ever consider the newer t.blazer headlights? they dont have that grill thing in the middle. looks more like the new tahoe headlights. much nicer looking imo

i have considered that and actually have one light, but with out the division in the middle like i have now it makes the lights look too big for the truck - i also wanted to do the 07 and up tahoe lights - but they are also too big - anyway i think once i make my new grill and mold it into the pieces on the lights it will look much nicer

for some reason i thought the VCT was controlled through the CAS - since i wont be using that i thought there would be VCT - however, i was taking my engine harness apart today to start making my new one and of course there is the plug for the VCT solenoid, so needless to say i will have VCT - to myself for that one

aside from that - tomorrow the plan is to have the majority of my sensors wired to the relay board which i put together last week. here are a few pics...

the S10 with no dash, or wiring.... again

factory S10 harness for everything other than engine - replacing with a harness im making

whats getting thrown out of the Nissan harness

MEGASQUIRT finally i find someone who is using it for there RB. I have pretty much the same setup but i am in a 94 nissan hardbody D21. I have been trying to find someone using it to see how much of a pain it is. Dude u gotta let me kno how its workin out. And what r u gonna use for a rear end. its a beast trin to get my truck to hook up, and i get wheel hop like a mofo.

well so far the MegaSquirt is working out good - just time consuming - idk how much you already know about the MS, but check out these sites if you havnt already: http://www.diyautotune.com/, http://www.megamanual.com/index.html

the biggest thing with the MS on the RB is that you cant use the CAS for timing - i am using a 36-1 trigger wheel mounted on the crank pulley and a VR sensor to control timing - this is the setup that is used on Fords - they sell the trigger wheels on the first link i posted - also i am using the Ford EDIS ignition module to control the GM waste spark setup i have. the reason for the EDIS is that MS has proven it to work- and idk if the Nissan igniter would work, it should im just not positive as to how. i have not installed either the trigger wheel or the EDIS yet but as soon as i do i will post more updates

as for my rear end - unfortunately it is the stock 7.5" garbage rear end - i am planning on swapping it for a GM 8.5" rear end with a locker since o guy i work with has the rear end laying around - with stock suspension in my S10 i had wheel hop but now i have it lowered 5" all around with Belltech suspension and i dont get wheel hop anymore -

sorry for the delay in updates... i have the MegaSquirt completed and I finished installing it today. I just got a wide band O2 but i need to weld on a new bung for it so i am planning on doing that Wednesday. then the plan is to start her up on Thursday! and if all goes well with that i will have in on the dyno friday to do some tuning

i have some more pictures of the install but i have not loaded them onto my computer yet - i'll try to get them up soon

If you dont mind. Could you list the stuff you used to do the MegaSquirt ECU swap? All I am going to be using is the ECU for Timing only. No fuel maps as Im switching to Propane for fuel. But I need a Little Guideline on the parts im going to need. I also have the s2 rb, Im not real sure on the ignitor and coils yet.

to start with i got most of the parts from http://www.diyautotune.com then a few parts came from local junk yard

- MegasquirtII unassembled kit w/PCB3 - this is the main unit- MapDaddy 4 bar map sensor (the kit comes with a 2.5 bar but that limits you to running 21 psi)- relay board- wire harness to connect relay board to main MSII EMS- 36-1 trigger wheel- Ford EDIS 6 ignition control module (junk yard off of ford winstar minivan - located on pass side fender)- VR sensor - off same van as EDIS-6- IAT sensor off of my S10 motor

you will also want the stimulator if you are going to get an unassembled kit - it allows you to test the MSII computer as you are building it

Thanks for the info.

I wont need the Map sensor as I will only be using this for timing only.

Keep us updated on how this works, im sure i will have a few questions for u as I convert.

IT STARTED for the first time!!!!

it did start today but i have my work cut out to get it running good. i started it with the base tune that is on the megasquirt so i need to set up a base tune for the RB25. also i am having an issue with the RPM signal - well i dont have an RPM signal. i should be getting it from the VR sensor which runs to the Ford EDIS. I tested the sensor and that is good so tomorrow i will be testing my wiring and the EDIS module - i was too excited this afternoon that it actually fired to have the patience to do anymore diagnostics.

so hopefully i will at least have the RPM signal figured out tomorrow morning and if im lucky its just a wiring issue. once I have RPM signal i will be able to get it to idle decent so i can get it on the dyno for further tuning

no dyno time yet - i think i have the mega squirt set up corretly now for a base map, and hopefully this afternoon i will get it idling - i have to change my plug wires around so my firing order matches the EDIS module, then it should be ready to fire up again. since this week is Thanksgiving i dont have class wed-friday which sucks since i wont be able to work on it until next week.

well i made good progress today - i was not getting a map reading - turns out i forgot to solder in a jumper wire, one of the solder joints on the map sensor was bad, and i needed to change the settings so the megasquirt knew i had changed the map sensor (default the MS is setup for the 2.5 bar map that comes with the computer but i upgraded to the 4bar)

anyway after doing that it fired right up and idles beautifully

very nice man, evan told me that he saw someone on here doing the same thing i was plannin, finally got the checking it out and it looks very nice. I haven't started mine yet i have a 99 sonoma and was planning either an rb25 or an rb20. I already turbo'd the stock 2.2l 4cyl but it's limited on power output in stock form. After thinking about it i am going rb20, I have an rb25 in my 280z right now but i am building an rb30det right now to drop into the 280z, The rb25 is going into my 280zx with a ms2 as well. Im running a haltech e6k in my 280z and will soon be running the rb30, i had to mod the cas to accept a 300zx turbo trigger wheel(its posted on hybridz.org) anyway again nice job

thanks for all the posts guys - sorry i have not updated anything lately but my truck is at school over the break so i have not made any more progress just trying to save up money

scottymizt- yeah the 2.2 turbo is not very good lol - anyway good luck with the project and let me know if you need any help

rb25drag

I used the 6 3'4" trigger wheel because i wanted to mount the wheel flush on my crank pulley and so the 6 3/4" wheel is bigger than the crank pulley so the teeth on the trigger wheel reach past the outside edge of the crank pulley. If you wanted to use the 4" trigger wheel you would need to space the trigger wheel a little bit from the crank pulley so you had room to mount the VR sensor - this would obviously take up more room and idk about you but my clearance from the crack pulley to my radiator is not very big. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions

Can you get a picture of your vr sensor setup? Also what motor was that from 4.0?

I ordered the ms1 3.0 today along with the goodies. Hopefully It will turn out good.

i got the EDIS 6 and the VR sensor off of a Ford Winstar minivan - not sure if its a 4.0 or not - i was going to get it off of a ranger which is a 4.0 i believe but the EDIS module was mounted on the rad support and was pretty rusted - the EDIS on he minivan was mounted on the passenger side fender close to the fire wall so it didnt get beat up and it looks almost new

i will get some pics up soon of the setup

here are a few pictures of the trigger wheel. Like everything so far the bracket for the VR sensor is a temporary or mock fitted bracket. I was on a tight time frame at school and needed to get everything working before I can make it look nice.

trigger wheel mounted on the crank pulley

part of the bracket for the VR sensor - i made a cross piece that bolts to the alternator and to the lower timing cover which is what you see in pic - that gave me a platform to weld an additional piece on to bolt the VR sensor to

the complete setup

Thanks for the pics man.

Gave me a few Idea's. Im actually taking my dampner off and machining the back of it down to weld the trigger wheel on it. im gonna try to keep everything close to the block.

So have you had any more run time yet?
