ITS ALIVE!!!! i got my driveshaft in Friday night, made my clutch line and bled it today and drove it back and forth in the garage which was all of a few feet lol, but it was still cool. i am planning on having it on the road this week if all goes well!

here are some new pictures - i have alot of cleaning up to do which will be my next goal as soon as its on the road and any bugs i have are figured out.

this is the coil install - i got it to mount right on the firewall and ran all the wiring for it underneath the cowl

i decided to move my intercooler back up in the radiator support behind the radiator since it only had about 4" cleanance to the ground before and i want the front of the truck to sit lower - andyway it fits but its pretty tight - i had to move the radiator fans to the front of the radiator

i had to cut a new hole in the floor for the shifter - i know lots to clean up

well i took it for the first drive but unfortunately it ended a few minutes after it started since there was smoke coming out of the timing cover - the idler pulley shifted toward the motor and was seized on the head of a bolt (bash to me for not at least looking under the cover before i started it) anyway so i ordered a new timing belt, idler and tensioner pulley today -

also the rear main seal is leaking so i have to add that to the list of things to do

even though it wasn't much of a drive i cant tell you how excited i was to actually drive it!

so now while im waiting for the parts to come in i can get the little things finished that i was to impatient to do like get my gauges working, fix some wiring issues with my lights, clean up the engine bay, etc.

hopefully within a week or so it will be back on the road

Very lucky guy! Glad to hear you got it running already. That didn't take you long at all.

well i know its been a while since i have updated this but i have been busy with work and i moved -

anyway here is the latest - i'll admit i was a little too excited to get the truck running and was short on money so i didnt initially do any gaskets, which kicked me later... i ended up having a small leak in the head gasket on the back of the motor by the auxiliary head bolt - so i replaced the head gasket and while i had the head off i did ARP head studs, intake manifold gaskets, throttle body gasket, new exhaust manifold gasket and studs, and my timing belt, idler pulley and tensioner pulley which were on back order for about 6 weeks also showed up. oh and i also got a nismo fuel pressure regulator since the stock one was stuck running max rich - so finally with all that installed i have a running RB25DET in my S10!

i still have a few little isuses though - 2 days ago was the first time i actually drove it since all the new parts went on - it was breaking up just after it builds a little boost ( no boost gauge yet so im not sure what psi) it felt to me like it was blowing the spark out so i re-gapped my plugs to .8 which helped alot, however it still seems to break up a little at higher rpms and it feels like something is holding it back from making the power it should be - anyway i will be messing with it all day today so hopefully i will get it all sorted out

i def need to get the OBDI connector for it so i can hook up a scan tool and see what its doing

i will try to get some more pictures up soon and hopefully some more updates

just make sure you have a larger gauge wire powering those big coils, the factory wire isent sufficent. i had that problem till i changed the power source. also noticed that ac delco plugs work awsome with those gm coils. 06 malibu v6 plugs worked awsome for me. i couldent foul them out.

hey thanks for the advice on plugs i will check them out - and i do have bigger wire on the coil - 10 gauge for the power -

and for an update - i increased my fuel pressure and that was my problem with top end so now it is running great! -

well it seems i have the truck running well now - i got my tps adjusted which was off a litte - about .9 volts with the throttle closed

i temporarily installed my boost gauge and i am running 7psi (which is stock correct?) it seems to pull pretty good but as it stands right now i have an open wastegate which sounds terrible and is the only thing you can hear when it opens which doesnt help in hearing where the rpms - i dont have my tach wired yet - or any gauges for that matter other than coolant temp and boost - so that is my next step

i also still need to get the obd plug - does anyone have one?

this is the latest picture i have - nothing special but finally a pic of the entire truck

here are a few pictures from the sport compact and truck blast - i figured i would be the only RB25 there but it turned out there was an R32 skyline which was cool since i had never seen one in person before, and also a 240 with an RB25 swap - but i was the only S10 with one and managed to get the most unique mod award

i start classes again tomorrow so i will have access to a tig welder so im hoping to get my exhaust made - also one of the classes im taking is advanced diagnostics and we are building a mega squirt computer to control a fuel injected briggs and straton motor - i have been talking with my teacher and hopefully i will be able to build a mega squirt computer for the S10 as well!

thanks guys! - i talked to my teacher today and im def planning on doing the megasquirt this semester - about the front end... i have alto more work to do for the trialblazer lights and im unsure as to what im going to do for the lower bumper and it looks like the body work will still be on hold since i will be doing the megasquirt and fixing some other wiring issues like my gauge cluster deciding to turn in to a crazy light show today - but its a project...

i got the MegaSquirtII this past week and started soldering it together...

so far i just got the main unit but i will be ordering a 4 bar map sensor, boost control solenoid and components to add an electronic boost controller into the computer, Bosch coil drivers to control my coil pack - these will get rid of the igniter, also a trigger wheel which will mount on the crank pulley to replace the CAS and control timing.

Nice job, and not intending to be a buzzkill but is your intercooler still behind your radiator? That is the absolute worst place you could possibly put it because you are sending hotter than ambient air through it effectively creating a inter-heater.

I saw that, but on 6/08 he said;

I wasn't sure, but thought he had moved it.

yes that is correct - i moved it back down - i did raise it to the top of the black bumper so it gives me a little more ground clearance. i still need to either wrap the turbo and exhaust or make heat shields because the intake pipe by the throttle body still gets hot.

No surprise, your like 10" from the exhaust side. I vote both head wrap and heatshield.

i finished assembling the megasquirtII! i ran into a few problems with getting it to comunicate with my computer - i had to load software onto the main board which they call the daughter board which of course had to give me trouble, then setting up MegaTune which is a free program for download to tune the megasquirt with, also a few issues doing the initial setup. so now i have to do some final testing on the megasquirt and then i will be ready to start installing in on the truck! here are some of the pics...

using the stimulator (small circuit board on the right) the stim lets you test the megasquirt to make sure each of the circuits on it are working correctly, it had potentiometers on it which act as RPM, IAC, TPS, O2 sensor, and ignition timing advance/retard. i was actually loading the software to the daughter board in this pic

this is the 4bar map sensor - it also constantly measures and corrects for barometric pressure

the plan is to bring my truck to school by the end of the week so i can start installing it

the S10 made its last drive on the stock ECU today - i drove it to school this morning and took the dash out and removed the engine harness/ECU. I ordered a relay board and harness to connect the relay board to the megasquirt computer which should be here next week - then i can make the new engine harness from the relay board to all of the sensors.

this is just a pic of it at school - i added the lower lip to the bumper - just playing around with some ideas to see what i like
