I welded a panel on initially. It looked like garbage. The rivets look a lot better, plus the roof is much stiffer now because I was able to pull it tight.

Also, if and when I manage to take a tumble, replacing the roof panel will be as easy as drilling out the rivets.

The trunk was dented, and the clear coat was pealing. Plus I have no use for coupe pieces, I only have hatches now.

PS, have ever tried removing tempered glass from an S chassis? I have, and no thank you.

i dont know how it is on s13's, but on s14's its cake. they dont glue in, its like a foam tape that is easy to cut with a window removing wire. but the windows that were glued in (having been replaced) were a PAIN IN THE a**..

Yah, S14s are easy. The S13 windows are glued in using polyurathane. The stuff is vicious.

More updates are coming. Bodywork has started, and I will be getting more done today.

We have skid plate.

I finally got around to getting the plate installed. Except there was a slight change in plans. Originally I had planned to use a single main skid plate, with a bend in the middle. After a few different attempts, I made a decision. Instead of bending the plate, I cut it. This will make removal for service much easier. The whole sheet would have been heavy, this way, its much lighter. Plus, the front portion should never need to come off.

Turning 2 into 1.

Image

Then I marked out the mount points, and drilled holes. Uni bits FTW.

Image

Image

Test fitting the bolts. 5/8" diameter, grade 5.

Image

Image

Marking where I want nuts welded on.

Image

I will be adding a fifth bolt all the way in front of the core support.

Image

Then I repeated the whole process. Looks awesome with both plates installed.

Image

Thats it for tonight. I need to get some lights so I can do some testing with the new rear springs before the snow flies.

Picking up some aux lights tonight. Finally time to build a light bar.

Cale is in the process of building the coolest shift knob ever. Just wait till you guys see it. I will try and update over the weekend.

Enjoy 'em!

I know you're looking at HID conversion, but if you don't, those FF1000 lights can be run up to 130W bulbs, as long as you only run them when you're moving, so that there's air moving over them to keep 'em cool. And as we talked about, the H1 HID retrofit kits work very well, since the HID capsule is a near perfect match for an H1 bulb.

Can't want to see how far a set of Rallye 4000 pencil beams with 55W HIDs can project.

Bar is build, and lights are wired, but I may be doing HIDs sooner then I thought. The bulb in one of the pencils is burnt out. Im guessing the ride in the back of my truck had its way with it. I already have ballasts, hopefully I can find some HID bulbs locally. If not, halogens it will be.

Pictures are uploading.

Best idea ever.

So Cale and I were joking about shift knobs. Currently I had the plastic B&M that was in the coupe. So I was thinking of doing a small homage. Since Cale and I both put redbull back like water, it was only a short leap.

In the drifting world, everyone uses the big plastic dildo shift knobs. Well, an 8.3 oz can is about that size, lets see what we can do.

Punched a hole in the bottom of a full can.

Image

Waste not.

Image

Remove bottom.

Image

Leftover fiberglass resin.

Image

Voilà.

Image

I can't wait to get the car out for some testing, to get a full idea of how well it will work.

MMMMM, HELLA.

Image

Marking it out. Im running the 2 pencil beams in the middle, and the driving lamps on the outside.

Image

Test fitting to make sure the hood will still open with the bar and lights on.

Image

All the lights installed on the bar.

Image

All mounted up.

Image

Image

Image

Building the wiring harness.

Image

For quick disconnects.

Image

Like I said, one of the bulbs is burnt out, I will be fixing that today, look for lit pictures as early as tonight.

Im off to work on the exhaust.

So bright.

Getting started on the exhaust.

Bung for the wideband.

Image

Image

Wideband Gauge installed.

Now I just need to get some bends done so I can finish the piping.

Argh. I must have grabbed a used bulb and stuck it in there. Sorry Ian.

It occurs to me that I have no need for H1 bulbs any longer as I'm going 100% HID, so email me your address and I'll send you my stash of six 130W H1 bulbs.

Hopefully it won't be too long before I can post pics of my setup. 2x Hella FF1000 Xenon driving lights (same as the ones Ian has on the outside, but with factory 35W HID), and 2x Hella Rallye 4000 pencil beams with 55W HID H1 conversion kits. (The FF1000 is a 7" light, the 4000 is a 9" light).

Don't know why I haven't gotten emails on these updates, the new format still appears to not like me.
Think you can get a pic of what the view looks like with the lights on? show what it would look like when driving toward a Cale sized object at 50 yards...
