ok guys i think i have found a new motor, i have to drive 2 hrs to get it but it's only got 82k miles on it so i think it's worth it! i just don't have the time to build this other one within a month and a half! more or less the funds!

DAMN that sucks, my first motor was like that, it didnt make it 1000 miles lol before it spun the rod bearings.

I dont have any low mileage motors right now they are all 200k motors.

Im pretty sure the sr20 oil block wont work, if you do fab one be sure to use -12 fittings. Another option is to just remove the vh piece and thread the block for npt and screw in a fitting. good luck with the new motor, pop off the valve covers before you buy it.

its kinda sad but there are 2 kinds of q owners...those who take meticulous care of the car and those who just treat it as a car and dont bother to mantain it.my vh was sludge free and had a slight coat of varnish just from age...and it was one of the first gen engines with a build around 6/90.

nice i'm gonna talk to my brother this weekend, he's a cnc programmer and has access to all the tools and materials just need to get the dimensions for the an fittings which he probably knows already! my brothers machining skills never cease to amaze me! the guys been doing machine work for 15 + yrs. i'll give him the stock piece and let him take dimensions off of it to see if he can make a new billet piece and the an fittings too!

Sorry for the misfortune on the engine BTW.

I'm am curious to know what type of 'undercoat' you used - out of a rattle can I presume? Have you had past exp. with it?

just remember with the adaptor plate to design in a check valve...the filter tree on the stock vh has the check valve for drain back unlike the sr where the valve is located in the block.

It would be a good idea to have the AN fitting side facing as well, since rear facing fittings would lead to plumbing issues around the stock motor mounts.

as far as the undercoat goes, i used two different kinds, on the diff i used some heavy duty stuff in a rattle can that i got at o'reilly's, then the subframe i used some stuff that i got at work! (nissan dealer) if you know anyone that is a tech they use it to protect the fuel sending units when they do the recalls on older frontiers and xterra's! has some special part # and is only used for those recalls! but it's some pretty amazing sh&# and its pretty expensive also! if i get a chance monday ill ask the parts guys for the part # and post it up! the stuff from oreilly's wasn't near as good quality wise but was alot thicker and rugged!

i see the check valve but if memory serves me right that is a bypass valve that is only there to bypass the filter if there is a restriction, kind of a safety so you dont starve the motor of oil when smart people drive millions of miles on oil changes. i'm not a 100% on that but what you say could be correct also i'll have to do some more research and if that's the case then i'll have to get creative with designing it!

The thing in the filter tree is a pressure relief bypass from what I can tell by pulling it to bits. Big spring loaded monster.

I was also thinking of binning it by just tapping into the back of the block and running braided line from that to a remote mount fiter.

There is a thread somewhere that I started on the filter tree.

Regarding that oil filter plate, someone on here already made one for his project, you could try contacting him and maybe he'd have a CAD file for you. Here is his info

zer...38474

You can see the plate about half way down this page

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/563982/3

Good luck with this, I may be needing one for my project as well.

hate to break it to you but if you seperate the brake calipers they are essensialy useless after that...nissan specfically states in the repair manual to never seperate the caliper as it cannot be properly reassembled.
