I've never had the money for much rice, or performance for that matter. When I was younger, I rocked a Daihatsu Charade sedan. If you want to be unique, find yourself one of them!

I wish I would of put all my body work money into mods for my prelude. I spent about 1k on body and ended up being a POS. 1k is a lot of money for a honda!

I've honestly just been a Less-is-more kind of guy, before my Nissan awakening i drove a 97 S-10 pickup that destroyed ricer civics and dsms around. 4.3l Vortech+RWD=Freshly Cooked Rice. I've also been traumatized by a few Hondas from the later 80s that would scare any of you. I've never seen such abuse of a GTR emblem in my life. I tried to take pics but the camera broke, then i felt sick to my stomach. The wing was worth more at a scrap yard than the whole car. and he had a GTR emblem on it.

Funniest thing I ever seen was a Miata with a GTR symbol in the front and back.

I grew up pretty much unaware of "rice". I was always into toy cars, since i was like 3 and grew up around unlces that were into classic muscle cars. What i really liked was the sound of cars, and nothing sounded better the the inside of my uncles interiorless 1969 black 427 corvette stingray with side pipes.

My first introduction to the world of imports was Popular mechanics (about 97-98 i would have to guess). It featured "the new era hotrod", with a black civic coupe laying down some rubber. It had a flame paintjob and chrome rims, but i still found it to be pretty attractive (no wings or body kits, it was more old hotrod style).

Fast forward to highschool, after looking for 300zx's I found my 240. Just days after buying it, I was at Barns and Nobels browsing and this one magazing caught my eye. It was this car that looked suprisingly similar to my car, only the headlights were different. I grabbed it off the shelf to inspect closer. It said in big letters "Drift Machine", Build a Tubo silvia for $3000. Immediatly im thinking, "damn, i just bought this car and i could have had a car like on the cover for only 600 more bucks." As i flip through the crisp pages i happen upon a article that made my jaw drop. It read "the power of perseverance ... this turbocharged KA24DE-powered 240sx now makes 438hp". Of course it was a S14, but it was a 240sx nonetheless and i was freaking out with joy about my cars potential. A few pages later i learned the cover car was also a 240sx, and i got even more excited. The rest is all debt-ridden, rice-free performance history :pface

I still have that magazine, its my origional inspiration:

I remember that magazine article fondly. The guy went through like 3 or 4 engines in the S14 didn't he?

My first experience with 240's was Initial D back in 01'. The S13 Silvia, 180sx, Sil-Eighty, and S14.

Ahh the memories. :D

Woo... I was too young to really know the difference, much less to actually have a car. I do, however, sorta have a ricer story.

When I was 12 I bought Gran Turismo (God, that phrasing makes me sound so old, but it was only 4 1/2 years ago). Anyway, my brother and I tore that crap up. We kicked that games utter arse. We were all about making it fast, but we definitely were also up on the "Racing Modification," I believe it was called, yaknow, the new paint job, wing, rims, further weight reduction. We had a couple of Civics (well, more lik 3 or 4) after we began with a 3000GT (well, I began, he didn't help til we had cash to blow). Those Civics kicked some ***, but they were still... Civics... but we thought they looked so good cause of the paint job and sponsors and crap... oof... By the time I was 14 or so I was corrected and addicted to Sport Compact Car. If I wasn't lazy I'd get a subscription, since I can't mooch of my brother's anymore... but I'm lazy. I really want to get my tax return back... then I'll have the cash for something (headers, exhaust, or maybe keep saving for my summer project: coilovers).

In essence, I wasn't much of a ricer, but I had a little bit of stupid in me. I always thought that massive body kits looked like ****, but I liked a lot more of them than are permissible.

This area is so full of rice, it hurts. Then again, whenever people mess with me when they hear my intake (sadly enough), I can take them because of the extra weight of their kit/rims/etc, yeeheehee!

I had painted the rear drums on my 1970 Mustang, at least it had front disc, or I probably would 've painted them too.

That had to be at least ten years ago.

Now I walk up to guys with big *** rims on civics and say "Nice drum brakes!"

The poop you hear at high school is just amazing. This one guy at our school has a CD Honda Accord with a black widow kit, which he already has on still primered; Euro tails, muffler tip. He claims he is turbo charged, he wants to get 20s put on there, wants a wing and also wants to just make his car a show car. Yeah right, like he'll ever win. Ignorance, eh. Many kids want a 2nd gen. DSM with all of the fast and furious goodies. When I do get a chance to talk to them, I don't criticize, I ask them what they want to do with their cars, and most want show. High school blows. What got me into imports was seeing and FD3S with a nice body kit, I asked my bro what it was and he told me. I picked up an issue of SCC later on that week and have been learning ever since, that was around 5th grade. Me being half Mexican, I used to want a blue 70' Impala with 13" Daytons 175 spoke rims, 15 switches, lol, chrome, the works. Moved on into Mustangs and used to want a 5.0 reeeeeaaaaal bad. I have been into cars since I can remember. BTW, I'm in 10th grade right now.

Ahh kids... :D

In High School I was all about the old school muscle cars. Shelby GT mustangs, 69' Camaro SS's, impalas, etc. I've never really been big on wings, fat exhaust, 20" wheels, and all that.

I'm not a flashy type guy. I'd rather not get the attention till AFTER I owned their riced out civics. :D

But dont SUV's come with rims from the factory? Unless you're talking about older ones. On saturday, when I was in the Bronx, I saw a new black Yukon Denali with 20in. chrome spinners. It was the first one Ive seen in the city and it didnt look that bad. I also saw a black Kawasaki Ninja with spinners at a local quad/bike shop. Looked damn nice.

Why just yesterday I saw a fine example of saturn rice. This car had the factory wing with the pedistals cut off. In their place he had about 3 feet of what looked to be erector set steel on eacch side. This thing was freakin' huge. I pissed them off real good too. As I am an ***.

Not what I said. I simply rode their *** up an onramp, they "punched it" so I droped to 2nd then proceeded to pass them at the top of the ramp. They came back like a pissed bumble bee and I finally let them in front of me. Then I was behind them at a light and the ****ers put their car in reverse like they were gonna back into me. That pissed me off real good so I chased them to the kroger where they shot in real quick. I finally decided to say **** it and kept driving. I ate when people thro their car in revers like they are gonna back into me. Yes I know I envoked all of this, but they deserved it. I wanted to confront them about the piece of **** on their trunk but I am a passive individual. Sorry it isn't a kick *** story but thats how it went. :)
