The Z Nationals are in GA in September, there's a chance I'll be there in the Z if you're interested in meeting up. S-Chassis guys are allowed, lol.

jerry don't tell me that your gonna trailer queen that beast! if i get mine ready im gonna drive it 8 hrs to import alliance! spend the weekend in nashville and drive it to all of the events! although im not sure of how street legal your car is? you got turnsignals and all of your lighting working???

LOL

I trailered the car to d1 and that was only 35 minutes from my house. My car is 110 percent street legal, just no a/c lol. oh also i dont have wipers haha, thats the one thing i got rid of that i should have kept i guess.

After many years of breaking and or wrecking cars at the track i got the truck and trailer to pull it everywhere. I do drive the car all the time though, as long as im not racing an event i will drive the car up to about 2 hrs away for shows etc.

Remember its completly stitch welded, stiff, loud, uncomfortable, and hot just a pain. I love it though, i built the car to be more of a race car than a street car thats why i guess.

As a matter of fact, my wife just called and told me my pod video camera came in so maybe today when i get home ill take the car out and test the cam so look for some footage haha

Please do. Those of us in the process of swapping need some motivation! There's far too few VH video's out there.

lol grassi is my buddy who got into my account because my laptop automatically logs me in! what a punk! as far as the ecu goes I've been looking really hard at getting nistune! it's kinda like hondata for nissan's and is relatively easy to use from what i read!, i guess it's australian based and is reasonably priced! the only downfall is that there is only one dealer or tuner in the states that is trained on it and he is in texas somewhere! i actually spoke to him on the phone and if i remember correctly he was the founding member of nico or something like that! i think azhitman, that or he knows him! idk i cant remember! but when i called the number on their website for the american tuner that's who i spoke to!

if you have a shop vac then some diluted castrol super clean (25/75 superclean/water) works wonders for disolving that crap, just tape the head off and spray it on.use a toothbrush and come back thru with a water bottle spray and it will look brand new.

Looks great!!

Just becareful you dont get air into the lifters, your not supposed to turn them upside down, if they get air they need to be bled

Looks good Newb. Mine was similarly dirty. I didn't know the VH45 had the extra rib supports in the valley until I scraped all the crud out. In there I found a 10mm 1/4 drive Snap-on socket. The only Snap-on tool I own!!!!

Nope, not if they have air in them. I mean, eventually they will bleed themselves, but I dont think I'd allow them to have air in them and beat the cam lobes to hell in the mean time. If you dont take your cams out then the buckets probably wont need to be bled. You'll have the bleeding procedure in the ASSIST if you need it.

vh lifters will self bleed if there is air in them, you need to manually remove them and bleed them.some of my lifters were soft just from sitting for who knows how long.pumped them back up and its been sweet as since.

damn, i've been spinning my engine around on the stand not knowing about the lifters, pretty sure it's upside down at the moment. Oh well.

How come you didn't tape the exhaust ports off?

idk i just got lazy and there was some gasket material that wouldn't let the tape stick! i went ahead and pulled the plugs and blew out the cylinders and also put some oil in there! and rotated the assembly so that all of the water was pushed, out then i drained the oil and there wasn't any water in the pan! although i got a bit of bad news today. i pulled off the v/c's and there is burnt oil sludge all over the cam caps. all of the lifters are pumped up and the cams don't have any abnormal wear or scarring/grooves either! but im gonna spray everything in the top end down with rust penetrant and let it eat that sludge off and i think im gonna run a 70/30 mix of oil/d-matic through it for the first 5 or six oil changes! the trans fluid has a detergent that should help clean out the oil sludge! i'll just have to keep an eye on it and see how it performs! when i pull the timing covers off tomorrow ill really be able to see how the guides have faired the abuse! looking in the pan will tell the real story though! who knows im a bit dismal for the longevity of this motor just from what ive seen what ive seen in the valve train! gotta stay positive though i'm on a mission gotta try to get it ready for import alliance! the clock is ticking! thanks for input everyone!
