Hehe, thanks. I still have a blast every time I drive it. It's finally starting to cool off and will much more fun to drive when I get power back. >100* weather sucks.

Have you seen it with the bumper off?

Q45-JJ, Who are you asking? What car are you referring to?

Gas consumption is the same except that I can't keep my foot off the gas pedal. The mod that hurt fuel mileage the most was the 4.08 rear diff. I can get 20+ mpg if I stay under ~60 mph. Over that and the RPMs are just too high.

Australian Q

May '93 build I picked up last year with less than 53,500 miles on the clock - with log books to prove. Poor car doesn't know what's going on as I've put another 13,800 miles on since.

Infiniti is a rare breed in Australia as only the Q45 was imported, and only between '93 and '96.

Note front and rear marker lights on the sides of the bumpers replaced with orange reflectors and inclusion of additional indicators behind the front wheels (Australian requirements).

Missing wheel centre on rear wheel.

Need help in identifying wheels so I can replace the centre. No luck on name as only standard markings on wheel itself - manufacture date, J7x16 & ET 42.Wheels look a little small in photos, but actually well balanced in the flesh. Wouldn't mind 18" versions of the same design though. Give a certain factory look as similar to the Q45t BBS, but chrome and gold.

Drawn a blank on the reverse of the cap as well GMC 50-02 on the cap, 1009 on the surrounding ring.

Nissan printed in the rear panel (one of the reasons the car flopped in Australia - how many Lexus owners would be impressed if their car also came with Toyota badges). I'd love to replace it but standard mail is out as the panel is too long. Car was sold locally called a Nissan Infiniti with no mention of the Q45 even though its still on the boot/trunk and was printed on the manual. Nissan Australia would have had trouble bringing any other models in by naming it this way.

Note the radio, climate controls and gear lever surround are reversed left to right so no importing second hand American replacements if needed later on.

Only the TCS button on the centre console. Car was garaged day and night so good interior despite Australian climate.

Apart from the Nissan name, other reasons the car failed to sell in Australia included suspension considered way too soft for Australian tastes and the exorbitant price. At today's currency rates the equivalent of over US$110K - that's not a typo! Glad I paid only US$10,200.

Work over the past 10 months:-- New battery (car had done very little work for 6 months)-- Regassed bonnet struts-- Alarm fitted-- Brake master cylinder rebuilt (couldn't obtain new)-- Water pump replaced (seal failed on original unit, immaculate inside proving nothing as good as OEM with good maintenance)-- Replaced cruise control switch with second hand unit as lettering begining to wear off-- Broken cable on antenna - bought replacement aftermarket mast but cable is wrong size-- Wheels aligned (twice as virtually no-one knows the Q in Australia so they worked to Maxima specs until I supplied the right ones)

Hey guys, been lurking around the forum for a bit, have been putting a VH41 into an R31 skyline, and now i have also just bought myself Q45!

Its a 1989 Nissan Infiniti Q45a JDM Spec

Engine is noisy, suspect the normal cam chain guide wearGearbox is was recently fully rebuilt and kitted auto transmission with 2800rpm torque convertor. Although the stick wont select 1st/2nd gearBrakes are in good conditionHas active suspension although is warn out, its a very harsh rideWheels seem to be 17x8 and 17x9", with brand new Hancook RS-2's 245/45/17 all roundECU is a NICO unit with 4 switchable mapsBody kit i have no idea, but is apparantly "wise-sports"Intake has Blitz LM core filterExhaust has been straight piped out the backKenwood double din mini disc/CD player, JL audio 6x9's in rear, Bose 4" in front

Has all the Electric windows, mirrors, seats, sunroof, ariel etc etc., dual zone climate control?

Car is in very good nick, front bar needs attention, and interior needs a clean. But apart from that it was a bargain

Plans are to fix the engine, front bar, clean it up and just drive it around

I saw your car on some other site, But I am sorry but where do I start to list whats wrong with the car, There is just too much.

Any ways: I love the air purifier in the back between the rear speakers, the HVAC controls (If only understood them), head lights, wheels and the JDM mirrors and the center console vents.

Think you can sell me any of the above? (Seriously)

But do you know if the chain guides were replaced?

I think you should run and AT-CHECK to check the transmission:

Also need a great cleaning.

Very nice. Good job on getting that. Once it's cleaned up and mechanically sound, you'll have a fantastic car on your hands.

Fairly certain those are a dealer add on. No OEM wheels that I know made in Taiwan.

IT does? All I see are replicas. All JDM and Asian BBS I have ever seen are all made in Japan.

There is no "normal cam chain guide wear" except as a prelude to fatal failure.

Hope you have the OEM CAI!

Fix your suspension before driving it in failed mode and doing permanent damage.

At that point i hadnt actually looked as i had just purchased the car a couple of days before hand. The past few weeks the car has been in the workshop getting the full chain/guide kit and a few other things done to it. (the guides were infact broken)

The standard CAI is still in place too, but dont worry because i be making a heat sheild too.

also will be looking at fixing the suspension

Aussie-q'er -- your right about it looking like a walky kit

Hey guys,

Well.. I finally join the ranks with the fellow Q-45 owners.

She is a sweet ride. 1995 model, babied all her life. Vanilla white with brown leather interior. What a sweetheart!!!
