do with it. Well you are not always driving right at the sun, so why not do the side windows too.

Yes I know its crooked. I took it off and made a new one that was straight.

Image

It really works out great. It blocks light from high angles, while leaving my sight paths nice and clear.

Image

It also cuts down on glare in the car.

Image

Hey look, new intercom mounting location. This way when I get all cranky and decided not to listen to Dexter anymore, I can just turn him off.

Image

And before calling it a night Broc peeled Jenny's name stickers, and the old flags off the car. Now my name is all lonely on there.

Image

Thats it for tonight. Next update will likely include the great arranging and cataloguing of spare parts and stuff. Stay classy Nico.

Thanks. I was planning to run 2 cameras for LSPR, but my Go-Pro HD took a dump on Friday, so unless I can get it sorted or replaced by Wednesday, I will just be running a single standard Go-Pro.

Was out riding the North Shore when the Go-Pro died

Image

Image

Mini update.

Spent Saturday replacing half the lights on the trailer to get us back up to spec. Then Broc and I blew up my garage, spreading all my spares out, organizing everything.

Image

Then we got everything piled in the corner, ready to load into the truck. Just need to swap some times around for spares.

Image

3 Days and counting.

I still need a few deliveries:

Racing suit
FR under garments
Helmet

I'm leaving Wednesday night... no pressure. Oh yeah, let's not forget the head and neck restraint that I pray is delivered to the hotel on time... At least I'll be prepared for next time.

Who says there is going to be a next time? :chuckle: ;)

Super secret engine build starts after LSPR. Debuting next season, 1 more cam, 3 more throttle bodies, and a healthy dose more compression.

Ran the shakedown stage 4 times today. On pass No 3 the car sputtered and lost power, came back, then went dead to the world. Coasted to a side road, i had no power to anything. i shut the headlights off and everything came back to life. started checking connections. Discovered a loose negative terminal. stuffed it back on and transited off.

Once tightened we made our final run, and headed to get some food.

tomorrow we do a bolt check and a once over, then do some solid racing.

Just got the car and all our gear unloaded. Home safe and sound. We finished both days events, and had more fun then I can express in words. Dexter did a phenominal job, and I cant thank him enough for coming on-board. We dealt with a ton of mud and nasty on Friday, and found some issues with the car, then on Saturday things dried out and we got to run fast. We made it through the weekend only having to change rear brakes, but in the grand scheme of things some parts of the car need some serious TLC. The current coilover setup has run its last race I think, and I do not trust the engine to complete many more stage miles without making holes in itself.

Let the rebuild begin.

Stay tuned for a full update, I have tons of pictures and even more video.

Only about 10 Gig of in car lol. I shot from 2 angles, with 2 cameras. Only got a handfull of stages from the dash cam (facing us) before the card got full, and Fridays night stages are likely junk because the light sensing was on the wrong setting, but I will try to salvage them. I got every stage on Saturday, and the stages were incredible. Hopefully the in car represents the speed ok, getting air at 95 mph on gravel is an incredible feeling.

Found some videos already up on youtube.

Quick shot of the service crew swapping out the rear breaks that I cooked, and then a clips of a spectator corner. I am in there somewhere.

And a set of clips of a spectator corner from a great angle. It was very rutted, and I was doing my best.

Her and Chris Gordon bought back Matts old Open Light Subaru Impreza. They were servicing just to the right of us in the first video.

They DNF'd on Friday due to a failed alternator, but came back for an awesome finish on Saturday. Hopefully Chris will pop in here to talk about how awesome of a weekend he had.

Agreed! :dblthumb:

You enter at 2:08 in the first Video. Do you plan on racing in other rallies outside of MN? On June 1st 2012 I will be going to see STPR in northern PA

BTW the 240 sounds pretty nice.

Thanks. I would love to do STPR some day, but I think it may cross over with PPIHC, which I really want to make it to this year.

Ok, I got the first video uploaded. It is a compilation of build pictures, and in/out car videos. My connection is slower then I thought, so I will start getting the others up as fast as I can, they are very large files.

Enjoy.
