Hello,
I a new member to this group. I have been a maxima owner since 1996. I am the proud owner a 1995 Nissan Maxima GXE with 220,000 miles on it. I replaced the original engine and transmission with used ones about 50,000 miles ago. The engine was leaking oil ( we performed almost no regular maintenance on this vehicle) and it was the same price to get a used motor with 67,000 miles on it verus have the old engine repaired. I opted for the used engine. No problems. Runs like a top. I should have taken care of this vehicle better, but I didn't. It still runs great, and I love it.
However, I found a 1998 I30 with 245,000 miles on it. Ran a carfax. It is a two owner vehicle with no history of problems. Called the prior owner, but he has not returned my call yet. I am a little leery of buying a car with so many miles on it. The vehicle runs smooth and quiet in idle, but it sounds and feels a little rough on the highway or above 35 mph. I hear a lot of cabin noise and almost feel like there is a drag. Not even close to being a smooth ride like my Maxima. Taking the vehicle to the dealership tomorrow to get it inspected thoroughly. The vehicle is clean inside and outside. Black exterior, leather, heated seats, power roof, and the car lot is asking $4200. I think I can get them down to $3700. NADA and Kelly are at least $1,000-$1500 higher in value, but those values don't properly take into full account all of these miles. Not sure if I should even be considering this vehicle. Please advise!
I love the car.
