Okay, I just got back from Carlisle, and saw the course. I'll try to answer some of your questions.
It's an asphalt "out- and-back" oval course with a nice chicane in the middle on each side. One will be somewhat on-camber, the other somehat off-camber which should make it a little more interesting technically. It's a permanent course with a grass infield. I don't have the specs or lengths of the 4 straights, but it's a 2nd gear course with straights long enough that you'll be able wind it up pretty well, It looked in pretty good condition. I walked the course. The course can be run in either direction. I took a few pics, I'll get them posted once I dig out the camera.
It looks fun.
The paddock is beside the start/finish areas and both the track and paddock will be fenced in. There will also be Carlisle security on hand at the entrance to the paddock and track. the drift/autocross event is considered private, so access will be restricted. The paddock is shaped like a tic tac toe board, grass in the middle with narrow pavement roads criss crossing. So I recommend bringing a cheap tarp to lay on the grass when unpacking your cars. The grass was pretty wet when I walked thru it today.
I will need to provide Carlisle the list of participants before the start of the event. so if you have friends that want to drive, I will need them to post on this thread by the Thursday before the event starts or they won't be allowed to run. There will be no walk-ins. If you are a participant, you will need to identify yourself to the admissions person when you pay your admisison and they will direct you to the paddock, where the tech and registration are located.
The main Fairgrounds entrance will be Gate 3 ( K street). It's pretty easy to find. You'll be turning left after the gates. I also drove by the Hotel Carlisle, where the after party is, nice place
the track is located on the north side of the property, and can be seen from the PA turnpike, There will be a lot of spectators, whose main vantage point will be along a ridge that looks down onto the course. Pretty nice. The NICOfest area, by the way, is right in the middle of the action, awesome location.
I secured some tents (canopies), plus a couple tables/chairs for the registration/tech area so they should be easy to spot.
The Carlisle main gates will open at 0800 both days. I'm still working out the schedules.
