V- what an incredible build!

Couple questions, as we're in the process of building almost the same car:

Can I get your wheel / tire specs?

Also, where did you find your mirrors? I have a similar set, but they're not *quite* what I wanted.

Lastly, what'd you do for the oil pan? Having a terrible time finding one, not looking forward to fabricating one. Bleh.

Ours is taking a little different approach, more "OEM" in exterior appearance, but very similar otherwise.

Thanks everyone, appreciate the kind words. Greg, here are answers to your questions lol.

Rims are rota rbr 17x8.5 all around with +6 offset. 30mm adapters up front and 25mm in the rear for the flares. so its -24 in the front and -19 in the rear lol, super low offset! They just released a 9.5" version with a negative offset(cant remember off hand) so I would capitalize on that if I were you I wish they were out when I got mine. Tires are 235/45/17 front 255/40/17 rear

Mirrors I got from ebay, there's one seller that makes them and sells them direct out of hong kong or something of that nature, jush search for 240z mirror or fender mirror I believe. Haven't seen them stateside....yet.

Oil pan... gotta say I probably snatched the last front sump oil pan nissan made. Right after I pickup mine up the whole oil pan epidemic started... sad to say you are probably going to fab one up or fork over 1k for a custom one. There is a guy on HybridZ making them... top notch stuff though.

its hiding under the intercooler pipe. Im going to reroute it soon so its sits tucked in this small space I have behind the intercooler but before the engine bay... gonna be a tight fit but the air should be considerably cooler.

Has minimal rust in front of the rear wheels which is very common. I bought it because the floorboards and frame rails were in really nice condition and it was a running condition car. The guy had a L28 with dual SU carbs, electronic ignition, cam, headers and exhaust on it so it was good fun till I sold the motor to make room for the RB. I actually tracked it with the L series and it was a load of fun being able to bury the pedal without losing traction <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://images.nicoclub.com/forums/image ... /smile.gif" BORDER="0">

Thanks for the bump, lol. I should update this thread a bit, I got a roll bar installed and some other little things but I've been pretty swamped lately.

Question -

What did you do for exhaust? We're afraid of clearance issues, as there's not much room underneath for a 3" system...

Im running a 3" turbo back all the way back. Just run it inside the trans tunnel and through the rear cutout on the diff mount which is arched for the OEM exhaust. My car is pretty low and I just tried to get it as high up as I could and it worked out alright. The first week it hit a couple speed bumps which caused it to clearance itself, kinda flattened out the bottom. This was mostly in the area thats next to the transmission since its pretty limited there. After that its been fine, they have a pretty short wheel base so that helps. The rear section by the diff was low too but when the rear tires go over bumps it raises so it hasn't touched. I know some people run oval pipes underneath but round pipes turn oval with a few dips lol. I would definitely pay closest attention where the downpipe bends back and you transition into the trans tunnel. My trans mount was kinda in the way so if you get clever with the design of the mount you can save some space.

thanks man, how do I sign up, I've always wanted to be ride of the month LOL

I should have some updated pics soon. Got a nice cage in, rear disc conversion, carbon coilpack cover and clear front cover. I also moved the ignitor chip and some wiring under the dash for a cleaner look and relocated intake outside the engine bay and some other little things. Been really busy lately but shes coming along nicely.

Well, the motor is in, we ran into a lot of hassles on the mounts.. getting ready to do IC piping (planning on a smaller IC), and some cosmetic stuff. Dash is out and wired up. Need to clean the tank, reinstall, run the fuel lines, build exhaust, and start putting her back together.

I have some suspension crap I need to sort, and the brakes are gonna be a pain, but she's coming along.

I think I posted it up in Classic Z forum (titled "Project Z finally sees daylight").

Wow thats a very clean chassis/body you started with, definitely a keeper. Anyway you cut it you have to drop some coin into brakes and suspension with these cars. It would be nice to have a simple coilover you can buy but the whole hub being part of the strut housing is a killer. Are you going to be sectioning the struts or what do you have planned? Either way man, you are on the right track so just hang in there, it's almost the home stretch.

ahem, ahem... On a side note, whats it take to be ride of the month around here

Gonna start the car today after being down for a month. Following was done.

Rear disc conversion, upgraded master cylinder, redid the intercooler piping on the driver side so its one piece, recirculated BOV, installed clear timing cover, carbon fiber coilpack cover, switched to external fuel pressure regulator, installed xenon headlights, extended intake out of engine bay, rewired a few odd ends I didn't like and tucked the harness and ignitor behind dash and some small things... Also put the cage in but it was before the car went down for the revamp. On to some pics, ill get better ones once I tie up the loose ends and clean her up.

8.5" for now but I'm trying to get 9.5" ones for the rear, they didn't make them in 9.5 when I got the rims
