My best friend lost his walkie so I just have mine so I don't know how much good that will be.
Based on the look of the track I can see the potential for some really good auto-x, but I'm not seeing much driftability of it, it doesn't look all that wide so you can't really get a good chuki dori <sp?> going for that tight *** 90 degree turn at the bottom of the track. I see the the donut in the little squared off section on the side of the track and a couple feint drift marks on the 90 at the bottom of the track I was hoping it would more a big oval with a trick chicane in the middle. Maybe I'm just missing something from the pics you've posted.
How many laps do we get per turn? I'm gonna get laughed at cause I am on stock suspension thats old as balls and no diff, so it should be interesting.
If your walkie talkie is CB based, like those motorolas, please bring it anyway. No, you won't be laughed at. And it appears there will be will be several participants with bone stock cars as well as some first timers. The emphasis is on fun.
With the autocross, it's one lap per run, and as many runs as you want. As far as drifting. it;'s also as many runs as you want, but I had assumed it was also one lap per run. But if you guys feel the drifting should be more than one lap, we can absolutely discuss it at the drivers meeting and decide then. I don't have a problem with 2 or 3 consecutive laps as long as the starter/drift judge and those lined up are not at risk. So it might end up that with multiple laps, the start/finish turn might off limits to drifting). The other concern I have with multiple laps is if the turnout is big, that everyone gets a shot to do multiple runs. We'll bring it up at the driver's meeting for sure.
The track was designed more for autocross than drifting. The tire marks (including that donut) were made not long before I arrived, by someone testing the track for drifting. He thought it worked fine. It's still a fun course. And the fact that it's not that long, means you can make multiple runs. The drifting will probably run clockwise, as the track is wider on the hill side of the track (opposite the PA turnpike side), so it'll give you more room to slide around that back turn. I was thinking the autocross might go the same way, but it was designed to go either direction.
Lug nuts will be checked at tech with manual torque wrenches, but I'm sure someone in the paddock will have one of those cordless impact wrenches and a floor jack.
