as far as the undercoat goes, i used two different kinds, on the diff i used some heavy duty stuff in a rattle can that i got at o'reilly's, then the subframe i used some stuff that i got at work! (nissan dealer) if you know anyone that is a tech they use it to protect the fuel sending units when they do the recalls on older frontiers and xterra's! has some special part # and is only used for those recalls! but it's some pretty amazing sh&# and its pretty expensive also! if i get a chance monday ill ask the parts guys for the part # and post it up! the stuff from oreilly's wasn't near as good quality wise but was alot thicker and rugged!slipnfall wrote:Sorry for the misfortune on the engine BTW.
I'm am curious to know what type of 'undercoat' you used - out of a rattle can I presume? Have you had past exp. with it?

i see the check valve but if memory serves me right that is a bypass valve that is only there to bypass the filter if there is a restriction, kind of a safety so you dont starve the motor of oil when smart people drive millions of miles on oil changes. i'm not a 100% on that but what you say could be correct also i'll have to do some more research and if that's the case then i'll have to get creative with designing it!Carl H wrote:just remember with the adaptor plate to design in a check valve...the filter tree on the stock vh has the check valve for drain back unlike the sr where the valve is located in the block.
